Ces 2 timbres (1900 et 2100 so'm, conception : E. Kanavets, tirage : 8000) ont été conçus à partir de photographies montrant une épreuve olympique d'haltérophilie (on reconnait l'athlète ouzbek Ivan Efremov lors des jeux de Londres en 2012) et une épreuve paralympique d'athlétisme (triple saut, quel est cet athlète ?).
Lors des jeux olympiques de Rio 2016, l'équipe ouzbek (70 athlètes engagés dans 15 sports) a obtenu le meilleur résultat de son histoire avec 13 médailles dont 4 en or (boxe et haltérophilie).
Le pays a remporté 31 médailles lors des jeux paralympiques de Rio 2016 dont 8 en or (athlétisme, judo et natation).
Le logo du comité olympique national Ouzbek est représenté en haut à gauche sur le timbre à 1900 so'm, conçu à partir du Khumo, l'oiseau sacré légendaire symbole de bonheur et de générosité, également présent sur les armoiries du pays.
