Série EUROPA 2013 de Finlande

EUROPA 2013 stamp set from Finland

A big thank you Liisa for this new item from Finland that will be added to my collection of "EUROPA 2013" covers devoted this year to "Postal vehicles" !
As already mentioned on this blog, many postal administrations have chosen to issue stamps evoking both postal classic cars and more modern means of transport used for the distribution of mail.
These two nice self-adhesive stamps (1st class, i.e. € 0.80 now), designed by Susanna Rumpu and Ari Lakaniemi, were used on this letter mailed on May 6, 2013 (the first day of issue !) from the town of Mikkeli.
To note this other mechanical cancellation applied the same day at the mail sorting center in Kuopio...

The stamp above to the left is devoted to modern postal times with this postwoman delivering mail in a row of mailboxes located in a sparsely populated area. The vehicle of the Finnish Post (Posti) depicted on this stamp is a model Transit Connect by the manufacturer Ford.
The other stamp features a Volvo LV-70 delivery truck, dating from 1933, which operated in the postal circuit connecting the cities of Suolahti, Reisjärvi and Haapalaht.
To note that this vehicle could also carry, in addition to mail, twenty passengers.
This Volvo model is now kept in the Mobilia automobile and road museum located in Kangasala, not far from the city of Tampere.
