Série EUROPA 2024 (Faune et flore subaquatiques) sur lettre du Kosovo
Depuis 2006 (le pays n'avait pas encore déclaré son indépendance et
était sous administration de la Mission d'administration intérimaire des
Nations unies au Kosovo), des timbres ayant le même thème que les
séries EUROPA officielles sont mis en circulation chaque année par la
poste du Kosovo (Posta e Kosovës).
De façon variable, ces timbres mentionnent (ou pas) le libellé de ce
thème ou la mention EUROPA (ou EVROPA), sans toutefois inclure le logo EUROPA officiel, le
Kosovo n'étant pas membre de l'association PostEurop qui gére ces émissions EUROPA.
Le 9 mai 2024 (Journée de l'Europe), 2 timbres et 1 bloc-feuillet ont été
émis, consacrés au thème EUROPA 2024, la faune et flore subaquatiques ("fauna dhe flora nënujore" en albanais).
Le bloc-feuillet numéroté (tirage : 4000) ainsi que les 2 timbres
de cette série (tirage : 4500 chacun) figurent
sur la jolie
lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé le 27 mai 2024 depuis la ville de Pejë, située dans le nord-ouest du

Since 2006 (the country had not yet declared its independence and was under the administration of the United
Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo), stamps with the same
theme as the official EUROPA series are put into circulation every year
by the Post of Kosovo (Posta e Kosovës).
Variably, these stamps
mention (or not) the wording of that theme or the mention EUROPA (or EVROPA),
without including however the official EUROPA logo, Kosovo being not a member of
the PostEurop association, managing
these EUROPA stamps.
On May 9, 2024 (Europe Day), two stamps and one souvenir sheet were issued, dedicated to the EUROPA 2024 theme, underwater fauna and flora ("fauna dhe flora nënujore" in Albanian).
The numbered souvenir sheet (print run: 4,000) as well as the two stamps of this series (print run: 4,500 each) have been used on the pretty cover below sent by registered mail on May 27, 2024 from the town of Pejë, located in the north west of the country. Thank you very much Sabri!

La République du Kosovo possède une flore diversifiée et se distingue par la faune la plus riche de la péninsule balkanique. Parmi les trésors de cette biodiversité figurent de nombreuses espèces de poissons d'eau douce, illustrées sur cette série.
Le bloc-feuillet (2€) représente un poisson de la famille des carpes, un type de poisson assez répandu dans le monde, originaire
d'Asie. Il est commun dans les eaux douces des rivières et au Kosovo, en particulier Drini e Bardhë, Sitnica, Drenica, Morava...
Le timbre à 1€ est consacré au goujon d'Ohrid (Gobio ohridanus) et au goujon de Shkodra (Gobio scadarensis), deux poissons au statut "vulnérable", endémiques des lacs d'Ohrid (Macédoine du Nord et Albanie) et Shkodra (Monténégro et Albanie).
Le timbre à 2,10€ représente un carassin argenté ou carpe prussienne (Carassius gibelio), une espèce qui appartient à la famille des Cyprinidae, qui comprend la carpe et de nombreux autres types de poissons. C'est un habitant des lacs et des cours inférieurs des rivières.
La carpe prussienne est une espèce de poisson très envahissante dans les zones situées en dehors de son aire de répartition d'origine.

The Republic of Kosovo has a diverse flora and is distinguished by the richest fauna on the Balkan Peninsula. Among the treasures of this biodiversity are numerous species of freshwater fish, illustrated in this series.
The souvenir sheet (€2.00) represents a fish from the carp family, a type of fish quite widespread throughout the world, originating from Asia. It is common in fresh waters of rivers and in Kosovo, especially Drini e Bardhë, Sitnica, Drenica, Morava rivers...
The €1.00 stamp is dedicated to the Ohrid gudgeon (Gobio ohridanus) and the Shkodra gudgeon (Gobio scadarensis), two fish with "vulnerable" status, endemic to Lakes Ohrid (North Macedonia and Albania) and Shkodra (Montenegro and Albania).
The €2.10 stamp depicts a Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio), a species that belongs to the family Cyprinidae, which includes carp and many other types of fish. It is an inhabitant of lakes and lower reaches of rivers.
Prussian carps are a highly invasive fish species in areas outside their native range.
