Tribute to defender of rights and democracy Fritz Bauer on FDC from Germany

On November 2, 2019, the Deutsche Post put into circulation a stamp (€ 2.70), printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps as usual, dedicated to the lawyer and attorney general Fritz Bauer (1903-1968), considered in Germany as one of the fathers of democratization of the country after the 2nd World War.
This stamp, designed by Detlef Behr from a photograph by Stefan Moses featuring Fritz Bauer in his office in Frankfurt am Main in 1965, is present on the First Day cover below, with cancellations from Berlin (Fritz Bauer's signature). Thank you very much Jens!
This stamp also includes a quote from Bauer, "Nichts gehört der Vergangenheit an, alles ist noch Gegenwart und kann wieder Zukunft werden" ("Nothing belongs to the past, everything is still present and can become the future again").

Fritz Bauer's work has contributed to the development of a democratic justice system in Germany, the condemnation of Nazi injustices and the reform of criminal law.
Fritz Bauer was in particular the initiator of the so-called "Auschwitz" trials in Frankfurt am Main, charging 22 defendants under German criminal law for their roles in the Holocaust.
This trial was made up of a series of judgments rendered by West German justice between 1963 and 1965, concerning the role of these 22 defendants.
A social democrat and a Jew, Fritz Bauer had known persecution under the National Socialism of the Nazi regime and fought tirelessly for law and democracy.
