A tribute to Veer Teja and T. Gopichand in India

Le 7 septembre 2011, la poste indienne a émis un timbre (tirage : 300000) consacré à Veer Teja (1074-1103) ou Tejaji Maharaj.
C'est ce timbre, conçu par Nenu Gupta, qui figure en 2 exemplaires sur le FDC ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup S. S. Rath :-)
Veer Teja fut un des nombreux chefs de clan vivant au Rajasthan (nord-ouest de l'Inde actuelle), connu pour sa bravoure, ses valeurs et ses actes de bienfaisance. Selon une légende, il aurait été tué après un âpre combat contre des dacoïts (bandes armées).
Il fut alors vénéré comme un dieu et de nombreux temples furent construits en son honneur à travers tout le Rajasthan.
On September 7, 2011, India Post has issued a stamp (print run : 300,000) devoted to Veer Teja (1074-1103) or Tejaji Maharaj.
It is this stamp, designed by Nenu Gupta, that appears in two copies of the FDC below. Thank you very much S. S. Rath :-)
Veer Teja was one of the many chieftains living in Rajasthan (northwest of current India), known for his bravery, his values ​​and his acts of charity. According to legend, he was killed after a fierce battle against the dacoits (groups of armed bandits).
He was then revered as a deity and many temples were built in his honor all over Rajasthan.

S. S. Rath m'a également envoyé le 2ème FDC ci-dessous émis un jour plus tard (le 8 septembre 2011) avec un autre intéressant timbre à date de Bhubaneswar.
Ce timbre (5 roupies), conçu par Alka Sharma, rend hommage au romancier, éditeur, dramaturge et metteur en scène de cinéma indien Tripuraneni Gopichand (1910-1962).
T. Gopichand fut une des plus grandes figures de la littérature de langue télougou, parlée dans le centre-est et la côte est de l'Inde.
Son ouvrage "Asamardhuni Jeevayatra" est considéré comme le premier roman psychologique écrit dans cette langue.
S. S. Rath has also sent me the second FDC below issued a day later (September 8, 2011) with another interesting cancellation from Bhubaneswar.
This stamp (5 rupees), designed by Alka Sharma, is paying tribute to the Indian novelist, editor, playwright and film director Tripuraneni Gopichand (1910-1962).
T. Gopichand was one of the greatest literary figures of Telugu language, spoken in east-central and eastern coast of India.
His book "Asamardhuni Jeevayatra" ("The Incompetent's Life Journey") is considered the first psychological novel written in this language.

Dommage que sur ces 2 FDC, un cachet manuel de Bhubaneswar ait été apposé en date du 19 septembre 2011...
What a pity that a hand postmark from Bhubaneswar was applied on these two FDC on September 19, 2011...

Série EUROPA 2009 en Azerbaïdjan

EUROPA 2009 series from Azerbaijan

Pour rappel, l'année 2009 avait été déclarée Année Mondiale de l'Astronomie par les Nations Unies afin de commémorer le 400ème anniversaire de la première utilisation de la lunette astronomique par Galilée ainsi que le 40ème anniversaire du premier pas de l'Homme sur la Lune.
Ce thème de l'astronomie a logiquement été choisi par PostEurop pour les séries de timbres EUROPA émises en 2009.
En voici ci-dessous un nouvel exemple à travers cette nouvelle intéressante lettre recommandée postée le 10 novembre 2011 à Bakou, capitale de l'Azerbaïdjan.

As a reminder, 2009 was declared International Year of Astronomy by the United Nations to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first use of the telescope by Galileo and also the 40th anniversary of the first steps of man on Moon.
This theme of astronomy has consistently been chosen by PostEurop for the EUROPA stamp series issued in 2009.
Here is below another example through this new interesting registered letter mailed on November 10, 2011 from Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.

La poste d'Azerbaïdjan a donc émis, le 13 avril 2009, une série EUROPA composée des 2 timbres (tirage : 50000 chacun) et du bloc-feuillet (tirage : 15000) ci-dessus.
Le bloc-feuillet rend hommage aux travaux de Galilée en partie découverts grâce à sa lunette astronomique figurant sur le timbre (1 manat). Son portrait dans la marge inférieure est inspiré du dessin au crayon d'Ottavio Leoni, exécuté en 1624 et conservé à la Biblioteca Marucelliana de Florence. Des dessins de Galilée représentant différentes phases de la lune, extraits de son ouvrage "Sidereus Nuncius" (1610), figurent également à gauche sur ce bloc.
Les 2 timbres à gauche sont consacrés à l'astronome, théologien et philosophe perse Nasreddin Tusi (1201-1274), célèbre en particulier pour ses tables permettant de calculer les positions des planètes ainsi qu'à l'observatoire astrophysique de Shamakhi (qui porte le nom de Nasreddin Tusi), inauguré en 1960 en Azerbaïdjan.
The Post of Azerbaijan has thus issued, on April 13, 2009, a EUROPA series of two stamps (print run : 50,000 each) and one souvenir sheet (print run : 15,000) above.
This souvenir sheet celebrates the works of Galileo discovered in part through his telescope shown on the stamp (1 manat). His portrait in the bottom margin is based on the drawing by Ottavio Leoni, executed in 1624 and kept today at the Biblioteca Marucelliana in Florence. Galileo's drawings depicting different phases of the moon, taken from his book "Sidereus Nuncius" (1610), are also reproduced to the left on this sheet.
The two stamps to the left are dedicated to the Persian astronomer, theologian and philosopher Nasreddin Tusi (1201-1274), famous in particular for its tables to calculate the positions of the planets, and to the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory (named after Nasreddin Tusi), opened in 1960 in Azerbaijan.

Mahir a complété son affranchissement (sur l'autre face de cette lettre ci-dessus) avec 2 timbres constituant la 2ème partie, émise le 20 juin 2011, de la série courante actuelle consacrée à des fleurs de la région du Haut-Karabagh, Ophrys caucasica (10 qəpik) et Galanthus caucasicus (30 qəpik) ici.
Mahir has also used two other stamps (on the other side of his letter above) being part of the second part, issued on June 20, 2011, of the current definitive series devoted to flowers of the Karabakh region, Ophrys caucasica (10 qəpik) and Galanthus caucasicus (30 qəpik) here.

Souvenir princier de Monacophil 2011 !

A Princely stamp souvenir from Monacophil 2011 !

Comme tous les 2 ans, la Principauté de Monaco a accueilli, du 2 au 4 décembre 2011, l'exposition philatélique internationale "Monacophil 2011".
Près de 80 stands d'administrations postales et de négociants internationaux étaient présent et le public a pu admirer 100 raretés philatéliques mondiales provenant de 100 collections prestigieuses dont celles de la reine Elizabeth II ou du prince Albert II de Monaco.
A cette occasion, l'Office des Émissions de Timbres-Poste (OETP) de Monaco a émis en avant-première plusieurs séries de timbres.
As every two years, the Principality of Monaco has hosted from 2 to 4 December 2011, the International Stamp Exhibition "Monacophil 2011".
Nearly 80 stands operated by postal administrations and international stamp dealers were present and the public was able to admire 100 worlwide philatelic rarities belonging to 100 prestigious collections including those of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Albert II of Monaco.
On this occasion, the OETP (Monegasque Office for Stamp Issues) has issued several stamps in preview sale.

