Timbres "100 ans des 24 Heures du Mans" (collector) sur FDCs de France
Les 24 Heures du Mans 2023 sont la 91ème édition des 24 Heures du Mans, s'étant déroulées les 10 et 11 juin 2023, sur le circuit
des 24 Heures, un circuit routier du sud de la ville du Mans (longueur
actuelle : 13,626 km). Il s'agit de la 4ème épreuve du championnat du
monde d'endurance FIA 2023.
Cette édition marque les 100 ans de la
création de l'épreuve des 24 Heures du Mans. La première édition a en
effet eu lieu les 26 et 27 mai 1923, remportée par André Lagache et René
Léonard sur une Chenard & Walcker.
Cette épreuve est la plus
ancienne et la plus prestigieuse des courses d'endurance pour automobile
de sport et sport-prototype et fait partie à ce titre de la triple
couronne du sport automobile, avec le Grand Prix de Monaco en Formule 1
et les 500 miles d'Indianapolis en Indy Car (seul le pilote britannique
Graham Hill a remporté ces 3 courses).
The 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans is the 91st edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans,
that took place on June 10 and 11, 2023, on the 24 Hours
circuit, a road circuit in the south of the city of Le Mans (current
length: 13.626km). This is the 4th round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance
Championship.
This edition marks the 100th anniversary of the
creation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans event. The first edition took place
on May 26 and 27, 1923, won by André Lagache and René Léonard in a
Chenard & Walcker car.
This event is the oldest and most
prestigious endurance race for sports cars and sports prototypes and as
such is part of the triple crown of motorsport, with the Monaco Grand
Prix in Formula 1 and the 500 miles of Indianapolis in Indy Car (only
the British driver Graham Hill won these 3 races).
Le 26 mai 2023 (vente Premier Jour), la poste française a mis en circulation un bloc-feuillet (4 timbres, programme officiel) ainsi que 2 collectors (4 timbres et 8 timbres chacun) consacrés au centenaire des 24 Heures du Mans.
2 timbres extraits du collector de 4 timbres (tarif International - prix de vente : 9,50€, tirage : 50000, vente générale : 12 juin 2023), conçu par Bruno Ghiringhelli, ont été utilisés sur ces 2 lettres avec TAD Premier Jour du Mans (72 - Sarthe). Merci beaucoup Stéphane !
Le 1er timbre ci-dessus reproduit l'affiche de la 1ère édition de cette compétition automobile en 1923 (peintre : H.A. Volodimer), avec mention "Grand Prix d'Endurance de 24 heures - Coupe Rudge-Whitworth", "Rudge-Whitworth" étant le nom d'une firme de roues détachables et le 1er sponsor des 24 Heures du Mans.
Un aspect typique de l'épreuve est illustré sur cette affiche, une voiture roulant la nuit, avec la présence de la pluie à droite et d'un hibou sur un arbre (les phares des voitures devaient permettre de voir aussi bien que ce rapace...).
On May 26, 2023 (First Day of issue), the French Post put into circulation a souvenir sheet (4 stamps, official program) as well as two "collectors" (4 stamps and 8 stamps each) devoted to the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Two stamps extracted from the collector of 4 stamps (International rate - sale price: €9.50, print run: 50,000, general sale: June 12, 2023), designed by Bruno Ghiringhelli, have been used on these two covers with First Day postmarks from Le Mans (72 - Sarthe). Thank you very much Stéphane!
The first stamp above reproduces the poster of the first edition of this car competition in 1923 (painter: H.A. Volodimer), with mention "Grand Prix d'Endurance de 24 heures - Coupe Rudge-Whitworth", "Rudge-Whitworth" being the name of a detachable wheel firm and the first sponsor of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A typical aspect of the event is illustrated on this poster, a car driving at night, with the presence of the rain on the right and an owl on a tree (the headlights of the cars were to make it possible to see as well as this raptor...).
Le 2ème timbre ci-dessus reproduit l'affiche de l'édition 2023 des 24 Heures du Mans, conçue par Orlane Touchard, responsable Studio Graphique de l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest qui organise cette compétition.
Les 6 grands constructeurs engagés en hypercar sont représentés sur cette affiche, avec des voitures roulant de nuit, sur fond de feux d'artifice.
Une chouette est présente sur la branche d'un arbre à droite, clin d'œil à l'affiche de 1923.
