Canonization of pope John Paul II in Poland

Sauf erreur de ma part, avec cette nouvelle émission commune entre la Pologne et la Cité du Vatican consacrée à la canonisation du pape Jean-Paul II (Karol Wojtyla), il s'agit de la 5ème émission commune entre les 2 pays ayant pour thème ce pape polonais, après 2000 (80ème anniversaire), 2003 (timbre en argent, 25 ans de pontificat), 2004 (8 visites pastorales en Pologne) et 2011 (béatification) !
A peine 3 ans après sa béatification et 9 ans après sa mort, le pape Jean-Paul II (1920-2005) sera donc canonisé, ainsi que Jean XXIII, par le pape François le 27 avril 2014.
Suite à un concours organisé par la poste vaticane, c'est le projet de Marzanna et Jacek Dąbrowscy qui a été retenu pour cette nouvelle émission commune.
If I'm not wrong, with this new joint stamp issue between Poland and the Vatican City devoted to the canonization of Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla), it is the fifth joint issue between the two countries having the Polish pope for theme, after 2000 (80th anniversary), 2003 (silver stamp, 25 years of his pontificate), 2004 (8 pastoral visits in Poland) and 2011 (beatification) !
Only three years after his beatification and nine years after his death, Pope John Paul II (1920-2005) will indeed be canonized, such as John XXIII, by Pope Francis on April 27, 2014.
After a stamp contest organized by the Vatican Post, the project of Marzanna and Jacek Dąbrowscy was chosen for this new joint stamp issue.

Cette série commune est constituée d'un timbre (2,35 zł, émis en feuillet de 6 timbres, tirage : 1500000) et de 2 bloc-feuillets (5 zł et 8,50 zł, tirage : 200000 chacun).
A noter que le Vatican a émis cette même série (avec les mêmes tirages) le 21 mars 2014 alors qu'elle a été émise le 2 avril 2014 par la poste polonaise. Les 2 séries polonaise et vaticane ont été imprimées en Pologne par PWPW ("Polish Security Printing Works").
Le 1er bloc-feuillet (numéroté 41450) ainsi que le timbre isolé (impression offset) ont été utilisés sur cette jolie lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 8 avril 2014 de Tarnobrzeg. Merci beaucoup Kazimierz :-)
A noter que le feuillet de 6 timbres comporte des citations de Jean-Paul II ayant marqué les fidèles catholiques, comme sa devise "Totus Tuus" ("je suis tout à vous" en latin) ou "Apportez aux générations futures un témoignage de foi, d'espérance et d'amour" mentionné en bas du timbre à droite ci-dessus.
This joint set consists of a stamp (2.35 zł, issued in sheet of six stamps, print run : 1,500,000) and two miniature sheets (5 zł and 8.50 zł, print run : 200,000 each).
To note that the Vatican City has issued this series (with the same print runs) on March 21, 2014 while it was issued on April 2, 2014 by the Polish Post. The two Polish and Vatican series were both printed in Poland by PWPW ("Polish Security Printing Works").
The first (numbered 41450) souvenir sheet as well as the stamp (offset) were used on this nice cover above sent on April 8, 2014 from Tarnobrzeg. Thank you very much Kazimierz :-)
To note that the sheet of six stamps includes quotes pronounced by John Paul II that marked the Catholic faithful, such as his motto "Totus Tuus" ("Totally yours" in Latin) or "Bring to future generations a testimony of faith , hope and love" mentioned in the bottom of that stamp on the right above.

Le 2ème bloc-feuillet (numéroté 47026) de cette série commune a été utilisé pour affranchir le 2ème pli ci-dessus envoyé le même jour.
Il s'agit en fait d'une version gravée (par Piotr Nazarkowski) du bloc précédent.
Comme pour le timbre et le bloc utilisés sur la 1ère lettre, l'auréole autour de la tête de Jean-Paul II a la particularité d'être constituée de citations (on retrouve à nouveau sa devise "Totus Tuus" par exemple), imprimées en microlettres, ayant marqué son pontificat.
A noter que le TAD Premier Jour émis par la poste polonaise concernant cette série, comporte la mention "Santo Subito" ("canonisez-le tout de suite" en latin), la locution utilisée par la foule lors des funérailles de Jean-Paul II en 2005.
The second (numbered 47026) souvenir sheet part of this joint set was used to frank the second cover above sent the same day.
This is actually an engraved version (by Piotr Nazarkowski) of the previous souvenir sheet.
As for the stamp and the souvenir sheet used on the first letter, the halo around the head of John Paul II has the particularity of being made ​​up of quotes (we can find again his motto "Totus Tuus" for example) printed in microtexts, having marked his pontificate.
To note that the FDC cancellation issued by the Polish Post regarding this series includes the words "Santo Subito" ("Saint now" in Latin), the phrase cried by the crowd at the funeral of John Paul II in 2005.

Dans des messages précédents publiés sur ce blog, j'ai déjà évoqué les 3 timbres émis par la poste tchèque le 26 mars 2014, consacrés respectivement au château de Červená Lhota (série "Beautés de notre pays"), à l'astronome et astrophysicien Zdeněk Kopal et au grand écrivain Bohumil Hrabal à l'occasion des 100 ans de leurs naissances.

In some previous posts published on this blog, I've already spoken about the three stamps issued by the Czech Post on March 26, 2014, devoted respectively to the Červená Lhota castle (series "Beauties of our country"), the astronomer and astrophysicist Zdeněk Kopal and the great writer Bohumil Hrabal on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of their births.

