EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on cover from Guernsey

Série EUROPA 2020 (Anciennes routes postales) sur lettre de Guernesey

Le 1er avril 2020, la poste de Guernesey a mis en circulation une jolie série de 6 timbres ayant pour thème les "bateaux postaux" ("Mail ships"), un thème également retenu par la poste voisine de Jersey, désignant les navires des compagnies privées sous contrat transportant le courrier de la poste britannique à l'étranger à partir de la fin du 18ème siècle.
Parmi ces 6 timbres, illustrés par Andrew Robinson, 2 ont été imprimés (en France par Cartor Security Printing) avec la présence du logo EUROPA, en feuillet de 10 timbres (le cas pour les 6 timbres).
Pour rappel, le thème choisi par PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA émis en 2020 était consacré aux anciennes routes postales.
Les 2 timbres incluant ce logo EUROPA ont été utilisés sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 3 décembre 2020. 
On April 1, 2020, the Guernsey Post put into circulation a nice series of 6 stamps having for theme "Mail ships", a topic also chosen by the neighboring Jersey Post, designating the ships of private companies under contract carrying mail from the British Post abroad, from the end of the 18th century. 
Among these 6 stamps, illustrated by Andrew Robinson, 2 were printed (in France by Cartor Security Printing) with the presence of the EUROPA logo, in sheetlet of 10 stamps (the case for the 6 stamps).
As a reminder, the theme chosen by PostEurop for the EUROPA stamps issued in 2020 was devoted to ancient postal routes.
The two stamps including this EUROPA logo were used on the cover below sent on December 3, 2020. 

 

Les premiers navires destinés au transport postal ont desservi l'île de Guernesey à partir de 1794, puis une dizaine de bateaux ont assuré cette liaison entre la Grande-Bretagne (depuis les villes de Southampton et Weymouth) et les îles anglo-normandes (Jersey et Aurigny également).
Parmi ces bateaux, le "Ariadne" représenté sur le timbre à 0,68£ ci-dessus, un navire à propulsion mixte (voiles et vapeur) commandé par un capitaine (J. Bazin) originaire de Guernesey, ayant effectué sa 1ère liaison vers les îles anglo-normandes en 1824. Ce navire sera démantelé en 1852. 
L'autre timbre EUROPA ci-dessus (0,85£) est consacré au bateau à vapeur "Alberta", construit en 1900 pour remplacer le "Stella", dont le voyage inaugural entre Southampton et Jersey eut lieu le 2 juin 1900.
Réputé comme un navire rapide à l'époque, il fut retiré du service en 1929 et vendu à une entreprise grecque en 1930 après avoir parcouru 75000 milles et transporté 700000 passagers.

The first ships intended for postal transport served the island of Guernsey from 1794, then a dozen boats ensured this connection between Great Britain (from the towns of Southampton and Weymouth) and the Channel Islands (Jersey and Alderney also). 

Among these boats, the "Ariadne" featured on the £ 0.68 stamp, a mixed propulsion vessel (sails and steam) commanded by a captain (J. Bazin) from Guernsey, having made its first connection to the Channel Islands in 1824. This ship was dismantled in 1852.

The other EUROPA stamp above (£ 0.85) is dedicated to the steamboat "Alberta", built in 1900 to replace the "Stella", whose maiden voyage between Southampton and Jersey took place on June 2, 1900.

Renowned as a fast vessel at the time, is was withdrawn from service in 1929 and sold to a Greek company in 1930 after completing 75,000 miles and carrying 700,000 passengers.
