Comme en 2019, l'administration postale de la Fédération de Russie a été la première en 2020 à mettre en circulation son timbre EUROPA, le 15 janvier 2020, dont le thème cette année est consacré aux anciennes routes postales ("Древние почтовые маршруты" en russe).
Ce timbre de grand format (53 roubles, tirage : 216000), conçu par O. Shushlebina et imprimé en feuillet de 8 timbres, a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 16 janvier 2020 depuis la ville de Saint-Petersbourg. Merci beaucoup Youri !
Ce timbre illustre l'ancienne route postale Kholmogory (tracé entre Moscou et Arkhangelsk sur le timbre), Kholmogory faisant référence à un village situé à 75 km au sud-est d'Arkhangelsk, près de la côte de la mer Blanche dans l'arctique russe.
As in 2019, the postal administration of the Russian Federation was the first one in 2020 to put into circulation its EUROPA stamp, on January 15, 2020, whose theme this year is devoted to ancient postal routes ("Древние почтовые маршруты" in Russian).

This stamp illustrates the ancient Kholmogory postal route (postroad between Moscow and Arkhangelsk on the stamp), Kholmogory referring to a village located 75 km south-east of Arkhangelsk, near the White Sea coast in the Russian Arctic region.

Cette route postale était connue dès la fin du 15ème siècle, mais seule une partie de celle-ci vers la ville de Vologda était en service.
Les premières offres pour établir un service postal à Arkhangelsk ont été faites au tsar Alexey Mikhailovich au milieu du 17ème siècle. À cette époque, cette route postale suivait presque le même tracé que la route actuelle reliant Arkhangelsk à Moscou, à travers le quartier commerçant du monastère de la Trinité, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov le Grand, Iaroslavl, Danilov, Vologda, Velsk, Shenkursk et Kholmogory.
Le plus ancien service postal régulier russe entre Arkhangelsk et Moscou a été lancé sous le règne de Pierre le Grand en 1693.
Ce timbre évoque un ancien parchemin incluant cet ancien itinéraire postal avec des vues d'époque en particulier des villes d'Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Iaroslavl et Moscou (du nord au sud).
This postal route was known as early as in the end of the 15th century, but only part of it towards the city of Vologda was in service.
The first offers to establish a postal service in Arkhangelsk were made to Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich in the middle of the 17th century. At that time, this postroad followed nearly the same path as the present-day Moscow Arkhangelsk highway: through the trading quarter of the Trinity Monastery, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Danilov, Vologda, Velsk, Shenkursk, and Kholmogory.
The oldest regular Russian postal service between Arkhangelsk and Moscow was launched during the reign of Peter the Great in 1693.
This stamp evokes an old parchment including this old postal route with period views in particular of the cities of Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Yaroslavl and Moscow (from north to south).