70 ans de la rafle des enfants juifs d'Izieu

Izieu children's raid - 70th anniversary

Le 6 avril 2014, La Poste a émis un timbre très émouvant concernant une des pages les plus sombres de l'histoire de France, ce qu'on appelle aujourd'hui la rafle des enfants juifs d'Izieu, qui eut lieu il y a exactement 70 ans.
La prévente de ce timbre (0,61€, tirage : 1500000) avait lieu dans cette maison-mémorial des enfants d'Izieu (Ain) mais aussi à Paris au Carré d'Encre.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir les 2 plis Premier Jour ci-dessous avec les TAD, identiques, émis dans ces 2 lieux.
Cette colonie des enfants d'Izieu a été créée en 1943 par Sabine et Miron Zlatin afin de les mettre à l'abri des persécutions édictées par les lois antisémites du régime de Vichy.
On April 6, 2014, La Poste issued a very affecting stamp devoted to one of the darkest pages in the history of France, what is now called the Izieu jewish children's raid, which took place there exactly 70 years ago.
The preview sale of that stamp (€ 0.61, print run : 1.5 million) took place in that Children's Memorial-house in Izieu (Department of Ain), but also in Paris at the "Carré d'Encre".
I was lucky to receive the two First Day Covers below with postmarks, identical, issued in these two places. This summer camp of Izieu children was created in 1943 by Sabine and Miron Zlatin in order to keep them safe regarding the anti-Semitic laws of the Vichy regime.

Cette colonie, souvent un lieu de passage, faisait alors partie d'un plus large réseau de sauvetage d'enfants juifs.
Le 6 avril 1944, sur ordre de Klaus Barbie, la Gestapo vient arrêter 44 enfants et 7 adultes présents dans cette maison d'Izieu. 42 de ces enfants seront déportés puis gazés à leur arrivée au camp d'Auschwitz-Birkenau alors que 2 adolescents et Miron Zlatin seront déportés puis fusillés en Estonie...
Suite au procès de Klaus Barbie à Lyon en 1987, le Mémorial des enfants juifs exterminés d'Izieu sera créé et officiellement inauguré en 1994 par le président François Mitterrand, à l'occasion des 50 ans de cette rafle.
Le TAD Premier Jour, conçu par Claude Perchat, représente une broche en argent (diamètre : 28mm) conçue en 1994 par Sabine Zlatin et remise aux anciens enfants passés par cette colonie. On peut y lire "Je suis un enfant d'Izieu".
This house, often a place of passage, was part of a wider network of rescue for Jewish children.
On April 6, 1944, on the orders of Klaus Barbie, the Gestapo came here to arrest the 44 children and 7 adults who were present in this house of Izieu. 42 of these children were deported and gassed on their arrival at Auschwitz-Birkenau camp while two teenagers and Miron Zlatin were deported and shot dead in Estonia...
Following the trial of Klaus Barbie in Lyon in 1987, the Memorial of exterminated Jewish children of Izieu was created and officially inaugurated in 1994 by President François Mitterrand, at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of that raid.
The FDC cancellation, designed by Claude Perchat, represents a silver brooch (diameter : 28mm) designed in 1994 by Sabine Zlatin and delivered to former children from Izieu. You can read on that brooch "Je suis un enfant d'Izieu" ("I am a child of Izieu").

Ce timbre (impression mixte offset/taille-douce), créé par Stéphane Humbert-Basset et gravé par Pierre Albuisson, représente la façade de cette maison d'Izieu dans le fond et une évocation de 14 de ces enfants juifs d'Izieu, inspirée de la photographie ci-dessus, prise à Izieu le 26 mars 1944...
That stamp (offset/intaglio printing), designed by Stéphane Humbert-Basset and engraved by Pierre Albuisson, features the facade of this Izieu's house in the background and an evocation of 14 of these Jewish children of Izieu, inspired by the photograph above, taken in Izieu on March 26, 1944...

J'ai lu ici ou là des débuts de polémique stérile concernant le graphisme de ce timbre : comment peut-on évoquer un thème aussi grave et tragique en choisissant de représenter l'innocence et l'inconscience de ces enfants, heureux et rieurs sur cette photographie ?
Pour moi, ce timbre nous rappelle juste à tous que cette rafle a concerné des enfants avant tout, ce qui constitue un crime inqualifiable.

I've read here and there the beginnings of sterile polemics about the design of this stamp : how can we talk about a so tragic theme by choosing to represent innocence and unawareness of these children, happy and laughing on this photography ?
In my opinion, that stamp just reminds us all that this raid concerned children first, which is an unspeakable crime.

Salon mondial du tourisme - TAD et timbre spéciaux

World Tourism Fair in Paris - Special stamp and postmark

Du 20 au 23 mars 2014 était organisé à Paris le Salon mondial du Tourisme, un évènement incontournable pour les passionnés de voyages mais aussi les professionnels du tourisme.
La Poste y avait un stand où il était possible pour les visiteurs de transformer leurs photos de vacances en timbres personnalisés de type MonTimbraMoi.
Un timbre pré-personnalisé au tarif permanent "Lettre Prioritaire 20g" a également été émis (en combien d'exemplaires ?) ainsi qu'une oblitération spéciale.
Joël a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer les 2 plis ci-dessous incluant ce timbre et ce TAD. Merci beaucoup :-)
From 20 to 23 March 2014 was organized in Paris the World Tourism Fair, a major event for the travel enthusiasts but also tourism industry.
La Poste had a stand where it was possible for visitors to transform their holyday photos into personalized stamps ("MonTimbraMoi" type).
A pre-personalized stamp including a permanent rate "Priority Letter 20g" was also issued (in how many copies ?) as well as a special postmark.
Joël was kind enough to send me the two covers below including that stamp and postmark. Thank you very much :-)

That stamp and cancellation both illustrate the slogan of this tourism fair : "Trouvez vacances à vos pieds" ("Find suitable holidays"), based on the French idiom "Trouvez chaussure à vos pieds"...