L'OETP de Monaco a émis en particulier le bloc-feuillet (5€) spécial ci-dessus, mis en page par Créaphil, évoquant le mariage religieux du Prince Albert II et de Charlene Wittstock, devenue Princesse Charlène de Monaco, le 2 juillet 2011.
Ce mariage religieux a eu lieu dans la cour d'honneur du palais princier, représentée dans la marge du bloc à gauche.
Merci beaucoup Olivier pour ce splendide FDC avec un timbre à date Premier Jour reprenant le monogramme officiel du couple princier :-)
A noter qu'un encart, tiré seulement à 2500 exemplaires et vendu 50€, incluant la version dentelée de ce bloc ainsi qu'une version non dentelée, était proposé au public pendant cette exposition.
The OETP of Monaco has issued in particular the special souvenir sheet (€ 5.00) above, laid out by Créaphil, referring to the religious marriage of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock, who then became Princess Charlène of Monaco, on July 2, 2011.
This religious wedding was held in the courtyard of the royal palace, featured in the margin of this sheet to the left.

To note that a special souvenir, printed in only 2,500 copies and sold € 50.00, including a perforated and unperforated version of this souvenir sheet, was offered to the public during this exhibition.

Olivier a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer également le 2ème souvenir de Monacophil 2011 ci-dessus, posté le 2 décembre 2011.
Ce pli est affranchi avec le timbre (0,55€), émis le 29 août 2011, pour annoncer cette exposition philatélique internationale organisée conjointement par l'OETP et le Club de Monte-Carlo, une sorte d'élite de la philatélie mondiale, créé en 1999.
L'emblème de ce Club figure en haut à droite sur ce timbre conçu par l'artiste monégasque Richard Seren (né en 1952).
A noter enfin le cachet spécial à gauche émis pendant la durée de Monacophil 2011.
Olivier was kind enough to send me also this second "Monacophil 2011" stamp souvenir above, posted on December 2, 2011.
This letter is franked with the stamp (€ 0.55), issued on August 29, 2011, to announce this International Philatelic Exhibition, jointly organized by the OETP and the Club de Monte-Carlo, a kind of world elite of the philately, established in 1999.
The emblem of this Club appears at the top right on this stamp designed by Monaco's artist Richard Seren (b. 1952).
Finally, to note the special cancellation above to the left, issued during "Monacophil 2011".

70 ans du ghetto de Terezín en Rép. Tchèque - oblitérations spéciales

70 Years of Terezín's Ghetto in Czech Rep. - Special postmarks

Le 24 novembre 2011, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation deux oblitérations spéciales (disponibles seulement ce jour-là) commémorant le 70ème anniversaire de la transformation en ghetto, le 24 novembre 1941 précisément, du camp de la Gestapo situé dans la ville tchèque de Terezín (Theresienstadt en allemand).
Ce camp de concentration, qui sera libéré en 1945 par l'Armée rouge, fut ainsi muré afin de dissimuler l'opération d'extermination des juifs. Près de 150000 personnes ont été déportées par les Nazis dans ce camp, dont une majorité furent envoyées vers Auschwitz ou d'autres camps...
On November 24, 2011, the Czech Post has released two special cancellations (only available that day) commemorating the 70th anniversary of the transformation into a Ghetto, on November 24, 1941 precisely, of the Gestapo camp located in the Czech town of Terezín (Theresienstadt in German).
This concentration camp, which was released in 1945 by the Red Army, was thus walled in order to conceal the operation to exterminate Jews. Nearly 150,000 people were deported by the Nazis in that camp, the majority were sent to Auschwitz or other camps...

Ce timbre à date évoque précisément le 70ème anniversaire du premier transport en train, depuis la gare Masaryk de Prague, de déportés juifs vers ce ghetto de Terezín.
L'étoile de David que les juifs devaient porter figure ici sur une valise ainsi que l'inscription "AE1/409, Bäckergasse, CI. Westbaracken" dont j'ignore la signification ?

This postmark evokes precisely the 70th anniversary of the first transport by train, from the station Masaryk in Prague, of deported Jews to this ghetto of Terezín.
The Star of David that Jews had to wear is included here on a suitcase with also the inscription "AE1/409, Bäckergasse, CI. Westbaracken" about which I do not know the meaning ?

La poste tchèque a également émis ce feuillet commémoratif numéroté ci-dessus incluant la 2ème oblitération spéciale, émise à Terezín, mentionnant le 70ème anniversaire de ce ghetto.
Ce timbre à date, également conçu par Renata Fučíková, évoque le contour de la forteresse de Terezín où les allemands ont installé ce camp de concentration, avec la lettre "J" (pour "Jude") au centre.
J'ai également déjà évoqué sur ce blog le timbre ci-dessus, émis le 20 janvier 2005, rendant hommage à Petr Ginz (1928-1944) qui fut interné dans le ghetto de Terezín en 1942 avant d'être déporté à Auschwitz en 1944 où il mourut à l'âge de 16 ans...
Ce timbre reproduit son dessin représentant la Terre vue de la Lune qui est devenu le symbole international de la Shoah.
The Czech Post has also issued this numbered commemorative sheet above, including the second special cancellation, issued in Terezín, mentioning the 70th anniversary of this ghetto.
This postmark, also designed by Renata Fučíková, features the outline of the fortress of Terezín where the Germans installed this concentration camp, with the letter "J" (for "Jude") in the center.
I've also already mentioned on this blog the stamp used above, issued on January 20, 2005, paying tribute to Petr Ginz (1928-1944) who was interned in this ghetto of Terezín in 1942 before being deported to Auschwitz in 1944 where he died at the age of 16...
This stamp reproduces his drawing of the Earth as seen from the Moon that has become today the international symbol of the Holocaust.

Emission commune Croatie/Vatican

A Croatia/Vatican joint issue

Afin de commémorer le 300ème anniversaire de la naissance du physicien, astronome, mathématicien, architecte, diplomate et philosophe croate Ruđer Bošković (1711-1787), les administrations postales de la Croatie et de la Cité du Vatican ont émis, le 13 septembre 2011, un timbre commun.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir la jolie lettre illustrée ci-dessous, postée le 15 novembre 2011 de Rijeka, avec la version croate de ce timbre (tirage : 200000).

Dragan a eu la bonne idée d'imprimer à gauche la version vaticane de ce timbre, incluant une forte valeur faciale (3,30€) et la mention latine "Rugerius Boscovich" de son nom.
To commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Croatian physicist, astronomer, mathematician, architect, diplomat and philosopher Ruđer Bošković (1711-1787), the postal administrations of Croatia and Vatican City have issued on September 13, 2011, a joint stamp.
I was lucky to receive the nice illustrated cover below, mailed on November 15, 2011 from Rijeka, with the Croatian version of this stamp (print run : 200,000).

