Hommage au Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) sur FDC de Curaçao
Hors Inde, une centaine d'administrations postales ont mis en
circulation en 2019 des
timbres consacrés au 150ème anniversaire de la naissance du Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), un record !
Le 19 novembre 2019, l'administration postale de Curaçao (Cpost International), île des
petites Antilles située au large du Vénézuela, un État autonome au sein
du Royaume des Pays-Bas depuis 2010, a mis en circulation un
bloc-feuillet consacré à Gandhi.
Ce bloc-feuillet (1500c), conçu par Chico Overkempe, représentant un portrait de Gandhi ainsi qu'une de ses nombreuses citations ("Soyez le changement que vous voulez voir dans le monde" en anglais ici) avec les couleurs du drapeau indien dans le fond, figure sur le pli Premier Jour ci-dessous.
A noter ce cachet additionnel (sans mention de lieu ni date) avec mention "Curaçao", incluant le drapeau et une carte de l'île.

On November 19, 2019, the postal administration of Curaçao (Cpost International), an island in the Lesser Antilles off
the coast of Venezuela, a constituent country within the Kingdom of the
Netherlands since 2010, put into circulation a souvenir sheet dedicated to Gandhi.
This souvenir sheet (1500c), designed by Chico Overkempe, featuring a portrait of Gandhi as well as one of his many quotes ("Be the change that you wish to see in the world" in English here) with the colors of the Indian flag in the background, is present on the First Day cover below.
To note this additional cachet (without indication of place or date) with the mention "Curaçao", including the flag and a map of the island.
Le Mahatma Gandhi ("Mahatma" signifiant "la grande âme"), né en 1869 à Pordanbar (état du Gujarat), surnommé le
"Père de la Nation" en Inde, fut un des pionniers du mouvement
d'indépendance du pays,
prônant
la désobéissance, la non-violence et le concept du "swaraj"
(autodétermination).
Il est assassiné en 1948 par un fanatique hindou. Gandhi a inspiré de
nombreux mouvements de libération et de défense des droits civiques dans
le monde.
Mahatma Gandhi ("Mahatma" meaning
"venerable"), born in 1869 in Pordanbar (state of Gujarat), nicknamed
the "Father of the Nation" in
India, was one of the pioneers of the country's independence movement,
advocating disobedience, non-violence and the concept of "swaraj"
(self-determination).
He was assassinated in 1948 by a Hindu
fanatic. Gandhi was the inspiration for many freedom and civil rights
movements around the world.
