Le 4 mars 2018, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un nouveau timbre (19 CZK) consacré à Eduard Štorch (1878-1956), pédagogue, écrivain et archéologue tchèque, à l'occasion du 140ème anniversaire de sa naissance.

Ce timbre, conçu par Zdeněk Daněk, montre un portrait d'Eduard Štorch ainsi qu'une entrée de grotte préhistorique et des mammouths dans le fond.
On March 4, 2018, the Czech Post issued a new stamp (19 CZK) dévoted to Eduard Štorch (1878-1956), Czech pedagogue, writer and archaeologist, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his birth.

That stamp, designed by Zdeněk Daněk, shows a portrait of Eduard Štorch as well as a prehistoric cave entrance and mammoths in the background.
Ces mammouths font sans doute référence à son récit le plus connu "Chasseurs de Mammouth" (1918) dont l'histoire a lieu entre 30000 et 20000 ans avant notre ère, pendant la période du Paléolithique supérieur (Gravettien).
Eduard Štorch est en effet l'auteur de nombreux récits pour la jeunesse mettant en perspective la vie des hommes préhistoriques.
Eduard Štorch était d'abord un professeur et pédagogue, ayant expérimenté de nouvelles techniques d'apprentissage, en combinant l'éducation classique avec des activités de plein air.
Štorch était également un archéologue autodidacte passionné, menant ses propres recherches, en particulier dans les environs de Lobeč, dans la région de Mělník (région de Bohême centrale).

These mammoths probably refer to his best known novel "Mammoth Hunters" (1918) whose history takes place between 30,000 and 20,000 years ago, during the period of the Upper Paleolithic (Gravettian).
Eduard Štorch was indeed the author of many stories for the youth putting in perspective the life of the prehistoric men.
Eduard Štorch was first a teacher and pedagogue, having experimented with new learning techniques, combining classical education with outdoor activities.
Štorch was also a passionate self-taught archaeologist, conducting his own research, especially around Lobeč, in the region of Mělník (Central Bohemian Region).
