"Olympic Games Paris 2024" stamps on cover from Lithuania

Timbres "Jeux olympiques Paris 2024" sur lettre de Lituanie

Le 26 juillet 2024, la poste lituanienne a mis en circulation un timbre unique consacré aux jeux olympiques de Paris 2024 (33ème olympiade) organisés du 26 juillet au 11 août 2024.
A Paris, la délégation de la Lituanie (51 athlètes engagés dans 13 sports) participait pour la 9ème fois aux jeux olympiques d'été (depuis sa 2ème indépendance en 1990).
Conçu par Tomas Dragūnas, ce timbre (1,55€, tirage : 25000) a été utilisé en 2 exemplaires sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé le 2 août 2024 depuis la ville de Pasvalys (nord du pays). Merci beaucoup Sigitas ! 
Ce timbre est consacré à l'une des nouvelles disciplines sportives au programme de ces jeux olympiques de Paris 2024, le breakdance, alliant sport et danse urbaine, avec la silhouette de la Tour Eiffel dans le fond et les couleurs des 5 anneaux olympiques. 
A noter que ni la mention "Paris 2024" ni l'emblème du comité olympique lituanien ne figurent sur ce timbre...
On July 26, 2024, the Lithuanian Post put into circulation a unique stamp dedicated to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (33rd Olympiad) organized from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
In Paris, the Lithuanian delegation (51 athletes engaged in 13 sports) participated for the 9th time in the Summer Olympic Games (since its 2nd independence in 1990).
Designed by Tomas Dragūnas, this stamp (€1.55, print run: 25,000) was used in two copies on the cover below sent by registered mail on August 2, 2024 from the city of Pasvalys (north of the country). Thank you very much Sigitas!
This stamp is dedicated to one of the new sports disciplines on the program of these Paris 2024 Olympic Games, breakdancing, combining sport and urban dance, with the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower in the background and the colors of the 5 Olympic rings.
To note that neither the mention "Paris 2024" nor the emblem of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee appear on this stamp...

Les 9 et 10 août 2024, 16 B-Boys et 16 B-Girls se sont affrontés en un contre un sur la place de la Concorde, dans des prestations effectuées en alternance, durant chacune 60 secondes.
La poste lituanienne a choisi ce sport car il représentait une des grandes chances de médaille pour le pays, avec le B-Girl Nicka (Dominika Banevič), finalement battue en finale par la japonaise Ami Yuasa.
En plus de cette médaille d'argent, la délégation lituanienne a remporté 3 autres médailles (1 argent, 2 bronze) à Paris, en athlétisme, aviron et basketball masculin (3èmes jeux olympiques de suite sans aucune médaille d'or).
Petit rappel historique : la Lituanie avait déjà participé aux jeux olympiques en 1924 et 1928 (après la 1ère indépendance du pays) puis sous les couleurs de l'URSS entre 1952 et 1988 et enfin à nouveau sous les couleurs lituaniennes depuis 1992. 
On August 9 and 10, 2024, 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls competed one-on-one on Place de la Concorde, in alternating performances, each lasting 60 seconds.
The Lithuanian Post chose this sport because it represented one of the country's great chances of a medal, with B-Girl Nicka (Dominika Banevič), finally defeated in the final by Japanese Ami Yuasa.
In addition to this silver medal, the Lithuanian delegation won 3 other medals (1 silver, 2 bronze) in Paris, in athletics, rowing and men's basketball (3rd Olympic Games in a row without any gold medals).
A little historic reminder : Lithuania had already participated in the Olympic Games in 1924 and 1928 (after the first independence of the country) and then under the colors of the USSR between 1952 and 1988 and finally again under the Lithuanian colors since 1992.