Dragan had the good idea to print to the left the Vatican version of this stamp, including a high nominal value (€ 3.30) and the Latin words "Rugerius Boscovich" of his name.

Ce timbre (conçu par Sabina Rešić) représente, sur sa partie droite, un portrait de Ruđer Bošković d'après un tableau du peintre R. Edge Pine, conservé aujourd'hui dans le couvent des Franciscains à Dubrovnik (sa ville de naissance), exécuté lors de sa visite à Londres en 1760.
Bošković rejoint très jeune le collège romain de Rome où il étudie les mathématiques et la physique. Il devient ensuite conseiller pontifical du pape Benoît XIV concernant les questions techniques et en particulier la consolidation de la coupole de la basilique Saint-Pierre en 1742 (évoquée sur la partie gauche de ce timbre).
Bošković publia en 1755 une première carte du territoire de l'état du Vatican. Il se rendra ensuite à Paris en 1773 où le roi Louis XV le nommera directeur d'optique au service de la Marine. Il retourne en Italie à partir de 1783 et décède à Milan en 1787.
Pour le pape actuel, Benoît XVI, "l'existence de Bošković démontre la possibilité de faire vivre en harmonie la science et la foi".
This stamp (designed by Sabina Rešić) depicts, on its right part, a portrait of Ruđer Bošković after a painting by R. Edge Pine, now kept in the Franciscan monastery of Dubrovnik (his birthplace), executed during his visit to London in 1760.
Bošković joined the Roman College in Rome at a very young age, where he studied mathematics and physics. He then became consultant of Pope Benedict XIV for all important technical questions and in particular the fortification of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in 1742 (mentioned on the left side on this stamp).
Bošković published in 1755 the first map of the territory of the State of the Vatican. He then travelled to Paris in 1773 where King Louis XV appointed him Director of Optics for the Marine. He returned to Italy from 1783 and died in Milan in 1787.
For the current pope, Benedict XVI, "Bošković's life shows that it's possible to harmonize science and faith".

Ce pli concerne le timbre "Lettre Verte" ("Carta Verda" en catalan), émis par la poste française en avant-première le 30 septembre 2011 (vente générale le 1er octobre 2011).
Le même concept que pour la série "Lettre Verte" émise en France a été retenu : l'utilisation de ce timbre sur une lettre assure qu'il sera transporté de façon plus respectueuse de l'environnement en privilégiant le train par exemple...

This letter is devoted to the "Green Letter" ("Carta Verda" in Catalan) stamp, issued by the French Post in preview sale on September 30, 2011 (general sale : October 1, 2011).
The same "Green Letter" French concept was chosen for this issue : the use of this stamp on a letter ensures that it will be transported in a more environmentally friendly way by privileging train for example...

Ce timbre (tirage : 90000), conçu par Stéphanie Ghinéa, s'inspire également du graphisme de son homologue français en incluant le blason d'Andorre (figurant sur la série courante actuelle) dans une feuille d'arbre. Cette même feuille figure également sur le timbre à date Premier Jour (sans mention précise de ville, comme de coutume...).
A noter que pour l'instant, un unique timbre andorran (lettre jusqu'à 20g vers Andorre et la France, soit 0,57€ actuellement) a été émis alors que la France a émis des timbres "Lettre Verte" pour 3 autres échelons de poids.
This stamp (print run : 90,000), designed by Stéphanie Ghinéa, is also based on the design of its French counterpart, including the coat of arms of Andorra (featured in the current definitive series) inside a leaf. This same tree leaf is also depeicted on the FDC cancellation (without any specific mention of city, as usual...).
To note that for now, only this Andorran stamp (letter up to 20g to Andorra and France, currently € 0.57) has been issued while France has issued "Green Letter" stamps for three other levels of weight.

Timbre Noël 2011 en Autriche

Après un timbre de l'Avent émis le 11.11.11 (présenté dans un précédent article sur ce blog), la poste autrichienne a émis, comme de coutume, un autre timbre consacré cette fois aux fêtes de Noël.
C'est ce timbre qui figure sur l'enveloppe spéciale ci-dessous (merci beaucoup Edna !) avec un impressionnant timbre à date du jour d'émission (25 novembre 2011 à Vienne) qui ne me semble toutefois pas être le cachet Premier Jour...
Cette oblitération fait en effet référence à l'exposition philatélique Saint-Gabriel.
A noter qu'un autre timbre de Noël autocollant (une première !) a également été émis le 18 novembre 2011, intitulé "Maria Plain" (missel du 12ème siècle).
Following an "Advent" stamp issued on 11.11.11 (shown in a previous post on this blog), the Austrian Post has issued, as usual, another stamp dedicated this time to Christmas.
It is that stamp that appears on the special cover below (thank you very much Edna !) with an impressive First Day of Issue cancellation (November 25, 2011 in Vienna) that seems not to be however the official FDC postmark...
This postmark indeed refers to the St. Gabriel stamp exhibition.
To note that another self-adhesive Christmas stamp (a first !) was also issued on November 18, 2011, entitled "Maria Plain" (12th century missal).

Le timbre à 0,62€ ci-dessus (tirage : 4 millions), conçu par Adolf Tuma, reproduit une oeuvre du 14ème siècle intitulée "Geburt Christi" ("naissance du Christ") faisant partie d'une série de 7 peintures dont l'auteur est inconnu.
Cette Nativité est conservée dans le riche musée de la cathédrale de Vienne ("Dommuseum Wien"), créé en 1933, qui présente au public une collection permanente d'objets sacrés datant des 1000 dernières années.
Edna a ajouté sur sa lettre à gauche les 2 nouvelles vignettes de distributeur (0,05€ et 0,10€ ici) de la poste autrichienne (également émises le 25 novembre 2011), représentant respectivement un paysage enneigé et différents présents de Noël. Edna s'est procuré ces vignettes à la boutique philatélique ("Philatelie.Shop") de la poste à Vienne.
The € 0.62 stamp above (print run : 4,000,000), designed by Adolf Tuma, reproduces a work dating from the 14th century entitled "Geburt Christi" ("Birth of Christ") being part of a series of seven paintings whose author is unknown.
This Nativity scene is kept in the rich Vienna Cathedral Museum ("Dommuseum Wien"), established in 1933, introducing to the public a permanent collection of sacred objects dating back 1,000 years.
Edna has added on her letter, to the left, the two new ATM stamps (€ 0.05 and € 0.10 here) of the Austrian Post (also issued on November 25, 2011), featuring respectively a snowy landscape and different Christmas presents. Edna has purchased these stamps at the philatelic shop ("Philatelie.Shop") of the Post in Vienna.