World Oceans Day by the UNPA

Depuis 2008, la Journée mondiale de l'océan, reconnue par l'Organisation des Nations Unies, est célébrée chaque année le 8 juin. Cette journée permet en particulier de faire connaître le rôle fondamental que jouent les océans dans notre vie et les moyens de contribuer à leur sauvegarde.
En 2013, cette journée avait pour thème "Les océans et les populations" avec un slogan "Ensemble, nous avons le pouvoir de protéger l'océan !".
Afin de célébrer cette journée mondiale, l'Administration Postale des Nations Unies (APNU) avait émis, le 31 mai 2013, trois feuilles composées de 12 timbres, une pour chaque bureau des Nations Unies (New-York, Vienne et Genève), libellées respectivement en dollars US, en euros et en francs suisses.
Since 2008, the World Oceans Day, recognized by the United Nations, is celebrated every year on June 8th. This day in particular allows to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives and the important ways in which people can help protect it.
In 2013, this day had for theme "Oceans and People" with a slogan "Together we have the power to protect the ocean !".
To celebrate this World Day, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has issued, on May 31, 2013, three sheets composed of 12 stamps, one for each office of the United Nations (New York, Vienna and Geneva), denominated respectively in U.S. dollars, Euros and Swiss francs.

Deux des 12 timbres (0,46$ chacun) de la feuille émise par le bureau de New-York ont été utilisés pour affranchir cette jolie lettre ci-dessus, envoyée le 31 mars 2014. Merci beaucoup Yan :-)
Pour la conception de ces timbres, l'APNU et la Fondation Dr Seuss ont travaillé en partenariat, s'inspirant du livre "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", publié en 1960 par le célèbre auteur et illustrateur américain Theodor "Seuss" Geisel (1904-1991), dit Dr Seuss.
Les 3 feuilles émises représentent ainsi, sur un fond marin, des personnages intemporels du Dr Seuss, auteur de 44 livres pour enfants.
A noter que l'USPS avait émis en 2004 un timbre en son honneur, à l'occasion des 100 ans de sa naissance.
Yan a également utilisé un 3ème timbre courant (0,23$), émis le 28 mars 2003, avec un graphisme évoquant la paix.

To design these stamps, the UNPA and the Dr. Seuss Foundation worked in partnership, inspired by the book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", published in 1960 by the famous American author and illustrator Theodor "Seuss" Geisel (1904-1991), well known as Dr. Seuss.
The three sheets issued incorporate the timeless Dr. Seuss characters within a marine life background.
To note that the USPS had issued in 2004 a stamp in his honor, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Yan also used a third definitive stamp ($ 0.23), issued on March 28, 2003, with a design evoking peace.

Tribute to Bohumil Hrabal in Czech Rep.

Il y a pratiquement 100 ans jour pour jour naissait à Brno celui qui allait être considéré comme le plus grand écrivain tchèque de la 2ème moitié du 20ème siècle, Bohumil Hrabal (1914-1997).
Ses oeuvres les plus remarquables, inspirées de sa jeunesse et de ses parents, seront écrites après le Printemps de Prague en 1968 lorsqu'il sera interdit de publication (jusqu'en 1976) : "La Chevelure sacrifiée", "La Petite ville où le temps s'arrêta", "Tendre barbare" ou "Moi qui ai servi le roi d'Angleterre" souvent considéré comme son chef d'oeuvre.
Son style est alors marqué par l'humour noir, le grotesque, l'ironie, la tendresse ou l'argot mêlé au raffinement d'une langue très poétique.
Almost 100 years ago to the day was born in Brno the one considered as the greatest Czech writer of the second half of the 20th century, Bohumil Hrabal (1914-1997).
His most notable works, inspired by his youth and his parents were written after the Prague Spring in 1968 when he was not allowed to publish (until 1976) : "The Little Town Where Time Stood Still", "The Gentle Barbarian" or "I Served the King of England" often considered as his masterpiece.
His style is marked by black humor, grotesque, irony, tenderness or slang mixed with the refinement of a very poetic language.

Ce n'est qu'après la chute du régime communiste et la Révolution de velours en 1989 que l'écrivain peut finalement publier ses œuvres dans leur version originale.
Il meurt en 1997 après la chute d'une fenêtre d'un hôpital de Prague, dans des circonstances qui ne seront jamais élucidées...
Pour commémorer le 100ème anniversaire de sa naissance, la poste tchèque a émis, le 26 mars 2014, un timbre spécial (17 CZK) conçu par Marina Richterová et gravé par Miloš Ondráček.

