Pour célébrer le 100ème anniversaire de la création du zoo de Taipei, la Chunghwa Post a émis, le 16 octobre 2014 (année 103 à Taïwan), un impressionnant feuillet (230 mm x 155 mm) composé de 6 timbres, conçu par Xu Wei.

Fondé en 1914 alors que l'île était sous souveraineté japonaise, ce zoo (le plus ancien du pays et un des plus grands d'Asie (165 hectares)) a été transféré dans le district de Wenshan (sud de Taipei) en 1986.
Le zoo de Taipei, un centre de conservation, de recherche et d'éducation, permet d'observer des animaux de Taiwan, d'Australie, d'Afrique, de la forêt tropicale d'Asie, du désert et des zones tempérées.
Des animaux domestiques, plus de 12000 oiseaux, un insectarium, une maison des amphibiens et reptiles, un habitat des pingouins, des koalas ou des pandas peuvent également être vus.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Taipei Zoo, the Chunghwa Post has issued on October 16, 2014 (the year 103 in Taiwan), an impressive sheet (230 mm x 155 mm) consisting of 6 stamps, designed by Xu Wei.

Established in 1914 when the island was under Japanese sovereignty, this zoo (the oldest in the country and one of Asia's largest (165 ha)) was transferred in Wenshan District (south of Taipei) in 1986.
Taipei Zoo, a center for conservation, research and education, allows people to observe animals from Taiwan, Australia, Africa, tropical Asia forest, desert and temperate zones.
Pets, more than 12,000 birds, an insectarium, an amphibians and reptiles house, some penguin, koala and panda habitats can also be seen.
Le timbre en bas à droite (12 NT$), ainsi que les différents TAD appliqués ici, est consacré à ces pandas géants, avec ici un petit âgé de 4 mois (Yuan Zai, né le 6 juillet 2013) et sa mère Yuan Yuan.
J'avais déjà évoqué ce couple de panda (Yuan Yuan et Tuan Tuan), arrivés dans ce zoo en 2008, fruit de la diplomatie du panda entre la République Populaire de Chine et Taïwan...
A noter que Yuan Zai est le 1er bébé panda à être né à Taïwan.
Les 2 timbres (5 NT$ chacun) du haut représentent 2 espèces endémiques à Taïwan, particulièrement menacées : un capriné appelé saro de Formose et un pangolin de Formose.
Une autre espèce endémique, l'ours noir de Formose (reconnaissable à sa marque blanche en forme de V), la seule espèce d'ours native de l'île, est représentée sur un timbre à 10 NT$.
Les 2 derniers timbres (10 et 12 NT$) sont consacrés à l'éléphant d'Asie et au tigre du Bengale.
Un koala, un orang outan, un gavial de Schlegel, un gorille ainsi que l'entrée principale du zoo (en bas à droite) et son petit train figurent également dans les marges.
The stamp in the bottom right (NT $ 12), as well as the different postmarks applied here, is devoted to giant pandas, with here a four-month-old panda (Yuan Zai, born July 6, 2013) and his mother Yuan Yuan.
I'd already written about this pair of panda (Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan), arrived in the Taipei Zoo in 2008, the result of the "panda diplomacy" between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan...
To note that Yuan Zai is the first panda cub to be born in Taiwan.
The two stamps (NT $ 5 each) at the top feature two species endemic to Taiwan, particularly endangered : a goat called Formosan Serow and a Formosan Pangolin.
Another endemic species, the Formosan black bear (recognizable by its white V-shaped mark), the only species of bear native to the island, is depicted on a NT $ 10 stamp.
The last two stamps (NT $ 10 and 12) are devoted to the Asian elephant and Bengal tiger.
A koala, an orangutan, a false gharial, a gorilla as well as the main zoo entrance (bottom right) and its little train are also included in the margins.
