EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) s/s on cover from Jersey

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2020 (Anciennes routes postales) sur lettre de Jersey

Le 7 avril 2020, la poste de Jersey a mis en circulation une jolie série de 6 timbres ayant pour thème les "bateaux postaux" (Mail ships), désignant les navires des compagnies privées sous contrat transportant le courrier de la poste britannique à l'étranger à partir de la fin du 18ème siècle.
Parmi ces 6 timbres, illustrés par le maître de la gravure Martin Mörck, 2 ont été imprimés (en France par Cartor Security Printing) avec la présence du logo EUROPA, en feuillet de 10 timbres (le cas pour les 6 timbres) mais aussi dans un bloc-feuillet.
Pour rappel, le thème choisi par PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA émis en 2020 était consacré aux anciennes routes postales.
C'est ce très joli bloc-feuillet, avec mentions (y compris le profil de la reine Élisabeth II) imprimées avec une encre spéciale argentée avec effet métallique, qui figure sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 7 décembre 2020. 
On April 7, 2020, Jersey Post put into circulation a nice set of 6 stamps having for theme "Mail ships", designating the ships of private companies under contract carrying mail from the British Post abroad, from the end of the 18th century.
Among these 6 stamps, illustrated by the master of engraving Martin Mörck, 2 were printed (in France by Cartor Security Printing) with the presence of the EUROPA logo, in sheetlet of 10 stamps (the case for the 6 stamps) but also in a souvenir sheet.
As a reminder, the theme chosen by PostEurop for the EUROPA stamps issued in 2020 was devoted to the ancient postal routes.
It is this very pretty souvenir sheet, with mentions (including the profile of Queen Elizabeth II) printed with a special silver ink with metallic effect, which was used on the letter below sent on December 7, 2020.

 

Les premiers navires destinés au transport postal ont desservi l'île de Jersey à partir de 1794, puis une dizaine de bateaux ont assuré cette liaison entre la Grande-Bretagne et les îles anglo-normandes (Guernesey et Aurigny également), comme illustré dans la marge de ce bloc-feuillet (liaison avec les villes côtières anglaises de Southampton et Weymouth).
Parmi ces navires, le "Cygnus" représenté sur le timbre à 0,84£ ci-dessus.
En 1857, une nouvelle compagnie a commencé à fonctionner entre Weymouth et les îles anglo-normandes et la France, la "Weymouth and Channel Islands Steam Packet Company", avec deux navires, le "Cygnus" et "Aquila". Construit en 1854, le "Cygnus", un navire à propulsion mixte (voiles et vapeur), a effectué sa 1ère liaison avec Jersey le 11 avril 1857.
L'autre timbre EUROPA ci-dessus (1,05£) est consacré au bateau à vapeur "Isle of Jersey", construit en 1930, qui opéra entre l'Angleterre et les îles anglo-normandes entre 1931 et 1959, avec un autre navire similaire, le "Isle of Guernsey". Pendant la 2ème guerre mondiale, il servi de navire hôpital puis fut vendu en 1960, rebaptisé "Lydda" et exploité en Libye.

The first ships intended for postal transport served the island of Jersey from 1794, then a dozen boats ensured this connection between Great Britain and the Channel Islands (Guernsey and Alderney also), as illustrated in the margin of this souvenir sheet (link with the English coastal towns of Southampton and Weymouth).

Among these ships, the "Cygnus" pictured on the £ 0.84 stamp above.

In 1857 a new company started to operate between Weymouth and the Channel Islands and France, the "Weymouth and Channel Islands Steam Packet Company", with two ships, the "Cygnus" and "Aquila". Built in 1854, the "Cygnus", a mixed propulsion ship (sails and steam), made its first stop in Jersey on April 11, 1857.

The other EUROPA stamp above (£ 1.05) is dedicated to the steamboat "Isle of Jersey", built in 1930, which operated between England and the Channel Islands between 1931 and 1959, with another similar ship, the "Isle of Guernsey". During World War II, it served as a naval hospital ship and was then sold in 1960, renamed "Lydda" and operated in Libya.