L'illustration à gauche évoque un de ses romans, "Skřivánci na niti" ("Alouettes sur un fil"), écrit en 1959.
L'autre timbre ci-dessus à gauche, émis le 12 février 2003, est consacré au professeur et écrivain Josef Thomayer (1853-1927), le premier médecin tchèque spécialiste des maladies internes, fondateur de l'école scientifique tchèque de médecine. Un des hôpitaux de Prague porte son nom.
It was only after the fall of communism and the Velvet Revolution in 1989 that the writer was finally allowed to publish his works in their original version.
He died in 1997 after falling from a window of an hospital in Prague, in circumstances that will never be clarified...
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Czech Post has issued on March 26, 2014, a special stamp (17 CZK) designed by Marina Richterová and engraved by Miloš Ondráček.

The illustration to the left evokes one of his novels, "Skřivánci na niti" ("Larks on a String"), written in 1959.
The other stamp above to the left, issued on February 12, 2003, is devoted to the writer and professor Josef Thomayer (1853-1927), the first Czech doctor specializing in internal medicine, founder of the Czech school of scientific medicine. An hospital in Prague was named after him.

Nelle flamme tchèque : médaillés mondiaux en athlétisme

New Czech pictural cancellation : IAAF World medalists

Comme de coutume pour honorer les athlètes tchèques ayant remporté des médailles lors de championnats du monde, une nouvelle flamme illustrée a été émise le 2 avril 2014, consacrée cette fois aux médaillés des derniers championnats du monde d'athlétisme en salle.
C'est cette flamme qui a été appliquée sur cette intéressante lettre envoyée depuis le bureau de poste n° 6 de Prague. Merci beaucoup Slavek :-)
Cette flamme inclut le logo de l'IAAF (Association internationale des fédérations d'athlétisme) ainsi que les noms des 3 athlètes tchèques ayant remporté une médaille lors de ces championnats du monde.
As usual to honor the Czech athletes who won medals at world championships, a new pictural cancellation was issued on April 2, 2014, devoted this time to the medalists at the last IAAF World Indoor Championships.
It is that cancellation that was applied to this interesting cover sent from the post office # 6 of Prague. Thank you very much Slavek :-)
This cancellation includes the IAAF's logo (International Association of Athletics Federations) as well as the names of three Czech athletes who won a medal at these world championships.

Pendant ces championnats du monde organisés à Sopot (Pologne) du 7 au 9 mars 2014, l'équipe tchèque a en effet remporté 3 médailles : or dans l'épreuve du 400 mètres hommes (Pavel Maslák avec un record national de 45.24), argent en saut à la perche femmes (Jiřina Svobodová) et bronze en saut à la perche hommes (Jan Kudlička).
Avec ces 3 médailles, la République Tchèque a terminé ces championnats à la 7ème place, à égalité avec Cuba et la France...
Slavek a affranchi sa lettre avec le timbre (création : Zdenek Netopil, gravure : Miloš Ondrácek) émis le 23 juin 2004 à l'occasion des jeux paralympiques d'été d'Athènes. Ce timbre représente une des 6 disciplines (athlétisme) dans lesquelles les 65 athlètes tchèques étaient engagés (les 5 autres étant le tir à l'arc, la natation, l'escrime, le basket-ball et le tennis de table).
At these IAAF world championships held in Sopot, Poland from 7 to 9 March 2014, the Czech team indeed won three medals : gold in the men's 400 meters (Pavel Maslák with a national record of 45.24), silver in women's pole vault (Jiřina Svobodová) and bronze in men's pole vault (Jan Kudlička).
With these three medals, Czech Republic finished these championship at the 7th rank, tied with Cuba and France...
Slavek franked his letter with the stamp (design : Zdenek Netopil, engraving : Miloš Ondrácek) issued on June 23, 2004 on the occasion of the Paralympic Summer Games in Athens. This stamp is featuring one of the six disciplines (athletics) in which the 65 Czech athletes were engaged (the other 5 being archery, swimming, fencing, basketball and table tennis).

Salon Philatélique de Printemps 2014 à Clermont-Ferrand

Spring Stamp Exhibition 2014 in Clermont-Ferrand 

Après Mâcon en 2013, la ville de Clermont-Ferrand (département du Puy-de-Dôme) a accueilli, du 4 au 6 avril 2014, le Salon Philatélique de Printemps, organisé chaque année par la CNEP.
A cette occasion, cette ville commémorait le 120ème anniversaire de l'inauguration de son opéra-théâtre, construit sur la place de Jaude entre 1891 et 1894.
Après 7 ans de rénovation, cet emblème culturel de la capitale de l'Auvergne vient de rouvrir ses portes au public qui peut ainsi à nouveau admirer les splendides peintures, fresques, sculptures dans la salle principale de ce théâtre à l'italienne.
Le timbre émis à cette occasion est consacré à la salle de cet opéra-théâtre et à ses couleurs flamboyantes.

After 7 years of renovation, this cultural landmark of the capital of Auvergne has reopened its doors to the public who can once again admire the beautiful paintings, frescoes, sculptures in the main hall of this Italian theater.
The stamp issued on this occasion is dedicated to the hall of this opera theater and its flamboyant colors.

La prévente de ce timbre avait bien sûr lieu pendant les 3 jours de ce Salon mais également à Paris (Carré d'Encre) avec le même TAD, conçu par Valérie Besser, représentant une partie de la façade de cet opéra-théâtre, oeuvre du sculpteur Henri Gourgouillon.
Ce timbre, créé et gravé par Claude Andréotto, évoque (à gauche) un détail des boiseries de cet opéra (architecte : Jean Teillard) alors qu'une vue de la salle principale est représentée à droite, avec en particulier le plafond, peint en 1893 par Jules Toulot, mêlant des scènes mythologiques et littéraires, symbolisant le mélange des arts.

