Le 5 février 2015, la Guernsey Post a mis en circulation pour Alderney (Aurigny en français) une série de 6 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet consacrée au 150ème anniversaire de la publication du roman "Les Aventures d'Alice au pays des merveilles", écrit par le britannique Lewis Carroll (1832-1898).
Pour rappel, Alderney est une île (2000 habitants) faisant partie du bailliage de Guernesey, située à 30 km au nord-ouest de Guernesey. A partir de 1983, des timbres spécifiques à Alderney ont été émis, valables toutefois sur tout le territoire du bailliage de Guernesey.
Le bloc-feuillet (3£) de cette série, conçue par l'illustrateur Keith Robinson et imprimée en France par Cartor Security Printing, a été utilisé pour affranchir la lettre ci-dessous, envoyée le 1er avril 2019 d'Alderney.
On February 5, 2015, the Guernsey Post put into circulation for Alderney a series of 6 stamps + 1 miniature sheet dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the publication of the novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", written by the British Lewis Carroll (1832-1898).
As a reminder, Alderney is an island (2000 inhabitants) being part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, located 30 km northwest of Guernsey. From 1983, specific stamps to Alderney were issued, valid however throughout the territory of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The miniature sheet (£ 3.00) in this series, designed by illustrator Keith Robinson and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, was used on the letter below, sent on April 1, 2019 from Alderney.
Ce bloc-feuillet évoque en particulier la scène du thé pendant laquelle le Chapelier fou (à gauche dans la marge) explique à Alice que lui et le Lièvre de mars prennent continuellement le thé car, quand il tenta de chanter pour la Reine de cœur lors d'une fête en son honneur, elle le condamna à mort parce qu'il était "en train de battre le temps".
À l'arrivée d'Alice, le thé est animé par des changements de place à table, des énigmes insolubles et des histoires sans aucune logique, toutes choses qui agacent prodigieusement Alice...
Un 3ème personnage, le loir endormi, fait partie de cette scène emblématique de ce roman.
This miniature sheet evokes in particular the scene of the tea party during which the Mad Hatter (on the left in the margin) explains to Alice that he and the March Hare are constantly taking tea because, when he tried to sing for the Red Queen, she condemned him to death because he was "beating time".
When Alice arrives, the tea party is animated by changes of position at the table, insoluble enigmas and stories without logic, all things that annoy Alice terribly ...
A third character, the dormant dormouse, is part of this emblematic scene of this novel.