A Romania/Moldova joint stamp issue

Le 27 août 1991, le parlement de la république de Moldavie adoptait une déclaration d'indépendance du pays. Deux jours plus tard, la Roumanie établissait des relations diplomatiques avec son voisin, proche culturellement et historiquement...
Les administrations postales de Moldavie et de Roumanie ont émis, le 11 octobre 2011, une série de 2 timbres communs pour commémorer le 20ème anniversaire de ces relations diplomatiques.
Ces 2 timbres représentent deux monument emblématiques des 2 capitales : l'arc de triomphe à Bucarest et la Porte Sainte à Chisinau.
On August 27, 1991, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted a declaration of independence. Two days later, Romania established diplomatic relations with its neighbor, sharing many cultural and historical aspects...
The postal administrations of Moldova and Romania have issued on October 11, 2011, a series of two joint stamps to commemorate the 20th anniversary of these diplomatic relations.
These two stamps featuring two emblematic monument of the two capitals : the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest and the Holy Gates in Chisinau.

La poste moldave a émis ces 2 timbres, conçus par Vitaliu Pogolşa, sous la forme d'un bloc-feuillet (tirage : 25000) ainsi que dans une feuille de 8 timbres + 1 vignette centrale (tirage : 25000).
Deux timbres de cette feuille, avec la vignette centrale (représentant les armoiries des 2 pays), figurent sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessus avec timbre à date de Chisinau. Merci beaucoup Sergio :-)
Le timbre à gauche (1,20L) représente la "Porte Sainte" ("Porţile Sfinte"), appelé Arc de triomphe lors de sa construction en 1840-1841 (architecte : Luca Zauşkevici), située dans le centre de Chisinau, près de la Cathédrale, de l'assemblée nationale et du siège du gouvernement moldave. Cet édifice de 13 mètres de haut a été construit pour célébrer les victoires de l'armée russe contre les troupes ottomanes (une cloche pesant plus de 6 tonnes y était installée, fondue à partir de canons turcs).
The Post of Moldova has issued these two stamps, designed by Vitaliu Pogolşa, in a souvenir sheet (print run : 25,000) and in a sheet of 8 stamps + 1 central vignette (print run : 25,000).
Two stamps from this sheet, with the central vignette (depicting the arms of the two countries), appear on the nice official FDC above with cancellation of Chisinau. Thank you very much Sergio :-)
The stamp to the left (L 1.20) features the "Holy Gates" ("Porţile Sfinte"), called Arch of Triumph in the past during its construction in 1840-1841 (architect : Luca Zauşkevici), located in the center of Chisinau, near the Cathedral, the National Assembly and headquarters of the Moldovan government. This 13 meters high building was initialy built to celebrate the victories of the Russian army against the Ottoman troops (a bell weighing over 6 tons was installed here, melted from Turkish cannons).

J'ai eu la chance de recevoir également la version roumaine de cette série à travers l'imposant bloc-feuillet figurant sur la lettre ci-dessus postée le 3 novembre 2011 de la ville de Coşeşti. Merci beaucoup Christian :-)
La poste roumaine a émis ces 2 timbres également sous différentes formes : 11800 bloc-feuillets, 4700 feuillets de 8 timbres + 1 vignette, 3000 feuilles de 28 timbres.
La marge centrale de ce bloc, ainsi que le timbre à gauche (3,10L), représente l'Arc de Triomphe de Bucarest, construit en 1922 pour rendre hommage aux soldats roumains morts pendant la 1ère guerre mondiale. Ce monument de 27 mètres de haut célèbre également la Grande Union de la Roumanie le 1er décembre 1918.
L'Arc de Triomphe de Paris a inspiré ce monument, y compris la tombe du soldat inconnu.
I was lucky to also receive the Romanian version of this series through the impressive souvenir sheet included on the cover above mailed on November 3, 2011 from the city of Coşeşti. Thank you very much Christian :-)
The Romanian Post has also issued these two stamps in different forms : 11,800 miniature sheets, 4,700 sheets of 8 stamps + 1 vignette, 3,000 sheets of 28 stamps.
The central margin of this miniature sheet, as well as the stamp to the left (L 3.10), depicts the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest, built in 1922 to pay tribute to the Romanian soldiers who died during the first world war. This monument (27 meters high) is also celebrating the Great Union of Romania of December 1, 1918.
The "Arc de Triomphe" of Paris has inspired this monument, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

De nombreuses administrations postales ont commémoré cette année le 50ème anniversaire du 1er vol spatial habité, un certain 12 avril 1961, grâce au cosmonaute soviétique Youri Gagarine qui deviendra une véritable icône internationale.

Many postal administrations have commemorated this year the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight, that took place on April 12, 1961, with Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin who became then a true international icon.
I've already spoken on this blog about some of these issues (Moldova, San Marino...). Here is a new one from Azerbaijan, on this nice registered letter below mailed on November 10, 2011 from Baku. Thank you very much Mahir :-)

Le bloc-feuillet ci-dessus, émis le 12 avril 2011 (50 ans jour pour jour après ce fameux vol !), est constitué de 3 timbres dessinés par Kh. Mirzoyev, pratiquement l'unique concepteur des timbres émis ces dernières années en Azerbaïdjan !
Les 2 timbres en bas et en haut évoquent respectivement la capsule Vostok 1 qui a transporté Youri Gagarine dans l'espace et la station spatiale internationale ("Beynəlxalq Kosmik Stansiya" en azéri).
J'aime beaucoup le timbre horizontal au centre (1 manat), sans dentelure à gauche et à droite, reproduisant une oeuvre du dessinateur et peintre azerbaïdjanais Tahir Salahov (né en 1928), intitulée "Vous, Humanité !".
Représentant du "style sévère" (en vogue en URSS dans les années 1960), Salahov a peint cette toile en 1961 pour rendre hommage à ce 1er vol spatial habité.
The souvenir sheet above, issued on April 12, 2011 (50 years to the day after that famous flight !), includes three stamps designed by Kh. Mirzoyev, almost the only designer of the stamps issued in Azerbaijan in recent years
The two stamps in the top and bottom parts evoke respectively the Vostok 1 capsule that carried Yuri Gagarin into space and the International Space Station ("Beynəlxalq Kosmik Stansiya" in Azeri).
I really like the horizontal stamp in the center (1 manat) without any perforation to the left and right, reproducing a canvas by Azerbaijani artist and painter Tahir Salahov (b. 1928), entitled "You, Humanity !".
A figure of the "severe style" (a art trend in USSR in the 1960s), Salahov has painted this work in 1961 to pay tribute to this human's first flight to space.

Un court message pour vous montrer cette lettre très spéciale postée le 10 novembre 2011 du village d'Himmelpfort ("Porte du ciel") situé dans le land de Brandebourg (nord-est de l'Allemagne). Merci beaucoup Igor :-)
Ce village ne doit pas être confondu avec Himmelpforten (Land de Basse-Saxe), connu comme étant le "village du Père Noël" ("Christkinddorf") et où est situé, depuis 1966, le bureau de poste officiel du Père Noël allemand.
A short post to show you this very special letter mailed on November 10, 2011 from the village of Himmelpfort ("Gate of Heaven") located in the Land of Brandenburg (northeastern Germany). Thank you very much Igor :-)
This village should not be confused with Himmelpforten (Land of Lower Saxony), known as the "Santa Claus Village" ("Christkinddorf") where is located, since 1966, the official post office of Santa Claus in Germany.

