100 ans du premier timbre - PAP marocain

First stamp's centenary - Prepaid cover from Morocco

In 2012, the Moroccan Post (Barid Al Maghrib) celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first postage stamp in Morocco with the issue, on May 22, of two special stamps.
The creation of a postal system in the country dates from 1892 when Sultan Hassan I decided to set up a network covering 13 cities in Morocco, each having two special (octogonal and round-shaped) postmarks called "cachets maghzen".
Before this date, several French, English, Spanish and German post offices have been implemented in Morocco, then using stamps of these countries, sometimes overprinted.
In 1911, Sultan Moulay Abdelhafid decided to modernize and reorganize the communication systems by creating the "Office Chérifien des postes, du téléphone et du télégraphe" and by issuing, on May 22, 1912, the first postage stamp depicting the Zawiya Aissaoua in Tangier.

On May 22, 2012, the Moroccan Post has thus issued two stamps commemorating this anniversary featuring respectively the centenary's logo and a work by the painter Hassan El Glaoui evoking a Fantasia, this traditional Moroccan equestrian exhibition.
These two stamps were printed with a special innovative process allowing, with a smartphone, to listen to audio files : the national anthem and a Fantasia's sequence...
The Moroccan Post was thereby the third country in the world, after China and the Netherlands, to issue this kind of stamp !
In parallel to this issue, a prepaid cover (for a shipment up to 20g to Europe, 10 Dirhams currently), printed in France by Phil@poste, was also issued.
I was lucky enough to receive this envelope above, posted on April 25, 2013 at the post office in Rabat-Technopolis. Thank you very much Meriem :-)
The design of the "Fantasia" stamp was used to the right (without nominal value), while the logo of the Moroccan stamp Centennial is reproduced on this envelope to the left.
Finally, to note that the security element on the left of the stamp has played its role with the mention "counterfeit" (in Arabic and French) that appears after having scanned this document !
