Le 4 avril 2018, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un nouveau timbre (tarif permanent 'E' jusqu'à 50g vers l'Europe, 35 CZK actuellement) consacré à l'architecte Jan Kaplický (1937-2009), célèbre pour ses projets futuristes inspirés de la nature (toiles d'araignée, ailes de papillon, écailles de poissons...), défiant certains des principaux fondements de l'architecture moderne.
Conçu par Alan Záruba et partiellement gravé par Martin Srb, ce timbre figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous (tirage : 3400), avec TAD de Prague incluant ses initiales. Merci beaucoup Bret !
Ce timbre est consacré au projet de Jan Kaplický pour la bibliothèque nationale tchèque, dans un style avant-gardiste, finalement abandonné en 2007 par la municipalité de Prague après de vives critiques, en particulier du président de la république de l'époque (Václav Klaus).
On 4 April 2018, the Czech Post put into circulation a new stamp (permanent tariff 'E' for a letter up to 50g to Europe, 35 CZK currently) dedicated to Czech architect Jan Kaplický (1937-2009), famous for his Futuristic projects inspired by nature (cobwebs, butterfly wings, fish scales ...), defying some of the main foundations of modern architecture.
Designed by Alan Záruba and partially engraved by Martin Srb, that stamp appears on the official FDC below (print run: 3,400), with postmarks from Prague including his initials. Thank you very much Bret!
That stamp is dedicated to Jan Kaplický's project for the Czech National Library, in an avant-garde style, finally abandoned in 2007 by the Prague Municipality after sharp criticism, especially by the then President of the Republic (Václav Klaus).

Ce texte est inspiré de tracts de l'époque soutenant ce projet de bibliothèque nationale de Kaplický.
A travers ces mots, Jan Kaplický fait probablement référence à son exil au Royaume-Uni après l'échec du Printemps de Prague en 1968. Il y créé à Londres en 1982 le cabinet d'architecture et de design "Future Systems" et sera à l'origine de projets novateurs comme le Selfridges Building à Birmingham (2003) ou la tribune de presse du Lord's Cricket Ground à Londres (1999) pour lequel il reçoit le prestigieux Prix Stirling, décerné par l'association RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).

This text is inspired by leaflets of the time supporting this National Library's project by Kaplický.
Through these words, Jan Kaplický probably refers to his exile in the United Kingdom after the failure of the Prague Spring in 1968. He created there in 1982 the London-based architectural and design practice "Future Systems" and was the designer of innovative projects such as the Selfridges Building in Birmingham (2003) or Media Centre of the Lord's Cricket Ground in London (1999) for which he received the prestigious Stirling Prize, awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Ce même timbre figure sur la 2ème enveloppe ci-dessus, avec TAD classique du premier jour d'émission du bureau principal de Prague 1 où avait lieu, ce 4 avril 2018, la 100ème édition de l'exposition consacrée à la production de timbres ("100. Známková tvorba výstavka"), ce que l'illustration sur l'enveloppe rappelle !
That same stamp was used on the 2nd envelope above, with the classic postmark of the first day of issue by the main post office of Prague 1, where took place on April 4, 2018, the 100th edition of the exhibition devoted to stamp production ( "100. Známková tvorba výstavka"), what the illustration on the envelope reminds!
