Timbre et TAD "500 ans du carnaval de Wasungen" sur lettre d'Allemagne
Les coutumes, la joie et la folie du carnaval ont une longue histoire et
une longue tradition en Allemagne, comme dans le monde entier. Cet
héritage culturel trouve son origine dans le rite religieux du jeûne.
La petite ville de Wasungen (Land de Thuringe) est particulièrement connue en Allemagne pour son carnaval, mentionné pour la première fois dans un récit de la ville datant de 1524. Wasungen peut ainsi se prévaloir de l'une des plus anciennes traditions du pays.
À cette époque, le maire sortant de la ville avait fait don d'un seau de bière aux serviteurs danseurs de la pièce de carnaval présentée sur le marché. Malgré la Réforme qui a débuté au même siècle, au cours de laquelle le rituel du jeûne a été rejeté, malgré les décrets souverains et plusieurs systèmes politiques extrêmes successifs et, notamment, deux guerres mondiales, le carnaval de Wasungen a pu conserver son originalité et son caractère populaire de carnaval de rue.
The customs, joy, and madness of carnival have a long history and tradition in Germany, as they do throughout the world. This cultural heritage has its origins in the religious rite of fasting.
The small town of Wasungen (Free State of Thuringia) is particularly famous in Germany for its carnival, first mentioned in a town history dating back to 1524. Wasungen can thus boast one of the oldest traditions in the country.
At that time, the outgoing mayor of the town donated a bucket of beer to the dancing servants in the carnival play presented in the marketplace. Despite the Reformation that began in the same century, during which the fasting ritual was rejected, despite sovereign decrees and several successive extreme political systems, and notably two world wars, the Wasungen carnival has managed to retain its originality and popular character as a street carnival.
Le point culminant de la saison annuelle du carnaval est le grand défilé historique avec plusieurs milliers de participants. C'est traditionnellement le Prince du Carnaval qui dirige ce défilé, qui se présente en costume historique peu avant le défilé et commence son règne insensé en s'emparant de la clé de la ville. Il apparaît accompagné de deux pages. Ceci a pour but d'inciter la foule du carnaval à toutes sortes de bêtises et de méfaits.
Le 6 février 2025, la Deutsche Post a mis en circulation un joli timbre (1,10€, conception : Michael Kunter) consacré au 500ème anniversaire de ce carnaval de Wasungen, montrant le Prince du Carnaval dans les rue de la ville.
Ce timbre figure sur la lettre ci-dessus avec TAD spécial de Wasungen (D-98634) du 25 février 2025 mis en circulation à l'occasion de la présentation officielle du timbre par le ministère fédéral des Finances. Merci beaucoup Jens !

The highlight of the annual carnival season is the grand historical parade with several thousand participants. Traditionally, the Carnival Prince leads this parade, appearing in historical costume shortly before the parade and beginning his insane reign by seizing the key to the city. He appears accompanied by two pages. This is intended to incite the carnival crowd to all sorts of mischief.
On February 6, 2025, the Deutsche Post issued a beautiful stamp (€1.10, design: Michael Kunter) dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Wasungen carnival, showing the Carnival Prince in the city streets.
This stamp was used on the cover above with a special postmark from Wasungen (D-98634) dated February 25, 2025, issued on the occasion of the official presentation of the stamp by the Federal Ministry of Finance. Many thanks, Jens!
