"Reopening of KMSKA - Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp" stamp on FDC from Belgium

Timbre "Réouverture du KMSKA" sur FDC de Belgique

Après plus de 10 ans de travaux, le Musée Royal des Beaux-Arts d'Anvers (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen - KMSKA) a réouvert ses portes au public en septembre 2022.
A cette occasion, la poste belge bpost a mis en circulation, le 24 octobre 2022 (vente Premier Jour à Bruxelles), un intéressant bloc-feuillet (5 timbres différents, tirage : 45704 blocs-feuillets), conçu par Kris Maes, illustrant différentes œuvres emblématiques de ce musée.
Un de ces 5 timbres au tarif permanent domestique "2" (envoi non normalisé  NON PRIOR entre 0 et 100g, 2,72€ actuellement) figure sur cette lettre avec TAD Premier Jour de Bruxelles. Merci beaucoup Johan ! 
After more than 10 years of work, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen - KMSKA) reopened its doors to the public in September 2022.
On this occasion, the Belgian Post bpost put into circulation, on October 24, 2022 (First Day of issue in Brussels), an interesting souvenir sheet (5 different stamps, print run: 45,704 souvenir sheets), designed by Kris Maes, illustrating different emblematic works of this museum.
One of these 5 stamps at the permanent domestic rate "2" (not standardized NON PRIOR shipment between 0 and 100g, € 2.72 currently) is present on this letter with First Day cancellation from Brussels. Thank you very much Johan!

 

Parmi les 600 œuvres exposées dans ce musée, 5 ont été sélectionnées spécialement pour être reproduites pour la 1ère fois sur des timbres belges, 4 représentant des femmes et 1 seul un homme - c'est ce timbre qui a été utilisé sur cette enveloppe.
Ce timbre reproduit une partie de la peinture "Jacopo Pesaro présenté par le pape Alexandre VI à Saint Pierre" (1503) par le maître de la Renaissance italienne, Le Titien, la seule œuvre de ce peintre exposée en Belgique et l'un des chefs-d'œuvre reconnus de ce musée. 
Ce retable de taille moyenne a été commandé comme ex-voto pour la victoire de Santa Maura contre les Ottomans pendant la Guerre vénéto-ottomane (1499-1503), une victoire de la flotte vénitienne commandée par Jacopo Pesaro, évêque de Paphos à Chypre et représentant de la puissante famille Pesaro.
En 1823, ce tableau figurait dans les collections du roi des Pays-Bas Guillaume Ier, qui en fit don au musée d'Anvers, aujourd'hui le plus grand et le plus important musée dépendant de la Communauté flamande, ouvert en 1890.
Among the 600 works exhibited in this museum, 5 have been specially selected to be reproduced for the first time on Belgian stamps, 4 representing women and 1 only a man - it is this stamp that was used on this envelope.
This stamp reproduces part of the painting "Jacopo Pesaro being presented by Pope Alexander VI to Saint Peter" (1503) by the master of the Italian Renaissance, Titian, the only work by this painter exhibited in Belgium and one of the masterpieces recognized works of this museum.
This medium-sized altarpiece was commissioned as an ex-voto for the victory of Santa Maura against the Ottomans during the Veneto-Ottoman War (1499-1503), a victory of the Venetian fleet commanded by Jacopo Pesaro, Bishop of Paphos in Cyprus and representative of the powerful Pesaro family.
In 1823, this painting appeared in the collections of the King of the Netherlands William I, who donated it to the Antwerp Museum, today the largest and most important museum of the Flemish Community, opened in 1890.
