En 1898, l'Union Cycliste des Postes et des Télégraphes de la Gironde est créée à Bordeaux, ayant pour objectif d'apprendre aux facteurs à faire du vélo et de permettre ainsi une distribution plus rapide et plus efficace du courrier.
La création de cette Union marque la naissance des ASPTT (Association Sportive des Postes, Télégraphes et Téléphones) à travers toute la France.
En 1945, 47 ASPTT créent l'Union des ASPTT et, en 1965, le président Charles de Gaulle restructure le sport en France en s'appuyant notamment sur les ASPTT qui ne sont alors plus réservés au personnel des PTT.
La Fédération sportive des ASPTT, créée en 2005, est agréée par le ministère des sports et est membre du Comité national olympique et sportif français.
In 1898, the Cycling Union of Postes and Telegraphs of the Gironde was created in Bordeaux, with the aim of teaching postmen to bike and thus allowing a faster and more efficient delivery of mail.
The creation of this Union marked the birth of the ASPTT ("Association Sportive des Postes, Télégraphes et Téléphones" in French) throughout France.
In 1945, 47 ASPTT created the ASPTT Union and, in 1965, President Charles de Gaulle restructured the sport in France, relying in particular on ASPTT which were no longer reserved for PTT members only.
The ASPTT Sports Federation, created in 2005, is approved by the Ministry of Sports and is a member of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.
Aujourd’hui, la Fédération sportive des ASPTT est composée de 20000 dirigeants et bénévoles, 213 clubs et 200000 licenciés, réunis sous le slogan "Fédération omnisports - Cultivons vos envies".
Ce slogan est mentionné sur la vignette attenante au timbre (0,80€, tirage : 700008), conçu par Stéphane Humbert-Basset, mis en circulation le 26 mars 2018 (vente générale) pour célébrer le 120ème anniversaire de cette Fédération sportive des ASPTT.

L'esprit omnisport (y compris handisport) et intergénérationnel de l'ASPTT est symbolisé sur ce timbre par des silhouettes colorées de tout âge pratiquant différentes activités sportives (cyclisme, tennis, volley-ball, basket-ball, plongeon, course à pied).
Today, the ASPTT Sports Federation is made up of 20,000 supervisors and volunteers, 213 clubs and 200,000 members, under the slogan "Fédération omnisports - Cultivons vos envies".
