"Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520)" stamp on FDC from Moldova

Timbre "Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520)" sur FDC de Moldavie

Plusieurs administrations postales (France, Vatican, Italie, Saint-Marin, SMOM, Liechtenstein, Macédoine du Nord, Bulgarie...) ont mis en circulation des timbres en 2020 consacrés au 500ème anniversaire de la mort du célèbre peintre et architecte italien de la Renaissance, Raffaello Sanzio ou Raphaël (1483-1520).
Le 13 octobre 2020, la poste moldave a mis en circulation la 2ème partie d'une série intitulée "Personnalités qui ont changé l'histoire du monde" ("Personalități care au schimbat istoria lumii"), consacrée à Mère Teresa (110ème anniversaire de la naissance), Raphaël (500ème anniversaire de la mort), Ludwig van Beethoven (250ème anniversaire de la naissance) et Florence Nightingale (200ème anniversaire de la naissance).
Comme en 2019, ces 4 timbres, conçus par Vladimir Melnic, ont été imprimés chacun dans un feuillet composé de 8 timbres + 1 vignette.

Several postal administrations (France, Vatican, Italy, San Marino, SMOM, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Bulgaria ...) put into circulation stamps in 2020 dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the death of the famous Italian painter and architect of the Renaissance, Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520).
On October 13, 2020, the Post of Moldova released the second part of a series entitled "Personalities who changed world history" ("Personalități care au schimbat istoria lumii"), devoted to Mother Teresa (110th anniversary of the birth), Raffaello Sanzio (500th anniversary of the death), Ludwig van Beethoven (250th anniversary of the birth) and Florence Nightingale (200th anniversary of the birth).
As in 2019, these 4 stamps, designed by Vladimir Melnic, were each printed in a sheetlet consisting of 8 stamps + 1 label.
Thank you very much Nicolae for sending this official FDC (print run: 300) regarding the stamp dedicated to Raffaello Sanzio (1.75 L, print run: 12,000), with its associated postmark from Chișinău (MD-2012)!  

 

Considéré de son vivant comme un être quasi divin, Raffaello Sanzio incarne la perfection classique de l'art de la Renaissance et une référence majeure de la peinture occidentale.
En 1504, il réalisait son premier chef-d'œuvre, "Le Mariage de la Vierge" puis un séjour à Florence lui permit de s'initier à l'art de ses illustres aînés comme Léonard de Vinci et Michel-Ange.
Établi à Rome en 1508, il reçut la prestigieuse commande du décor de fresques des appartements du pape Jules II au Vatican et fut par la suite nommé architecte de la nouvelle basilique Saint-Pierre.
Le timbre moldave reproduit un autoportrait de Raffaello Sanzio datant de 1506 (Galerie des Offices à Florence), le fond de l'enveloppe montrant une partie d'un dessin (vers 1510, Musée Albertina à Vienne) intitulé "Le mariage d'Alexandre et Roxane".  

Un autre portrait de Raffaello Sanzio figure à gauche sur cette enveloppe, inspiré par l'œuvre "Autoportrait avec un ami" (vers 1518, Musée du Louvre à Paris). 

Considered during his lifetime as an almost divine being, Raffaello Sanzio embodies the classical perfection of Renaissance art and a major reference in Western painting.

In 1504, he produced his first masterpiece, "The Marriage of the Virgin", then a stay in Florence allowed him to learn art from his illustrious elders such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.

Established in Rome in 1508, he received the prestigious commission to decorate the frescoes of the apartments of Pope Julius II in the Vatican and was subsequently appointed architect of the new St. Peter's Basilica.

The Moldovan stamp reproduces a self-portrait of Raffaello Sanzio dating from 1506 (Uffizi Gallery in Florence), the background of the envelope showing part of a drawing (circa 1510, Albertina Museum in Vienna) entitled "Wedding of Alexander and Roxana".

Another portrait of Raffaello Sanzio is featured on the left on this envelope, inspired by the work "Self-portrait with a friend" (around 1518, Louvre Museum in Paris).

 

Nicolae a complété son affranchissement, pour atteindre le tarif en vigueur pour un envoi prioritaire de moins de 20g vers la France (11 L actuellement) avec 4 autres timbres au verso de cette enveloppe ci-dessus. 
Ces 4 timbres identiques (2,50 roubles puis 2,50 L à partir du 1er février 2006) font partie d'une série de 4 timbres émise le 20 juillet 1992, représentant un même motif d'avion supersonique, avec des couleurs différentes.

These 4 identical stamps (2.50 rubles then 2.50 L from February 1, 2006) are part of a series of 4 stamps issued on July 20, 1992, representing the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.  

 

 

Pour chacun des 4 timbres de cette série, une carte-maximum (tirage : 300, conception : Vladimir Melnic) a également été mise en circulation, comme l'exemple ci-dessus concernant ce timbre "Raffaello Sanzio".
Cette carte reproduit une autre peinture de Raffaello Sanzio intitulée "Portrait d'Agnolo Doni" (vers 1506, Galerie des Offices à Florence).

This card reproduces another painting by Raffaello Sanzio entitled "Portrait of Agnolo Doni" (c. 1506, Uffizi Gallery in Florence).
