EUROPA 2019 and EUROPA 2020 stamps on cover from Armenia

Timbres EUROPA 2019 et EUROPA 2020 sur lettre d'Arménie

Merci beaucoup Aram pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 8 janvier 2021 depuis Vanadzor, la 3ème ville d'Arménie (après Erevan et Gyumri), affranchie avec les timbres EUROPA émis respectivement le 21 mai 2019 (oiseaux nationaux) et le 3 juillet 2020 (anciennes routes postales) !
A noter que ces 2 timbres (350 drams, tirage : 30000 chacun) ont été imprimés en France par Cartor Security Printing, en feuillet de 10 timbres.
Une hirondelle rustique (Hirundo rustica) est représentée sur le timbre EUROPA 2019, conçu par Ashkhen (Mila) Khandzratsyan, avec un environnement typique de la flore arménienne dans le fond, un ensemble inspiré des miniatures arméniennes. 
Environ 380 espèces d'oiseaux ont été recensées en Arménie et l'aigle (présent sur les armoiries du pays, avec un lion) est traditionnellement considéré comme l'oiseau national.
Thank you very much Aram for this nice letter sent on January 8, 2021 from Vanadzor, the 3rd city of Armenia (after Yerevan and Gyumri), franked with the EUROPA stamps issued respectively on May 21, 2019 (national birds) and July 3, 2020 (ancient postal routes)!
To note that these 2 stamps (350 drams, print run: 30,000 each) were both printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, in sheetlet of 10 stamps.
A barn swallow (Hirundo rustica) is pictured on the EUROPA 2019 stamp, designed by Ashkhen (Mila) Khandzratsyan, with an environment typical of Armenian flora in the background, an ensemble inspired by Armenian miniatures.
Around 380 bird species have been recorded in Armenia and the eagle (present on the country's coat of arms, along with a lion) is traditionally considered the national bird.

 

Cet oiseau est également représenté sur la série EUROPA émise en 2019 par la poste estonienne.
Ce très joli timbre arménien a été désigné plus beau timbre EUROPA en 2019 suite au concours (vote du public) organisé par PostEurop.
L'autre timbre, conçu par David Dovlatyan, très joli également, montre une vue de la vieille ville de Gyumri, qui était le premier centre culturel et politique de l'Arménie au 19ème siècle et une étape importante sur de nombreuses routes à travers le pays, économiques ou postales.
Ce timbre représente en particulier un partie de la place de la Liberté avec l'église du Saint-Sauveur (construite entre 1858 et 1876), fortement endommagée par le tremblement de terre de 1988.
Le développement de cette ville débute au 19ème siècle lorsqu'elle passe sous contrôle russe (elle fut renommée Alexandropol par le tsar Nicolas Ier) et fut alors considérée comme le 3ème centre commercial et culturel du Caucase, après Tbilissi et Bakou.
This bird is also depicted on the EUROPA series issued in 2019 by the Estonian Post.
This very nice Armenian stamp was designated the best EUROPA stamp in 2019 following the contest (public vote) organized by PostEurop.
The other stamp, designed by David Dovlatyan, also very pretty, shows a view of the old town of Gyumri, which was the first cultural and political center of Armenia in the 19th century and a milestone on many roads through the countries, economic or postal.
This stamp features in particular a part of the Vartanants Square with the Church of the Holy Saviour (built between 1858 and 1876), heavily damaged by the earthquake of 1988.
The development of this city began in the 19th century when it came under Russian control (it was renamed Alexandropol by Tsar Nicholas I) and was then considered the 3rd commercial and cultural center of the Caucasus, after Tbilisi and Baku.
