Série EUROPA 1993 (Art contemporain) sur lettre d'Albanie
Depuis 1993, l'association des opérateurs postaux publics européens
PostEurop gère les émissions de timbres EUROPA, en remplacement de la
CEPT (Conférence européenne des administrations des postes et
télécommunications).
Un nouveau logo EUROPA a ainsi été créé et figurait pour la première fois
sur ces timbres EUROPA mis en circulation en 1993, consacrés au thème de
l'art contemporain.
L'Albanie a fait partie des 46 pays ou territoires européens ayant émis des timbres EUROPA en 1993, le 28 mai précisément. Pour rappel, l'Albanie a émis ses premiers timbres CEPT-EUROPA en 1992 (500 ans de la découverte de l'Amérique).
Ce 28 mai 1993, la poste albanaise a en effet mis en circulation 2 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet reproduisant différentes œuvres de peintres contemporains albanais, avec toutefois un logo EUROPA erroné, avec un V à la place du U...
Les 2 timbres de cette série EUROPA (tirage : 50000), imprimés chacun en feuillet de 5 timbres + 1 vignette, ont été utilisés à gauche sur la lettre ci-dessous, envoyée le 1er mars 2026

Since 1993, the Association
of European public postal operators PostEurop has been managing EUROPA
stamp issues, then replacing the CEPT (European Conference of Postal and
Telecommunications Administrations).
A new EUROPA logo was
created and appeared for the first time on these EUROPA stamps put into
circulation in 1993, devoted to the theme of contemporary art.
Albania was one of the 46 countries or European territories that issued EUROPA stamps in 1993, on May 28 precisely. As a reminder, Albania issued its first CEPT-EUROPA stamps in 1992 (500 years since the discovery of America).
On May 28, 1993, the Albanian Post then released two stamps and one souvenir sheet reproducing various works by contemporary Albanian painters, but with an incorrect EUROPA logo, featuring a V instead of a U.
The two stamps from this EUROPA set (print run: 50,000), each printed in sheetlets of five stamps and one label, have been used on the left side of the cover below, sent on March 1, 2026, from Tirana. Thank you very much, Sabri!
Le premier timbre (3 ALL) reproduit une œuvre du peintre Agim Zajmi intitulée "La pierre lourde à sa place" (1981). Cette œuvre puissante représente la figure d'un sage montagnard, exprimant une force intérieure, une solitude et un lien profond avec la terre.
La figure monumentale domine la composition, enveloppée de formes sombres et organiques qui suggèrent à la fois protection et isolement. Ce tableau crée une atmosphère introspective et profonde, ce qui en fait une pièce de choix pour les collectionneurs d'art figuratif et expressif des Balkans.
L'autre timbre (7 ALL) est plus mystérieux avec une œuvre intitulée "Étoile verte" par le peintre Edi Hila.
Sabri a également utilisé 2 timbres (70 ALL, tirage : 8000) faisant partie d'un joli bloc-feuillet composé de 5 timbres triangulaires, émis le 17 novembre 2005, consacré à la flore albanaise et en particulier à différentes espèces du genre Portulaca.
The first stamp (3 ALL) reproduces a work by the painter Agim Zajmi entitled "The Heavy Stone in Its Place" (1981). This powerful work depicts the figure of a mountain sage, expressing inner strength, solitude, and a profound connection to the land.
The monumental figure dominates the composition, enveloped in dark, organic forms that suggest both protection and isolation. This painting creates an introspective and profound atmosphere, making it a prized piece for collectors of figurative and expressive Balkan art.
The other stamp (7 ALL) is more mysterious, featuring a work entitled "Green Star" by the painter Edi Hila.
Sabri also used two stamps (70 ALL, print run: 8,000) as part of a beautiful souvenir sheet of five triangular stamps, issued on November 17, 2005, dedicated to Albanian flora and, in particular, to various species of the genus Portulaca.