Le timbre à date spécial ci-dessus inclut la mention "Weihnachtpostfiliale" et "Deutsche Post" avec le Père Noël (ou Saint-Nicolas ?) au centre.
Le timbre à droite (0,55€ + 0,25€) fait partie de la série de bienfaisance composée de 2 timbres de Noël, émise le 10 novembre 2011, consacrée cette année à des vitraux.
Ce joli timbre, conçu par Karen Scholz, représente un détail (Saint-Nicolas) d'un vitrail situé dans l'église paroissiale Saint-Nicolas de la ville de Rheurdt am Niederrhein située dans le nord-ouest de l'Allemagne près de la frontière avec les Pays-Bas.
The special postmark above includes the words "Weihnachtpostfiliale" and "Deutsche Post" with Santa Claus (or St. Nicolas ?) in the center.
The stamp to the right (€ 0.55 + € 0.25) is part of the charity series consisting of two Christmas stamps, issued on November 10, 2011, devoted this year to stained glass.
This beautiful stamp, designed by Karen Scholz, shows a detail (St. Nicolas) of a stained glass window located in the St. Nicolas parish church of the city of Rheurdt am Niederrhein, located in the northwest of Germany near the border with the Netherlands.

Musée Central de l'Armée en Algérie - timbre spécial

Le 1er novembre 1984, 30 ans jour pour jour après le déclenchement de la révolution algérienne qui mènera à l'indépendance du pays 8 ans plus tard, le musée central de l'armée était inauguré à Alger, occupant 17000 m² sur la colline d'El-Madania, non loin du Mémorial du martyr.
27 ans jour pour jour après cette inauguration (quel étrange anniversaire !), la poste algérienne a émis un timbre commémoratif (15 dinars) consacré à ce musée.
On November 1, 1984, 30 years to the day after the launching of the Algerian revolution that will lead to the country's independence eight years later, the Central Museum of the Army was inaugurated in Algiers, occupying 17,000 m² on the hill of El-Madania, not far from the Martyrs Memorial.
27 years to the day after this inauguration (what a strange anniversary !), the Algerian Post has issued a commemorative stamp (15 Dinars) devoted to this museum.

Ce musée expose principalement des pièces militaires (armes, munitions, matériel, uniformes, documents, maquettes, tableaux...) ayant un lien avec la guerre de libération du pays.
Mais ce musée possède également d'autres objets précieux classés par ordre chronologique (de la préhistoire à la période actuelle).

This museum exhibits mainly military pieces (weapons, ammunition, equipment, uniforms, documents, models, paintings...) connected with the war of liberation.

Le 24 novembre 2010, les administrations postales du Kazakhstan et d'Azerbaïdjan ont émis une jolie série commune de 2 timbres consacrée à la faune de la mer Caspienne.
C'est cette série de 2 timbres (60 qəpik chacun) se-tenant, émise en feuillet de 4 paires, qui figure sur cette lettre.

On November 24, 2010, the postal administrations of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have issued a nice joint set of two stamps dedicated to the fauna of the Caspian Sea.
It is this set of two se-tenant stamps (60 qəpik each), issued in sheet of four pairs, that appears on this cover.

Les 2 pays, à travers cette émission, ont voulu sensibiliser le public à la fragilité de l'écosystème de la mer Caspienne (bordée par la Russie, l'Azerbaïdjan, l'Iran, le Turkménistan et le Kazakhstan), menacé par les rejets industriels et l'exploitation intensive des hydrocarbures depuis de nombreuses années...
Certaines espèces d'oiseaux nidificateurs ou migrateurs sont particulièrement menacées comme le flamant rose (Phoenicopterus roseus) sur le timbre à gauche conçu par Khasay Mirzoyev (Azerbaïdjan) et le crabier chevelu (Ardeola ralloides) sur l'autre timbre conçu par Danijar Mukhamedjanov (Kazakhstan).
The two countries, through this stamp series, wanted to raise awareness of the fragility of the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea (bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan), threatened by industrial discharges and an intensive exploitation of hydrocarbons for many years...
Some species of nesting or migratory birds are particularly threatened like Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) on the stamp to the left designed by Khasay Mirzoyev (Azerbaijan) and Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides) on the other stamp designed by Danijar Mukhamedjanov (Kazakhstan).

Le 22 mars 2011, la Royal Mail a émis une splendide série de 10 timbres consacrée à la protection de la nature représentant différentes têtes de mammifères menacés (éléphant, gorille, tigre, ours polaire, rhinocéros noir...).
Sans doute un clin d'oeil au 50ème anniversaire du WWF, le logo de l'organisation internationale (et son célèbre panda) est inclus sur ces 10 timbres.
Le même jour, un bloc-feuillet de 4 timbres, au graphisme complètement différent, a également été émis (incluant aussi le logo du WWF).
C'est ce bloc-feuillet haut-en-couleurs, intitulé "L'Amazonie en vie", qui figure sur la lettre ci-dessous :-)
On March 22, 2011, the Royal Mail has issued a beautiful series of 10 stamps devoted to the protection of nature, featuring different heads of threatened mammals (elephant, gorilla, tiger, polar bear, black rhinoceros...).
Maybe a nod to the 50th anniversary of WWF, the logo of the international organization (and its famous panda) is included on these 10 stamps.
The same day, a souvenir sheet of four stamps, with a completely different design, has also been issued (including also the logo of the WWF).
It's this colorful souvenir sheet, entitled "Amazon alive", that appears on the letter below :-)

J'ai en fait profiter de la présence de la poste britannique (qui était l'invité d'honneur) au dernier Salon Philatélique d'Automne à Paris pour confectionner cette enveloppe. A noter le timbre à date spécial de la Royal Mail en haut à droite émis pour l'occasion (avec l'incontournable tour Eiffel...).
Cette lettre n'a été postée que le 28 novembre 2011 d'après l'oblitération mécanique apposée dans le "Royal Mail Mount Pleasant Sorting Office", le plus grand centre de tri de la Royal Mail à Londres.
Le bloc ci-dessus est donc consacré à des espèces particulièrement menacées vivant en Amérique du sud, dans la forêt amazonienne en particulier, d'où le logo EUROPA (thème 2011 : les forêts) figurant sur le timbre au tarif permanent 1st en haut à gauche (atèle).
Les 3 autres espèces représentées sont l'ara hyacinthe, le jaguar et une grenouille de la famille dendrobatidae (dont la peau secrète souvent un venin toxique).
La marge supérieure du bloc mentionne qu'une espèce animale sur 10 vit dans la forêt amazonienne et qu'une surface équivalente à 3 terrains de foot est détruite chaque minute...
I actually enjoyed the participation of the British Post (that was the guest of honor) at the last "Salon Philatélique d'Automne" in Paris to make this envelope. To note the special postmark of the Royal Mail in the upper right issued for this occasion (with the inevitable Eiffel Tower...).
This letter has been posted only on November 28, 2011 according to the mechanical cancellation applied at the "Royal Mail Mount Pleasant Sorting Office", the largest sorting office operated by the Royal Mail in London.
The sheet above is thus devoted to critically endangered species living in South America, in the Amazon rainforest in particular, that's why the EUROPA logo (2011 theme : Forests) is included on the permanent 1st rate stamp in the upper left (Spider Monkey).
The three other species depicted are the Hyacinth Macaw, the Jaguar and a Poison Dart frog (often secreting toxins through their skin).
The top margin of the sheet mentions that one in ten species of life on Earth live in the Amazon rainforest and that a surface area equivalent to three football pitches is lost every minute...

