La poste indienne a émis, le 1er octobre 2009, une jolie et intéressante série de 3 timbres (500 P chacun) représentant des espèces animales rares vivant dans le nord-est du pays.
Ces 3 timbres figurent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous avec cachet "1er jour" de la ville de Bhubaneswar. Merci beaucoup S.S. Rath :-)
Le petit panda, ou panda roux (Ailurus fulgens), est un petit mammifère de la taille d'un gros chat, originaire de la région himalayenne (de l'état indien du Sikkim en particulier), du nord du Myanmar et de la Chine (Sichuan et Yunnan). Comme son grand cousin, le panda géant, son régime alimentaire se compose principalement de bambou. Cette espèce est en danger (réduction de son habitat, braconnage).
India Post has issued on October 1, 2009, a pretty and interesting set of three stamps (500 P each) picturing some rare animal species living in the north-east of India.
These three stamps are included on the official FDC below with a FDC postmark from the city of Bhubaneswar. Thank you very much S. S. Rath :-)
The Red Panda, or Firefox (Ailurus fulgens) is a small mammal, about the size of a large cat, native to the Himalayan region (from the Indian State of Sikkim in particular), northern Myanmar and China (Sichuan and Yunnan). Like its cousin, the Giant Panda, its diet consists mainly of bamboo. This species is endangered (reduction of habitat, poaching).

Le chat marbré (Pardofelis marmorata) est une espèce de félin de la taille d'un chat domestique dont la longue queue mesure la taille de son corps. Il se rencontre très rarement à l'état sauvage, principalement dans les forêts tropicales humides d'Asie du sud-est et de l'Himalaya. Cette espèce vulnérable est menacée par la déforestation.
La 3ème espèce animale représentée fait partie de la famille des singes semnopithèques (Trachypithecus barbei barbei) au pelage gris et noir, vivant dans l'état indien de l'Assam et au Bangladesh.
The Marbled Cat (Pardofelis marmorata) is a Felidae species similar in size to a domestic cat, with a long tail measuring the size of its body. It can be found very rarely in the wild, mainly in the rainforests of South-Eastern Asia and the Himalayas. This vulnerable species is threatened by deforestation.
The third species depicted is part of the Lutung Monkeys (Trachypithecus barbei barbei) with gray and black fur, living in the Indian State of Assam and Bangladesh.

Depuis une résolution de l'assemblée générale des Nations Unies du 15 juin 2007, la journée internationale de la non-violence est célébrée chaque 2 octobre, jour anniversaire de la naissance de Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), leader du mouvement pour l'indépendance de l'Inde et pionnier de la philosophie et de la stratégie de la non-violence.
La poste indienne a émis un timbre commémoratif, le 2 octobre 2009, représentant Gandhi.

A noter aussi la vignette sans valeur d'affranchissement ci-dessus montrant Gandhi et une colombe...
D'après les Nations Unies, cette journée doit permettre de diffuser le message de la non-violence, de la culture de la paix et de la tolérance, à travers des actions d'éducation et de sensibilisation...
A noter que l'Administration postale des Nations Unies (APNU, bureau de New-York) a émis également un timbre commémorant cette journée du 2 octobre sur lequel figure aussi un portrait de Mahatma Gandhi (par l'artiste Ferdie Pacheco).
Since a resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations of June 15, 2007, the International Day of Non-Violence is celebrated each October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), leader of the movement for independence of India and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
India Post has issued a commemorative stamp, on October 2, 2009, featuring Gandhi.

According to the United Nations, this Day should help to spread the message of non-violence, the culture of peace and tolerance, through education activities and awareness campaigns...
It's worth noting that the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA, office of New York) has also issued a stamp commemorating that International Day of October 2, on which is also reproduced a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi (by artist Ferdie Pacheco).