The preview sale of that stamp took of course place during the three days of this stamp exhibition but also in Paris (Carré d'Encre) with the same FDC postmark, designed by Valérie Besser, depicting a part of the facade of this opera theater, a work by sculptor Henri Gourgouillon.
That stamp, designed and engraved by Claude Andréotto, features (on the left) a detailed woodwork of this opera (architect : Jean Teillard), while a view of the main hall is shown to the right, with in particular the ceiling, painted in 1893 by Jules Toulot, combining literary and mythological scenes, symbolizing the mixture of arts.

Comme les années précédentes, une vignette LISA spéciale (offset sur papier thermique LISA 2) a également été émise, uniquement pendant les 3 jours de ce Salon de Printemps.
Cette vignette (tarif "Lettre Prioritaire") figure sur la lettre ci-dessus avec une autre oblitération spéciale de ce Salon, incluant le logo de la CNEP sur une des 2 montgolfières survolant le puy de Dôme, en date du 5 avril 2014. Encore merci Jean-Claude !
A noter qu'une 2ème oblitération était proposée, représentant la tête de la statue équestre de Vercingétorix, également érigée sur la place de Jaude.
Cette vignette (tirage : 50000), conçue également par Claude Andréotto, représente une partie de la chaîne des Puys, cet ensemble volcanique (80 volcans) situé dans le nord du Massif Central. On peut voir ici le puy de Dôme (1465 m) au fond à gauche, qui domine Clermont-Ferrand ainsi que le puy de Pariou (1209 m) au 1er plan.
Le monument à droite (oeuvre du même architecte que l'opéra-théâtre !) a été érigé en 1903 sur le plateau de Gergovie où eu lieu en 52 avant JC la célèbre bataille de Gergovie qui opposa Vercingétorix aux légions romaines de Jules César.
As in previous years, a special "LISA" ATM stamp (offset on thermic LISA 2 paper) was also issued, only during the three days of this exhibition.
This LISA ("Priority Letter" rate) was used on the cover above with another special cancellation from this show, including the CNEP's logo on one of the two balloons flying over the Puy de Dôme, dated April 5, 2014. Thank you again Jean-Claude !
To note that a 2nd postmark was also available, featuring the head of the equestrian statue of Vercingetorix, also erected on the Place de Jaude.
This LISA (print run : 50000), also designed by Claude Andréotto, depicts a part of the "Chaîne des Puys", this volcanic group (80 volcanoes) located in the northern Massif Central. Here you can see the Puy de Dôme (1465 m) at the left in the background, which dominates Clermont-Ferrand as well as the Puy de Pariou (1209 m) on the 1st on the foreground.
The monument to the right (a work by the same opera theater's architect !) was erected in 1903 on the Gergovie plateau where took place in 52 BC the famous Battle of Gergovia between Vercingetorix and the Roman legions of Julius Caesar.

France-China joint stamp issue, new FDC 

J'ai déjà largement évoqué sur ce blog les 2 timbres de la série commune émise par les administrations postales de France et de Chine pour commémorer le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre les 2 pays.
J'ai en effet déjà publié les plis Premier Jour concernant la série chinoise (émise le 27 janvier 2014) et la série française (émise le 27 mars 2014).
I've already widely mentioned on this blog the two stamps of the joint series issued by the postal administrations of France and China to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
I've indeed already posted FDC regarding the Chinese series (issued January 27, 2014) as well as the French series (issued March 27, 2014).

Pour rappel, le TAD Premier Jour a été conçu par sa fille, Sophie Beaujard, et le thème de cette série commune est "Villes et Rivières" avec une évocation des 2 capitales historiques des deux pays : Paris et la Seine (vue de l'île de la Cité avec la cathédrale Notre-Dame et la Sainte-Chapelle) ainsi que Nanjing et la rivière Qinhuai (centre historique avec la porte Zhonghua et le temple de Confucius).

Depuis sa 1ère participation à des jeux olympiques d'hiver en 1984, la principauté de Monaco n'a engagé des athlètes que dans 2 disciplines : le bobsleigh et le ski alpin.
Cela a encore été le cas lors des 22èmes jeux d'hiver organisés à Sotchi en février 2014, avec une délégation monégasque composée de 6 athlètes (5 hommes et 1 femme) qui n'a malheureusement remporté aucune médaille.
Monaco a la particularité d'être le pays ayant participé au plus grand nombre de jeux olympiques d'été et d'hiver (28 éditions) sans avoir jamais remporté la moindre médaille...
Since its first participation at the Olympic Winter Games in 1984, the Principality of Monaco has engaged athletes only in two disciplines : alpine skiing and bobsleigh.
It was again the case during the 22nd Winter Games held in Sochi in February 2014, with a Monegasque delegation of six athletes (5 men and 1 woman) who unfortunately did not win any medals.
Monaco has the particularity of being the country having the most appearances at the Summer and Winter Olympics (28 editions) without ever having won a medal...