Pour faire suite à mon message précédent, je souhaitais partager avec vous le visuel des timbres programmés par l'administration postale de Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (SPM) en 2012.
Ce programme ci-dessous était en effet distribué sur le stand de la poste de SPM lors du Salon Philatélique d'Automne organisé début novembre 2011 à Paris.
Je vous laisse vous faire votre propre opinion concernant le visuel des timbres ci-dessous.
Further to my previous post today, I wanted to share with you the design of the stamps scheduled by the postal administration of Saint Pierre and Miquelon (SP&M) in 2012.
This stamp program below was indeed distributed at the booth of the Post of SP&M at the "Salon Philatélique d'Automne" held in Paris early in November 2011.
I'll let you make your own opinion about this program below.

Mon coup de coeur va à la série de 4 timbres (0,60€ chacun, émis se-tenant ?) consacrée à la faune marine.
J'aime bien aussi la becquée des hirondelles sur le timbre en haut à droite (0,47€).
Marc Taraskoff, le directeur artistique de la philatélie de SPM, a pour projet de faire graver les 5 cadres inclus sur le timbre panoramique en haut à droite ("Collections Archipélitude") par 5 artistes différents (le fond du timbre étant imprimé en offset). Cela constituerait peut-être une première mondiale !
My favorite set is the series of four (se-tenant ?) stamps (€ 0.60 each devoted to marine life.
I also like the stamp at the top right (€ 0.47) on which a swallow is feeding a young bird.
Marc Taraskoff, the artistic director of SP&M's philately, has the project of engraving the five frames included on the horizontal stamp in the upper right ("Collections Archipélitude") by five different artists (the background of the stamp being printed in offset). This would be maybe a world first !

Emission commune TAAF/SPM - Premier Jour

A TAAF/SP&M joint issue - First Day Cover

Pour la 1ère fois, les administrations postales de Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (SPM) et des Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises (TAAF), deux territoires français d'outremer, ont émis un bloc-feuillet commun.
A noter qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une première puisque la Nouvelle-Calédonie et Wallis-et-Futuna avaient déjà émis en 2003 une série commune consacrée au peintre Gauguin.
L'émission Premier Jour de cette série a eu lieu le 3 novembre 2011 dans le cadre du Salon Philatélique d'Automne à Paris, où les 2 administrations postales étaient présentes sur un stand commun.
For the first time, the postal administrations of Saint Pierre and Miquelon (SP&M) and the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF), two French overseas territories, have issued a joint souvenir sheet.
To note that it is not a first since New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna had already issued in 2003 a joint stamp issue devoted to French painter Gauguin.
The First Day of issue of this series took place on November 3, 2011 at the "Salon Philatélique d'Automne" in Paris, where the two postal administrations were present on a joint stand.

J'ai profité de ma visite à ce Salon philatélique parisien pour confectionner l'enveloppe ci-dessus, affranchie avec ce joli bloc-feuillet commun (1,10€) émis par SPM, qui a transité par Saint-Pierre où un timbre à date Premier Jour a été apposé avant de repartir pour la France...
Ce bloc-feuillet représente au centre l'escorteur d'escadre "Forbin", compagnon du porte-hélicoptères "Jeanne d'Arc", en activité entre 1958 et 1981.
Ce navire a été choisi pour cette émission commune car il est passé au large des îles Kerguelen (TAAF) en janvier 1978 et près de SPM en avril 1980. Deux arches naturelles de ces 2 territoires (Pointe du Cap Percé à gauche et Arche des Kerguelen à droite) sont représentées de chaque côté du "Forbin".
A noter les signatures respectives de Marc Taraskoff (dessinateur) et d'Elsa Catelin (graveuse) dans la marge supérieure de ce bloc :-)
I enjoyed my visit to this Philatelic Exhibition in Paris to make the envelope above, franked with this nice joint souvenir sheet (€ 1.10) issued by SP&M, which passed through Saint-Pierre, where the FDC postmark was applied before leaving for France...
This souvenir sheet features at its center the escort ship "Forbin", companion of the French Navy's helicopter cruiser "Jeanne d'Arc", in service between 1958 and 1981.
This vessel was chosen for this joint issue because he was off the Kerguelen Islands (TAAF) in January 1978 and close to SP&M in April 1980. Two natural arches of these two territories ("Pointe du Cap Percé" to the left and "Arche of Kerguelen" to the right) are depicted on each side of the "Forbin".
To note the respective signatures of Mark Taraskoff (designer) and Elsa Catelin (engraver) in the top margin of this sheet :-)

Grâce à Roland (merci beaucoup !!) qui a confectionné le splendide document philatélique ci-dessus, vous pouvez admirer les 2 versions de ce bloc-feuillet commun avec leurs oblitérations Premier Jour respectives de Paris (SPM) et des Kerguelen (TAAF).
Les 2 administrations postales ont en effet chacune proposé au public à Paris deux timbres à date Premier Jour (Paris et Saint-Pierre pour SPM, Paris et Kerguelen pour les TAAF).
A noter que, d'après le n° de décembre de "Timbres Magazine", une autre émission commune est prévue le 31 décembre 2011 entre les TAAF et Mayotte (devenu département français et qui n'émettra plus de timbres spécifiques à partir de 2012)... à suivre.

To note that, according to the last (December 2011) "Timbres Magazine" (a French philatelic revue), an other joint issue is scheduled for December 31, 2011 between the TAAF and Mayotte (a new French department that will no longer issue specific stamps from 2012)...

Le 1er courrier ci-dessous, posté le 4 novembre 2011, est affranchi avec un timbre (75 shillings kényans) faisant partie d'une série de 4 timbres, émise le 7 février 2008, consacrée au 24ème congrès de l'UPU (Union Postale Universelle) qui devait être organisé à Nairobi, la capitale du Kenya, du 13 août au 3 septembre 2008...

The first cover below, posted on November 4, 2011, is franked with a stamp (75 Kenyan shillings) being part of a series of four stamps, issued on February 7, 2008, devoted to the 24th UPU (Universal Postal Union) Congress to be held in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, from 13 August to 3 September 2008...

