Après une série (4 timbres) émise en 2016, la poste taïwanaise (Chunghwa Post Co.) a mis en circulation, le 7 août 2019, une nouvelle série "Architecture" (4 timbres) consacrée à différentes églises du pays.
Le développement du christianisme sur l'île est lié à l'arrivée des premiers missionnaires hollandais et espagnols à partir du 17ème siècle.
Persécutés à plusieurs reprises, les chrétiens ou protestants représentent aujourd'hui environ 4% de la population de Taïwan, la majorité étant bouddhiste ou taoïste.

A noter ce cachet touristique violet en haut à gauche, représentant l'église baptiste Grace, située dans le district de Da’an à Taipei, également présente sur le timbre en haut à droite (12 NT$).
Cet édifice a été reconstruit dans un style traditionnel chinois, évoquant un chapeau d'érudit confucéen recouvrant solennellement la planète Terre...
L'autre timbre à 12 NT$ est consacré à l'église de la sainteté de Tainan, située dans le district de Anping, conçue par le pasteur Kao Chin-Yuan dans un style très moderne, avec cet arc-en-ciel et la devise "Dieu est Amour" devant l'édifice.
L'église Mémorial Thài-Pêng-Kéng Maxwell (8 NT$), en haut à gauche, est située dans le quartier ouest central de Tainan (sud-ouest de l'île), construite à la mémoire du Dr James L. Maxwell (1836-1921), un missionnaire britannique presbytérien.
L'autre timbre à 8 NT$ est consacré à l'église Tamsui, située à Tamsui (ville de New Taipei), érigée par le Dr George MacKay, aujourd'hui un monument ancien classé à la municipalité.
Cette église été reconstruite dans un style gothique et est un des rares édifices à Taïwan construit avec des briques rouges.

The other NT $ 12 stamp is dedicated to the Tainan Holiness Church, located in Anping District, designed by Pastor Kao Chin-Yuan in a very modern style, with this rainbow and the motto "God is Love" in front of the building.
The Thài-Pêng-Kéng Maxwell Memorial Church (NT $ 8), on the top left, is located in the west central district of Tainan (southwest of the island), built in memory of Dr. James L. Maxwell (1836-1921), a British Presbyterian missionary.
The other NT $ 8 stamp is dedicated to Tamsui Church, located in Tamsui (New Taipei City), erected by Dr. George MacKay, today a municipally classified ancient monument.
This church was rebuilt in Gothic style and is one of the few buildings in Taiwan built with red bricks.