Le 30 janvier 2014, l'OETP de Monaco a émis un timbre spécial (1,78€, tirage : 60000) consacré à ces jeux olympiques d'hiver de Sotchi, conçu par Sophie Beaujard et gravé par Yves Beaujard.
C'est ce timbre, émis en feuille de 10 timbres, qui a été utilisé sur le pli ci-dessus posté de la principauté le 31 mars 2014.
Ce timbre inclut le logo de ces jeux de Sotchi et représente les 2 disciplines (ski alpin et bobsleigh) dans lesquelles les athlètes monégasques ont concouru.
A noter que depuis début 2013, les marges des feuilles de timbres émises à Monaco comportent la mention "Principauté de Monaco" en monégasque ("Principatu de Mùnegu") au lieu du français, qui est toutefois la langue officielle du pays.
On January 30, 2014, the Monaco's OETP (Office des Emissions de Timbres-Poste) has issued a special stamp (€ 1.78, print run : 60,000) dedicated to these Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, designed by Sophie Beaujard and engraved by Yves Beaujard.
It is that stamp, issued in sheets of 10 stamps, which was used on the cover above sent from the principality on March 31, 2014.
That stamp includes the logo of these Sochi Olympics and features two disciplines (alpine skiing and bobsleigh) in which the Monegasque athletes competed.
To note that since early 2013, the margins of the sheets of stamps issued in Monaco include the words "Principality of Monaco" in Monégasque dialect ("Principatu de Mùnegu") instead of French, which is however the official language of the country.

Considéré comme un des plus grands astronomes tchèques du 20ème siècle, Zdeněk Kopal (1914-1993) naissait il y a juste 100 ans à Litomyšl.
Le 26 mars 2014, la poste tchèque a émis un timbre spécial consacré à cet astronome et astrophysicien dont les principales recherches ont été consacrées aux étoiles variables et aux étoiles binaires à éclipses.
En astronomie, une étoile binaire est une étoile multiple composée de deux étoiles orbitant autour d'un centre de gravité commun alors qu'une étoile variable est une étoile dont la luminosité varie.

Considered the most significant Czech astronomer of the 20th century, Zdeněk Kopal (1914-1993) was born just 100 years ago in Litomyšl.
On March 26, 2014, the Czech Post has issued a special stamp dedicated to this astronomer and astrophysicist whose main research has been devoted to variable stars and eclipsing binary stars.
In astronomy, a binary star is a multiple star consisting of two stars orbiting around a common center of gravity while a variable star is a star whose brightness varies.

Il a été élu membre honoraire de la Société tchèque d'astronomie en 1967 ainsi que des sociétés d'astronomie de Liverpool, Salford et Manchester où il réalisa une grande partie de ses recherches en dirigeant le département d'astronomie de l'université de cette même ville. Il collabora également avec la NASA pour la préparation des missions Apollo.
Un astéroïde (2628), découvert en 1979, porte aujourd'hui son nom.
A noter que la gravure sur cette enveloppe ci-dessus évoque la coupole de l'observatoire historique d'Ondřejov (situé au sud-est de Prague), le principal observatoire de l'institut d'astronomie de l'académie tchèque des sciences.

Le 28 Avril 1952, le Japon et le Sri Lanka ont établi officiellement des relations diplomatiques suite à l'entrée en vigueur du traité de paix de San Francisco.
2 ans plus tard, en rejoignant le Plan de Colombo, le Japon débutait son programme d'aide publique au développement du Sri Lanka, se déclinant sous forme de subventions, de prêts ou de coopération technique.
Une coopération mutuelle humanitaire a été également mise en place suite aux terribles tsunamis au Sri Lanka en 2004 et au Japon en 2011.
Le Japon a également participé à la reconstruction du Sri Lanka après la fin de la guerre civile en 2009, mettant fin à près de 20 ans de conflit entre l'armée régulière et les séparatistes tamouls.
On April 28, 1952, Japan and Sri Lanka officially established diplomatic relations following the entry into force of the San Francisco Peace Treaty.
Two years later, joining the Colombo Plan, Japan began its official development assistance program in Sri Lanka, in the form of grants, loans and technical cooperation.
Mutual humanitarian cooperation has also been established following the terrible tsunamis in Sri Lanka in 2004 and Japan in 2011.
Japan also participated in the reconstruction of Sri Lanka after the end of the civil war in 2009, ending nearly 20 years of conflict between the army and Tamil separatists.

Pour commémorer le 60ème anniversaire de l'établissement de ces relations diplomatiques entre les 2 pays, la poste sri-lankaise a émis, le 18 janvier 2013 (avec 1 an de retard...), une jolie série de 2 timbres (conception : Kumudu Tharaka, tirage : 1000000 chacun).
Cette série a également été émise dans le joli bloc-feuillet utilisé sur l'enveloppe ci-dessus, postée le 24 mars 2014 de la ville de Piliyandala, une banlieue située dans le sud de la capitale, Colombo. Merci beaucoup Gayanth :-)
Ces timbres évoquent les fleurs nationales des 2 pays : la fleur de cerisier (sakura) pour le Japon (65 Rs) et une espèce de nénuphar, Nymphaea nouchali, pour le Sri Lanka (5 Rs). Cette fleur, représentée sur les célèbres fresques de Sigiriya, est un symbole de pureté et de vérité au Sri Lanka.
Gayanth a utilisé un 3ème timbre (5 Rs) ci-dessus à gauche, émis le 3 mars 2014 à l'occasion de la 1ère journée mondiale de la vie sauvage, dont l'objectif est de célébrer la faune et la flore sauvages et de sensibiliser le public à leur importance.
Ce timbre représente une espèce de grenouille (Taruga eques) menacée, endémique au Sri Lanka, vivant dans la région montagneuse du centre du pays (entre 1200 et 2200 mètres d'altitude).
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of these diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Sri Lankan Post has issued, on January 18, 2013 (with 1 year late...), a nice set of two stamps (design : Kumudu Tharaka, print run : 1,000,000 each).
This series was also issued in the beautiful souvenir sheet used on the cover above, posted on March 24, 2014 in the town of Piliyandala, a suburb of the south of the capital, Colombo. Thank you very much Gayanth :-)
These stamps are featuring the national flowers of both countries : cherry blossom (sakura) for Japan (Rs 65) and a water lily species, Nymphaea nouchali, for Sri Lanka (Rs 5). This flower, depicted on the famous Sigiriya frescoes, is a symbol of purity and truth in Sri Lanka.
Gayanth also used a third stamp (Rs 5) above to the left, issued on March 3, 2014 on the occasion of the first World Wildlife Day, which aims to celebrate the wild fauna and flora and public awareness of their importance.
That stamp features a frog threatened species (Taruga eques), endemic to Sri Lanka , living in the mountainous central region of the country.