Ce timbre montre un athlète kényan dans une épreuve du 3000 mètre steeple (quel est le rapport avec l'UPU ?), une discipline dans laquelle les sportifs du pays s'illustrent régulièrement lors des grandes compétitions internationales.
A noter qu'en raison des tensions dans le pays en 2008, ce 24ème congrès de l'UPU a finalement été organisé à Genève en Suisse (le siège de l'UPU étant situé à Berne).
Avant cette décision, de nombreuses administrations postales africaines (Soudan, Afrique du sud, Maurice, Niger, Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzanie...) avaient déjà émis des timbres consacrés à ce congrès de l'UPU qui devait être organisé pour la 2ème fois seulement sur le continent africain, après Le Caire en 1934...
This stamp shows a Kenyan athlete in a 3,000 meter steeplechase event (what is the link with UPU ?), a discipline in which country's athletes regularly win major international competitions.
To note that due to riots in the country in 2008, this 24th UPU Congress took finally place in Geneva, Switzerland (the UPU headquarters being located in Berne).
Before this decision, many African postal administrations (Sudan, South Africa, Mauritius, Niger, Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania...) had already issued stamps devoted to this UPU Congress to be organized for the second time only in Africa, after Cairo in 1934...

Bhavin a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer également la 2ème lettre spéciale ci-dessus, postée le 11.11.11 !
Les 2 timbres courants font partie d'une série de 18 timbres courants, émise en 2001, consacrés à des fruits et des plantes cultivées dans le pays, la noix de coco (35 shillings) et le sisal (40 shillings), une plante dont les fibres sont utilisées pour la fabrication de tissus et de tapis, ici.
A noter que cette série de timbres est sans doute une des dernières à avoir été imprimée par la société Courvoisier (Suisse), qui a cessé son activité en 2001...

The two definitive stamps are part of a series of 18 stamps, issued in 2001, depicting fruits and plants growing in the country, Coconut (35 shillings) and Sisal (40 shillings), a plant whose fibers are used in the manufacture of fabrics and carpets, here.
To note that this set of stamps is probably one of the last one to have been printed by the company Courvoisier (Switzerland), which ceased operations in 2001...

60 ans du HCR en Moldavie - timbre spécial

UNHCR's 60th anniversary in Moldova - Special stamp

La poste de Moldavie est la seule administration postale dans le monde a commémorer cette année le 60ème anniversaire de la création du Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (HCR).
Un timbre spécial (1,20 L) a en effet été émis le 25 novembre 2011, évoquant deux mains protégeant un groupe de réfugiés, avec le logo de l'agence des Nations Unies dans la partie supérieure.
C'est ce timbre qui figure sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessous (tirage : 300 exemplaires), conçu par Vitalie Roşca, avec timbre à date Premier Jour de Chișinău. Merci beaucoup Sergio :-)
The Post of Moldova is the only postal administration in the world to commemorate this year the 60th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
A special stamp (L 1.20) has indeed been issued on November 25, 2011, featuring two hands protecting a group of refugees, with the logo of the UN refugee agency at the top.
It is that stamp that appears on the nice official FDC below (print run : 300 only !), designed by Vitalie Roşca, with a FDC cancellation of Chişinău. Thank you very much Sergio :-)

Ce timbre commémore en fait le 60ème anniversaire de l'adoption en 1951 par les Nations Unies de la Convention de Genève sur les réfugiés.
Cette convention a été créée pour venir en aide aux 2 millions d'européens déplacés après la 2ème guerre mondiale. Près de 44 millions de personnes ont aujourd'hui le statut de réfugié dans le monde, dont 2200 en Moldavie, principalement des apatrides et de demandeurs d'asile venant d'Afrique ou des anciennes républiques de l'URSS.

This stamp commemorates in fact the 60th anniversary of the adoption (in 1951) by the United Nations of the Geneva Convention on Refugees.
This Convention was created to help the 2 million displaced Europeans after the second world war. Nearly 44 million people have today this refugee's status in the world, including 2,200 in Moldova, mostly stateless people and asylum seekers from Africa or the former Soviet republics.
UNHCR is present in Moldova since 1997, helping the government to integrate these refugees, offering them housing, language courses...
To note that the Post of Moldova had already issued a commemorative stamp in 2001 devoted to the UNHCR's 50th anniversary.

Merci beaucoup S.S. Rath pour cette lettre postée le 14 octobre 2011 de la ville de Bhubaneswar, incluant 2 timbres identiques (tirage : 300000 exemplaires).
A short post to share with you this interesting official FDC of the Indian Post, issued on September 30, 2011 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI).
Thank you very much S.S. Rath for this letter mailed on October 14, 2011 from the city of Bhubaneswar, including two identical stamps (print run : 300,000).

A noter que cette association indienne des infirmières a en fait célébré les 100 ans de sa création en 2008... la poste indienne a dû oublié cet anniversaire à ce moment là ;)
Les principaux objectifs de cette association nationale non politique et non sectorielle sont de défendre la dignité et l'honneur de cette profession, d'encourager l'esprit d'équipe et de faire évoluer les infirmières sur le plan professionnel, éducatif et économique...
Le timbre ci-dessus (500 roupies, conçu par Kamleshwar Singh) rend hommage à ces infirmières qui consacrent leurs vies au bien-être, aux soins et à la guérison des malades.
To note that this Indian Nurses Association has actually celebrated the 100th anniversary of its establishment in 2008... It seems that the Indian Post had forgotten this anniversary at the time ;)
The main objectives of this non-political and non-sectoral National Association are to uphold the dignity and honor of the profession, to encourage team spirit and to advance professional, educational and economic welfare of nurses...
The stamp above (500 rupees, designed by Kamleshwar Singh) pays tribute to the nurses who dedicate their lives to the welfare, care and healing of ill people.

Les fêtes de Noël arrivent à grand pas et certaines administrations postales nous le rappellent en commençant à envoyer à leurs clients des souvenirs philatéliques consacrés à cette période !
J'en ai déjà reçu de très nombreux et voici les 2 premiers ci-dessous en provenance d'Aland et de Suisse :-)
Voici ci-dessous la carte spéciale émise par Posten Aland, conçue à partir du visuel du timbre de Noël émis le 7 octobre 2011.
Christmas festivities are fast approaching and some postal administrations are reminding it to us by sending to their customers some philatelic souvenirs devoted to this period !
I have already received many and here are the first two below from Aland and Switzerland :-)
You can see below the special card issued by Posten Aland, inspired by the Christmas stamp issued on October 7, 2011.

Ce timbre, représentant une jacinthe blanche dont la floraison intervient souvent pendant la période de Noël, est le premier conçu par la photographe suédoise Helene Schmitz (née en 1960) pour la poste d'Aland. Ce timbre est splendide et il est fort à parier que d'autres timbres suivront !
Helene Schmitz est célèbre en particulier pour ses photographies de gros plans de fleurs.
A noter également le timbre à date Premier Jour (fleur de jacinthe) sur cette carte.
La mention permanente "Julpost" ("poste de Noël") sur ce timbre, 0,60€ actuellement, indique qu'il est valable pour l'envoi d'une lettre de voeux vers Aland, la Suède et la Finlande pendant une période limitée en novembre et décembre.
This stamp, depicting a white hyacinth flower often blossoming during the Christmas period, is the first one designed by Swedish photographer Helene Schmitz (born 1960) for the Aland's Post. This stamp is really nice and I'm sure that many other stamps will follow !
Helene Schmitz is famous especially for her close-up photographs of flowers.
To note also the FDC cancellation (a Hyacinth flower) on this card.
The permanent "Julpost" ("Christmas postage") mention on this stamp, € 0.60 now, states that it is valid for sending a Christmas greetings letter to Aland, Sweden and Finland during a limited period in November and December.

