A l'occasion de l'exposition philatélique WIPA08 à Vienne, la poste autrichienne avait émis, le 21 septembre 2008, un timbre (1€) rendant hommage à l'actrice Romy Schneider (1938-1982).
Ce timbre représente un magnifique portrait de Romy Schneider (née à Vienne), réalisé par l'artiste pop-art Andreas Reimann, choisi pour commémorer les 70 ans de la naissance de cette actrice, l'éternelle Sissi, tant aimée en France où elle jouera dans de nombreux films, dont "L'important c'est d'aimer" et "Une histoire simple" pour lesquels elle remportera le César de la meilleure actrice.
A noter que les administrations postales de Gibraltar, d'Allemagne et de France (entre autres) ont également émis des timbres en son honneur.
On the occasion of the philatelic exhibition WIPA08 in Vienna, the Austrian Post had issued, on September 21, 2008, a stamp (€ 1.00) paying tribute to the actress Romy Schneider (1938-1982).
That stamp is featuring a beautiful portrait of Romy Schneider (born in Vienna), created by pop art artist Andreas Reimann, chosen to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the birth of this actress, the eternal Sissi, so beloved in France where she performed in many movies, including "The important thing is to love" and "A simple story" for which she received the French César Award for best actress.
To note that postal administrations of Gibraltar, Germany and France (among others) have also issued stamps in her honor.
C'est ce timbre qui a été utilisé à gauche sur cette jolie lettre envoyée le 6 mai 2016 depuis la petite ville de Sankt Jakob im Rosental (sud du pays, près de la frontière slovène). Merci beaucoup Lars !
Un autre lien avec la France à travers le 2ème timbre ci-dessus (0,55€) mis en circulation le 16 mai 2008 à l'occasion du championnat d'Europe de football, organisé du 7 au 29 juin 2008 en Autriche et en Suisse.
La poste autrichienne (contrairement à la poste suisse) a émis de très nombreux timbres consacrés à cette compétition, en particulier 16 timbres représentant ce même visage d'enfant arborant les couleurs des drapeaux des 16 équipes qualifiées. Deux feuillets (8 timbres chacun) ont été émis.

Another link with France through the 2nd stamp above (€ 0.55) put into circulation on May 16, 2008 at the occasion of the UEFA European Football Championship, held from 7 to 29 June 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
Austrian Post (contrary to Swiss Post) issued many stamps dedicated to this competition, in particular 16 stamps depicting this same child's face with the colors of the flags of the 16 teams qualified. Two sheetlets (8 stamps each) were issued.