Architectural heritage in Czech Rep.

Le 26 mars 2014, la poste tchèque a émis 3 nouveaux timbres dont un (17 CZK) faisant partie de la série "Beautés de notre pays", consacré au château de Červená Lhota.
Conçu par Jan Kavan et gravé par Bohumil Šneider, ce timbre figure sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessous, incluant une illustration et un TAD faisant référence à des ornements situés sur la façade de cet édifice. Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
Ce château de Červená Lhota ("Lhota Rouge"), situé en Bohême du sud, se trouve sur un îlot rocheux au milieu d'un étang. Mentionné pour la première fois en 1465, cette forteresse gothique a été rebâtie en style Renaissance au milieu du 16ème siècle, puis décoré au 17ème siècle par des artistes italiens. Au 19ème siècle, le château a été reconstruit en style néo-gothique.
Ce château (un des plus visités du pays) ainsi que son parc, font partie du Patrimoine National tchèque.
On March 26, 2014, the Czech Post issued three new stamps including one (17 CZK) being part of the series "Beauties of our country", devoted to the Červená Lhota castle.
Designed by Jan Kavan and engraved by Bohumil Šneider, that stamp appears on the nice official FDC below, including an illustration and postmarks both referring to ornaments located on the facade of this building. Thank you very much Bret :-)
This Červená Lhota castle ("Lhota Rouge"), located in South Bohemia, lies on a rocky island in the middle of a pond. Mentioned for the first time in 1465, this Gothic fortress was rebuilt in a Renaissance style in the middle of the 16th century and decorated in the 17th century by Italian artists. In the 19th century, the castle was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style.
This castle (one of the most visited in the country) as well as its park, are part of the Czech National Heritage.

L'autre timbre à gauche (8 CZK), émis le 26 juin 1996 (création : Eva Hašková, gravure : Martin Srb) est consacré à l'église Saint-Jean-Népomucène située à Zelená Hora ("Montagne verte"), à la frontière entre la Bohême et la Moravie.
Cette église de pèlerinage a été construite au début du 18ème siècle à la gloire de Saint Jean Népomucène, sur un plan en étoile. Il s'agit de la dernière et la plus originale oeuvre du grand architecte tchèque d'origine italienne Jan Blažej Santini (1677-1723) dont le style extrêmement personnel mélange l'architecture baroque aux éléments gothiques dans la construction et la décoration.
Ce site a été inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 1994.
The other stamp on the left (8 CZK), issued on June 26, 1996 (design : Eva Hašková, engraving : Martin Srb) is devoted to the Church of St. John of Nepomuk located in Zelená Hora ("Green Mountain"), not far from the border between Bohemia and Moravia.
This Pilgrimage Church was built in the early 18th century in honor of Saint John of Nepomuk, on a star-shaped plan. This is the latest and most original work by the great Czech architect of Italian descent Jan Blažej Santini (1677-1723), whose highly personal style mixes Baroque architecture with Gothic elements in the construction and decoration.
That place was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.

Encore un timbre "Panda" en France...

A "Panda" French stamp, once again...

5 ans après un timbre représentant un panda géant (il faisait partie d'un bloc-feuillet de 4 timbres consacré à des espèces menacées ou disparues), la poste française a à nouveau consacré un timbre à cette espèce en voie de disparition, vivant dans les régions montagneuses du centre de la Chine...
C'est ce timbre (0,61€, tirage : 1000000) qui figure sur cet intéressant FDC ci-dessous envoyé depuis le Carré d'Encre à Paris le 21 mars 2014. Merci beaucoup Joël :-)
A noter que la prévente de ce timbre avait également lieu les 21 et 22 mars 2014 au ZooParc de Beauval (avec toutefois un TAD différent) où résident les 2 seuls pandas (Yuan Zi et Huan Huan) en France depuis début 2012.
5 years after a stamp depicting a giant panda (it was part of a souvenir sheet of four stamps dedicated to endangered or extinct animal species), the French Post has once again issued a stamp devoted to this endangered species living in the mountainous regions of central China...
It is that stamp (€ 0.61, print run : 1,000,000) that appears on this interesting FDC below sent from the "Carré d'Encre" in Paris on March 21, 2014. Thank you very much Joël :-)
To note that the preview sale of that stamp took also place on 21 and 22 March 2014 at the Beauval Zoo Parc (with a different FDC postmark) where are living the only two pandas (Yuan Zi and Huan Huan) in France since early 2012.