L'autre face de cette carte ci-dessus qui est en fait un entier postal avec ce timbre "Port Payé" conçu également à partir de ce timbre de Noël.
A noter les mentions "Joyeux Noël" en suédois (la langue officielle de cet archipel associé à la Finlande), finnois et anglais ainsi que la signature de la responsable du service philatélique, Anita Häggblom.
The other side of this card above that is actually a postal stationery with this "Port Payé" ("Postage Paid") stamp also designed from this Christmas Stamp.
To note the words "Merry Christmas" in Swedish (the official language of this Finland's autonomous archipelago), Finnish and English and also the signature of the Head of Aland's Philatelic office, Anita Häggblom.

Son homologue suisse (réseau postal et vente), Patrick Salamin, a également signé le souvenir de la poste suisse ci-dessus.
Les 4 timbres identiques (1 CHF) font partie de la série de 3 timbres de Noël, émise le 24 novembre 2011, conçue par l'illustrateur zurichois Raphael Volery.
Un nouveau cycle commence avec cette série qui va se poursuivre en 2012 et 2013.
Ce timbre, avec son sapin décoré dans la neige, est sensé restituer l'atmosphère de Noël dans les villes et les campagnes suisses...
A noter également le timbre à date Premier Jour de Zurich ci-dessus.
Her Swiss counterpart (Post Offices and Sales), Patrick Salamin, has also signed the souvenir issued by the Swiss Post above.
The same four stamps (1 CHF) are part of the set of three Christmas stamps, issued on November 24, 2011, designed by illustrator Raphael Volery from Zurich.
A new cycle begins with this series that will continue in 2012 and 2013.
This stamp, with a decorated Christmas tree in the snow, is supposed to restore the atmosphere of Christmas in the Swiss town and countryside...
To note also the interesting FDC postmark from Zurich.

Taegeukgi on a new Korean definitive stamp

Le 1er octobre 2011, la poste coréenne a augmenté ses tarifs postaux et en particulier le tarif domestique pour une lettre standard jusqu'à 25g qui passe de 250 à 270 won.
Trois nouveaux timbres courants ont ainsi été émis le 1er octobre 2011 dont un timbre autocollant à 270 won (tirage : 20000000), émis en feuille de 20 timbres.
C'est ce timbre, conçu par Sojeong Kim, qui figure en 6 exemplaires sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous postée le 5 novembre 2011 de la ville de Busan. Merci beaucoup Ji-Ho :-)
On October 1, 2011, the Korean Post has increased its postage rates and in particular the domestic rate for a standard letter up to 25g which passes from 250 to 270 won.
Three new definitive stamps have been thus issued on October 1, 2011 including a self-adhesive stamp to 270 won (print run : 20 million), issued in sheet of 20 stamps.

Ce timbre courant représente le drapeau national de la Corée du sud (Taegeukgi), officiel depuis 1948.
Ce drapeau représente un Taijitu (symbole du Yin et Yang) rouge et bleu, sur fond blanc. Quatre trigrammes du Livre des Mutations évoquant les 4 éléments (terre, air, feu et eau) sont disposés dans les diagonales.
L'auteur de ce drapeau, Park Yeonghyo, a ainsi symbolisé l'idée d'harmonie universelle.
A noter également l'oblitération spéciale de Busan ci-dessus représentant un dragon et incluant le nombre "55" dans sa mystérieuse légende...
This definitive stamp features the national flag of Republic of Korea (Taegeukgi), official since 1948.
This flag depicts a red and blue Taijitu (symbol of Yin and Yang) on a white background. Four trigrams from the Book of Changes evoking the four elements (earth, air, fire and water) are placed in the diagonals.
The author of this flag, Park Yeonghyo, has symbolized the idea of ​​universal harmony.
To note also the special cancellation from Busan above featuring a dragon and including the number "55" in its mysterious legend...

Dernière minute (le 6 novembre 2011) : ce timbre à date évoque en fait le 55ème anniversaire du club philatélique de Busan, le plus ancien de Corée du sud. Le dragon évoque une statue située au pied de la Busan Tower (118 mètres de haut).
Last Minute (November 6, 2011) : this postmark actualy suggests the 55th anniversary of the Philatelic Club of Busan, the oldest Stamp Club in Korea. The dragon recalls a statue located at the foot of the Busan Tower (118 meters high).

Le bloc-feuillet ci-dessous (tirage : 15000 exemplaires), composé de 2 timbres, a été émis le 6 novembre 2009 pour célébrer la victoire de l'équipe masculine d'Azerbaïdjan aux championnats d'Europe d'échecs par équipe.

The souvenir sheet below (print run : 15,000), composed of two stamps, was issued on November 6, 2009 to celebrate the victory of the men's team of Azerbaijan in the European team chess Championships.

Ces championnats d'Europe 2009, qui avaient lieu à Novi Sad (Serbie) du 21 au 31 octobre 2009, ont vu s'opposer 38 équipes européennes.
L'Azerbaïdjan s'est donc imposé pour la 1ère fois, devant la Russie et l'Ukraine. Le pays a terminé à une belle 2ème place (derrière l'Allemagne) lors des championnats suivants organisés en Grèce en 2011...
Kh. Mirzoyev, le concepteur de ce bloc, a choisi d'évoquer les cases d'un échiquier ainsi que les différentes pièces du jeu.
Une carte de l'Azerbaïdjan figure sur le timbre à droite (1 manat) alors qu'une carte de l'Europe est représentée sur l'autre timbre (50 qəpik). A noter l'absence de la partie orientale de la Turquie (qui a participé à ces championnats d'échecs 2009) sur ce timbre, un pays pourtant proche historiquement et culturellement de l'Azerbaïdjan ?
These European Championships 2009 took place in Novi Sad, Serbia from 21 to 31 October 2009, where 38 countries of Europe were competing.

To note the absence of the eastern part of Turkey (that participated in these chess championship 2009) on this stamp, a country yet close historically and culturally of Azerbaijan ?

Un grand merci à la poste islandaise d'avoir utilisé de vrais timbres (c'est tellement rare !) pour affranchir le courrier ci-dessous, posté le 22 novembre 2011 de Reykjavik !
Presque tous les ans (ce ne fut pas le cas en 2011), la poste d'Islande célèbre la Journée du timbre ("Dagur frímerkisins") en émettant un bloc-feuillet spécial composé d'un timbre.
Un exemple ci-dessous avec le joli bloc émis en 2005 (le 7 octobre) montrant une vue aérienne de la capitale, Reykjavik, et de ses toits multicolores caractéristiques.

Le dernier timbre (45 ISK) fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres, émis le 10 mars 2005, consacrée à des espèces de souris, le mulot sylvestre (Apodemus sylvaticus) ici.
The panoramic stamp (300 ISK) above is part of an interesting series of five stamps, issued on May 24, 2007, devoted to different glaciers of the country.
