Le 25 février 2019, la poste française a mis en circulation, dans le cadre de sa série dédiée aux artistes contemporains, un timbre (2,10€, tirage : 600000) consacré à l'artiste plasticienne et photographe Valérie Belin (née en 1964), vivant et travaillant à Paris.
Valérie Belin a étudié les beaux-arts à Versailles et Bourges entre 1983 et 1988 lorsqu'elle a obtenu le diplôme national supérieur d'expression plastique. Elle est également titulaire d'un DEA en philosophie de l'art.
Influencée d'abord par différents courants minimalistes et conceptuels, Valérie Belin s'est intéressée au medium photographique, qui est à la fois le sujet de son œuvre et son moyen de réflexion et de création.
La lumière, la matière et le "corps" des choses et des êtres en général, ainsi que leurs transformations et représentations, constituent le terrain de ses expérimentations et l'univers de son propos artistique.
On February 25, 2019, the French Post has put into circulation, as part of its series about contemporary artists, a new stamp (€ 2.10, print run: 600,000) dedicated to the visual artist and photographer Valérie Belin (born in 1964 ), living and working in Paris.
Valérie Belin studied fine arts in Versailles and Bourges between 1983 and 1988 when she obtained the French higher national diploma in visual expression. She also holds a diploma in advanced studies (DEA) in the philosophy of art.
Initially influenced by various minimalist and conceptual tendencies, Valérie Belin became interested in the photographic medium in its own right; this is at once the subject of her work and her way of reflecting and creating.
Light, matter and the "body" of things and beings in general, as well as their transformations and representations, constitute the terrain of her experiments and the world of her artistic ideas.
Le travail de Valérie Belin, parfois surnommée la "photographe aux mille visages", se manifeste sous la forme de séries photographiques, chacune étant réalisée dans le cadre d'un projet.
Ses œuvres ont été exposées dans le monde entier et font partie de nombreuses collections publiques et privées.
Lauréate du prix Pictet (décerné chaque année pour récompenser un photographe pour un travail consacré au thème du développement durable) en 2015, Valérie Belin a été nommée officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres en 2017.

A travers cette œuvre, Valérie Belin ne se sert pas de la photographie pour montrer la réalité mais plutôt la rendre confuse et s'interroger sur la beauté...

The works of Valérie Belin, sometimes referred to as the "thousand-faced photographer", is articulated in photographic series, each one produced within the framework of a specific project.
Her works have been exhibited around the world and are held in numerous public and private collections.
Winner of the Prix Pictet (awarded each year to reward a photographer for a work on the theme of sustainable development) in 2015, she was made an officer of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2017.

Through this work, Valérie Belin does not use photography to show reality but rather to confuse it and wonder about beauty ...
