Le sultanat de Brunei Darussalam a déclaré l'année 2001 "Visit Brunei Year", une occasion de faire découvrir ce petit pays situé sur l'île de Bornéo (enclavé dans la Malaisie).
Vu d'Europe, cet état est en effet plus connu grâce à son richissime sultan que pour ses paysages ou son patrimoine...
Un slogan "Un royaume aux trésors inattendus" était associé à cette campagne de promotion. La poste de Brunei a participé à cette promotion en émettant, le 14 mars 2001, une série de 3 timbres consacrés à cette campagne touristique.
The sultanate of Brunei Darussalam has declared 2001 as "Visit Brunei Year", an opportunity to discover this small country located on the island of Borneo (landlocked in Malaysia).
Seen from Europe, this state is indeed best known for its wealthy sultan than for its landscapes and its heritage...
A slogan "A Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures" was associated with that campaign. The Post of Brunei took part in this promotion by issuing, on March 14, 2001, a series of three stamps devoted to this tourism campaign.

Aucune mention de ville ne figure sur cette oblitération mécanique, seulement Brunei Darussalam ("Brunei, Asile de paix"), le nom officiel du sultanat...
Ces 3 timbres évoquent différents aspects touristiques du pays associés à l'écotourisme (70% du pays est constitué de forêts tropicales), au patrimoine culturel et à la monarchie.
Le timbre à 30 sen montre une vue de Kampong Ayer ou "village de l'eau", un ensemble de maisons construites sur pilotis au milieu de la rivière Brunei dans la capitale, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Le timbre à 60 sen évoque le riche patrimoine culturel et royal associé au sultan avec en particulier le "Royal Regalia Museum" où les touristes peuvent, entre autres, admirer le char en or du sultan Hassanal Bolkiah utilisé lors de son couronnement en 1967.

The 30 sen stamp shows a view of Kampong Ayer or "water village", a group of stilt houses built in the middle of the Brunei River in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The 60 sen stamp evokes the rich cultural and royal heritage associated with in particular the "Royal Regalia Museum", where visitors can, among other things, admire the gold chariot of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah used for his coronation in 1967.
