100 years of the "Legia Warszawa" football club in Poland

In April 1916, soldiers of the Polish Legions created a football team, under the initiative of Stanisław Mielech (1894-1962), then called "Druzyna Legjonowa" ("Legion's team"), based in Warsaw from Autumn 1916.
On April 29, 1917, this team which was renamed "Legia Warszawa" (still used today), played its first official match against its rival of Polonia Warszawa.
From April 1927, Legia Warszawa played its first official match in the Polish league (defeat 4-1 against the Warszawianka Warszawa).
