La 6ème édition de l'exposition philatélique ("Briefmarken-Messe") organisée à Berlin a au lieu les 11 et 12 octobre 2014.
A cette occasion, plusieurs documents philatéliques spéciaux ont été émis dont cet enveloppe illustrée pré-timbrée ci-dessous consacrée au peintre, dessinateur et sculpteur allemand Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764-1850).

The 6th edition of the Philatelic Exhibition ("Briefmarken-Messe") held in Berlin took place on 11 and 12 October 2014.
On this occasion, several special philatelic documents were issued including this prepaid illustrated envelope below devoted to the German painter and sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764-1850).
Thank you very much Olivier for this cover with a special cancellation of October 11, 2014 referring to the 250th anniversary of his birth (in Berlin) and including Schadow's self-portrait :-)
Cette enveloppe a été conçue à partir du timbre (0,60€) émis le 8 mai 2014 par la Deutsche Post en l'honneur de Johann Gottfried Schadow, dont l'oeuvre la plus célèbre, le quadrige située au sommet de la Porte de Brandebourg (1794), figure sur l'illustration à gauche.
Schadow est un des sculpteurs les plus marquants du néoclassicisme à la cour de Prusse, à travers de très nombreuses oeuvres monumentales mais a également réalisé plus de 2000 oeuvres graphiques, comme ce portrait représentant 2 soeurs de la bourgeoisie berlinoise (peint en 1804), conservée à l'académie des arts de Berlin, reproduit sur ce timbre.
A noter la marque "FD" ("Fausse Direction") apposée en France sur cette enveloppe, indiquant qu'une erreur s'est produite dans le tri postal...
This envelope was designed from the stamp (€ 0.60) issued on May 8, 2014 by the Deutsche Post in honor of Johann Gottfried Schadow, whose most famous work, the Quadriga at the top of the Brandenburger Tor (1794), is shown on the illustration on the left.
Schadow was one of the most important neoclassicist sculptors at the Prussian court, through numerous monumental works but has also made more than 2,000 graphic works, such as this portrait of two sisters of the Berlin bourgeoisie (painted in 1804), kept at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, reproduced on that stamp.
To note the mark "FD" ("Fausse Direction" in French) affixed in France on this envelope, indicating that an error occurred in the postal sorting...
En plus de la Deutsche Post, les administrations postales de la Cité du Vatican, des Nations Unies (bureau de Vienne) et de la République Tchèque étaient présentes lors de cette exposition philatélique.
Pour cette occasion, et comme elle le fait depuis quelques années (uniquement pour des manifestations en Allemagne a priori...), la poste tchèque a mis en circulation l'entier postal spécial ci-dessus (tarif "E" pour envoi en Europe) que j'ai eu la chance de recevoir avec une oblitération du 11 octobre 2014 de Prague. Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
Cette carte, comportant la mention "PostFila Prag" (la branche "Philatélie" de la poste tchèque), inclut une illustration à gauche évoquant la carte du monde "Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis" réalisée en 1680 par le graveur hollandais Justus Danckerts. Quel rapport avec cette expo philatélique à Berlin ?
In addition to the Deutsche Post, the postal administrations of the Vatican City, the United Nations (Vienna office) and Czech Republic were present at this philatelic exhibition.
For this occasion, and as it is the case for a few years (only for events held in Germany a priori...), the Czech Post released the special postal stationery above (rate "E" for a shipment to Europe) that I was lucky to receive with a postmark of October 11, 2014 from Prague. Thank you very much Bret :-)
This card, with the words "PostFila Prag" (the Czech Post "Philately" special department) is featuring to the left an illustration evoking the world map "Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis" dating from 1680, made by the Dutch engraver Justus Danckerts. Any link with this stamp exhibition in Berlin ?
