La petite principauté d'Andorre est caractérisée par un riche patrimoine roman, avec une quarantaine d'églises ou de chapelles préromanes ou romanes remarquables (datant du 11ème et 12ème siècle) souvent ornées de fresques plus ou moins bien conservées.
Huit de ces églises ou ensembles romans figurent d'ailleurs sur une liste indicative proposée par la principauté d'Andorre pour être inscrits au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
Les postes française et espagnole en Andorre ont déjà émis de nombreux timbres dans le passé consacrés à l'art roman et en particulier un splendide bloc-feuillet gravé commun en 2010.
L'art roman est à nouveau à l'honneur à travers les 2 timbres (émis par la poste espagnole en Andorre) choisis pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 1er août 2017 depuis la capitale, Andorre-la-Vieille. Merci beaucoup Josep !
The little Principality of Andorra is characterized by a rich Romanesque heritage, with about forty remarkable pre-Romanesque or Romanesque churches and chapels (dating from the 11th and 12th century) often decorated with more or less well preserved frescoes. Eight of these churches are included on an indicative list proposed by the Principality of Andorra to be listed as World Heritage site by UNESCO.
The French and Spanish Posts in Andorra have already issued many stamps in the past devoted to Romanesque Art and especially a beautiful joint engraved souvenir sheet in 2010.
Romanesque Art is again in the spotlight through the two stamps (issued by the Spanish Post in Andorra) chosen to frank the pretty letter below sent on August 1, 2017 from the capital, Andorra la Vella. Thank you very much Josep!
Le timbre à droite (1,30€, tirage : 80000) émis le 9 février 2016, est consacré en particulier à la représentation des animaux dans l'art, à un fragment montrant un chien ici, faisant partie du retable de l'église romane Sant Cristòfol d'Anyós, située sur les hauteurs du village d'Anyós (1310 mètres d'altitude), dans la paroisse de La Massana (ouest du pays).
Cette petite église date du 12ème siècle et son intérieur était décoré de peintures murales romanes jusqu'en 1930, la plupart ayant été volées ou vendues...
On peut toutefois encore y voir une représentation de la sainte cène, d'époque franco-gothique (13ème siècle).
L'autre timbre ci-dessus (0,57€, tirage : 80000) émis le 2 mars 2016, célèbre le 10ème anniversaire du Centre d'interprétation Andorre romane, situé dans le village de Pal, également dans la paroisse de La Massana. Ce centre présente les caractéristiques principales de l'art roman et son évolution en Andorre, en exposant divers éléments originaux provenant de différentes églises de la Principauté.
A noter l'originalité de ce timbre montrant des arches romanes dont les ouvertures sont évidées !
The stamp on the right (€ 1.30, print run: 80,000) issued on February 9, 2016, is devoted in particular to the representation of animals in art, to a fragment showing a dog here, being part of the altarpiece of the Romanesque church of Sant Cristòfol d'Anyós, located in the village of Anyós (1,310 meters above sea level), in the parish of La Massana (west of the country).
This small church dates from the 12th century and its interior was decorated with Romanesque murals until 1930, most of them were stolen or sold...
However, we can still see a representation of the Last Supper, from the Franco-Gothic period (13th century).
The other stamp above (€ 0.57, print run: 80,000) issued on March 2, 2016, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Romanesque Andorra Interpretation Centre, located in the village of Pal, also in the parish of La Massana. This center presents the main characteristics of Romanesque art and its evolution in Andorra, exhibiting various original elements coming from different churches of the Principality.
To note the originality of that stamp featuring Romanesque arches whose openings are hollowed out!
