Le 6 mai 2010, la poste espagnole a émis un bloc-feuillet très original consacré au 1100ème anniversaire de la fondation du royaume de León.
C'est ce bloc numéroté (n°96384 sur 300000) qui figure sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous (sans aucune oblitération...). Merci beaucoup Luis :-)
A noter la forme très originale du timbre inclus dans ce bloc, évoquant la bannière du royaume de León avec ce lion doré imprimé en léger relief. Ce même lion apparaît également en micro-perforations en haut de la bande violette à gauche !
On May 6, 2010, the Spanish Post has issued a very original souvenir sheet devoted to the 1100th anniversary of the foundation of the Kingdom of León.
This numbered (No. 96,384 of 300,000) sheet appears on the beautiful letter below (without any cancellation...). Thank you very much Luis :-)
To note the highly original shape of the stamp included in this sheet, referring to the banner of the crown of León with a passant golden embossed lion. That same lion is also included in micro-perforations at the top of the purple band to the left !
Le fond du bloc reproduit une carte de la péninsule ibérique datant de 910 sur laquelle figure en haut à gauche le territoire occupé à l'époque par ce royaume de León.Ce royaume de León a donc été fondé en 910 lorsque, à la mort d'Alphonse III le Grand, le royaume des Asturies fut partagé entre ses 3 fils. C'est son fils aîné García I qui fut ainsi le 1er roi de ce territoire. Le León fut définitivement rattaché au royaume de Castille en 1230.
Luis a ajouté un 2ème timbre (avec double faciale euros/pesetas), émis le 15 octobre 2001 dans le cadre de la série UPAEP dont le thème était cette année les sites du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
La réserve marine naturelle de Las Salinas, située entre les îles d'Ibiza et de Formentera, est évoquée sur ce timbre avec en particulier ces prairies denses de posidonies, des herbes des fonds marins, une espèce endémique au bassin méditerranéen. Cet écosystème unique est inscrit au patrimoine de l'humanité depuis 1999.
The background of the sheet reproduces a map of the Iberian Peninsula dating from 910 on which is mentioned, at the top left, the territory at the time occupied by the Kingdom of León.
This Kingdom of León was therefore founded in 910 when, after the death of Alfonso III the Great, the Kingdom of Asturias was divided among his three children. García I, his eldest son, was the first king of this territory. León was finally joined to the Kingdom of Castile in 1230.
Luis has used a 2nd stamp (with a double Euros/Pesetas nominal value), issued on October 15, 2001 as part of the UPAEP series whose theme this year was UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The marine nature reserve of Las Salinas, located between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera is featured on the stamp with in particular the dense prairies of oceanic Posidonia (seagrass), an endemic species to the Mediterranean basin. This unique ecosystem is a World Heritage site since 1999.
