On June 11, 2026, the Bangladesh Post issued a stamp to mark the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
This stamp (10 BDT; designed by Jasim Uddin) was also printed in a souvenir sheet (selling price: 50 BDT), which was used on the cover below—mailed on August 12, 2026, from the city of Chattogram (the other name of Chittagong), the country's primary port and second-largest city. Thank you very much, Tofail!
The stamp depicts a stylized soccer player wearing the colors of the national flag (red and green), alongside the official logo of this FIFA World Cup as well as the flags of the three host nations.
In the left-hand margin, there are iconic landmarks from each of the three countries: the Statue of Liberty in New York (unveiled in 1886), the Angel of Independence in Mexico City (a column inaugurated in 1910 to commemorate the centennial of the start of Mexico's independence), and the CN Tower in Toronto (opened in 1976).
Note the rather "haphazard" perforation of the stamp on this souvenir sheet...
The Bangladesh national football team has never qualified for a World Cup final tournament (current FIFA world ranking: 182nd out of 211 countries/territories).
Since 2016, the Bangladesh postal service has regularly issued stamps dedicated to World Telecommunication and Information Society Day—a tradition that continued in 2026 with a stamp (10 BDT, designed by Sanjiv Kanti Das) released on May 17, 2026.
This stamp, featured on the right side of this cover, depicts planet Earth and incorporates the 2026 theme for this World Day: "Digital Lifelines – Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World".
May 17 marks the anniversary of the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865 and the establishment of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