J'aime bien le style particulier et contemporain de ce timbre, conçu par le graphiste et illustrateur Olivier Tallec (né en 1970), qui travaille régulièrement avec la presse et qui a publié une cinquantaine de livres pour la jeunesse.
Le fond rouge a été spécialement utilisé pour mentionner que cette espèce était aujourd'hui en danger, tout comme les 3 autres espèces d'ours (ours andin, ours Kermode et ours polaire) également présent dans le bloc-feuillet émis dans cette même série.
Cette série est la 3ème émise en France consacrée à des ours après un 1er timbre émis en 1991 (ours des Pyrénées) et celui émis en 2009 (panda géant)...
I really like the contemporary style of that stamp, designed by the French graphic designer and illustrator Olivier Tallec (born 1970), who is regularly working with the press and has published fifty books for young people.
The red background was specifically used to indicate that this species was today in danger, as well as the three other bear species (Andean bear, Kermode bear and Polar bear) also present in the souvenir sheet issued in this same series.
This series is the third issued in France devoted to bears after a first stamp issued in 1991 (Brown bear) and the one issued in 2009 (Giant panda)...

Avec 2 mois de retards, la poste française a enfin émis, le 27 mars 2014, les 2 timbres de sa série commune avec la Chine...
Pour rappel, cette émission commune célèbre le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre la France et la République populaire de Chine, le 27 janvier 1964 exactement.
La poste chinoise avait respecté cette date en émettant sa série le 27 janvier 2014. J'avais déjà évoqué la version chinoise de cette série dans un message sur ce blog.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir le joli pli Premier Jour ci-dessous concernant cette version française. Merci beaucoup Roland :-)
With two months of delays, the French Post finally issued, on March 27, 2014, the two stamps of its joint series with China...
As a reminder, this joint issue celebrates the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and the People's Republic of China, on January 27, 1964 exactly.
The China Post had considered that date by issuing its series on January 27, 2014. I've already mentioned the Chinese version of this series in a previous post on this blog.
I was lucky to receive the nice first day cover below regarding this French version. Thank you very much Roland :-)

Comme la série chinoise, cette série a été imprimée en taille-douce, une création et gravure d'Yves Beaujard qui était présent au Carré d'Encre ce 27 mars 2014 pour une séance de dédicace (voir sa signature sur cette enveloppe ci-dessus à gauche). Cette prévente a eu lieu en présence également du président de la La Poste et de son homologue de la China Post.

Such as the Chinese set, this series was printed in intaglio, design and engraving by Yves Beaujard who was present at the "Carré d'Encre" on March 27, 2014 for a signing session (see his signature on this cover above to the left). This preview sale took place also in the presence of the President of La Poste and his counterpart of the China Post.
The FDC postmark, playing on a mirror effect between the cities of Paris and Nanjing, was designed by his daughter, Sophie Beaujard.

Expo Philatélique 2014 à Munich - Souvenirs allemands et tchèques

Du 6 au 8 mars 2014 avait lieu à Munich la 17ème édition de la bourse philatélique internationale ("Internationale Briefmarken-Börse").
Franz (merci beaucoup !) m'a envoyé, le 8 mars 2014, le pli ci-dessous incluant une des 4 oblitérations spéciales émises par la Deutsche Post lors de cette exposition philatélique :-)
Ce TAD représente le Monopteros (inspiré des temples romains), construit en 1836 sur une colline située dans le jardin anglais ("Englischer Garten"), un grand espace vert au nord-est de Munich, dans le quartier de Schwabing. Cet édifice, d'une hauteur de 16 mètres, a été dessiné par Leo von Klenze et construit par Kelheimer Kalkstein.
From 6 to 8 March 2014 took place in Munich the 17th edition of the International Philatelic Exhibition ("Internationale Briefmarken-Börse").
Franz (thank you very much !) sent me, on March 8, 2014, the cover below, including one of the four special postmarks issued by the Deutsche Post during this philatelic exhibition :-)
This cancellation features the "Monopteros" (inspired by Roman temples), built in 1836 on a hill in the English Garden ("Englischer Garten"), a large green area to the north-east of Munich, in the district of Schwabing.
This 16 meters-high monument was designed by Leo von Klenze and built by Kelheimer Kalkstein.

En plus des 2 timbres courants (série "fleurs des jardins"), Franz a utilisé ci-dessus à droite un des 3 timbres de la série de bienfaisance (0,60€ + 0,30€) émise le 6 février 2014, consacrée au célèbre conte des frères Grimm, "Hansel et Gretel", publié au début du 19ème siècle.
Avec cette série annuelle émise avec une surtaxe au profit d'associations caritatives ("Für die Wohlfahrtspflege"), la poste allemande débute cette année un cycle consacré à différents contes des frères Grimm.
Ce conte, proche du "Petit Poucet" de Perrault, met en scène un frère et une sœur perdus dans la forêt par leur parents, se retrouvant aux prises avec une sorcière anthropophage.
Ce timbre (version autocollante), reproduit une illustration du livre "Les enfants dans la forêt" ("Die Kinder im Wald") par Astrid Grahl et Lutz Menze.
Comme de coutume, ces 3 timbres ont été émis chacun en feuillet de 10 timbres avec des marges incluant le slogan "Gutes Tun - Mit Briefmarken helfen" ("Faire du bien - Aider grâce aux timbres") !
In addition to the two definitive stamps ("garden flowers" series), Franz used above to the right one of the three stamps being part of the charity series (€ 0.60 + € 0.30) issued on February 6, 2014, devoted to the famous fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" by the Brothers Grimm, published in the early 19th century.
With this annual series issued with a surcharge for caritative associations ("Für die Wohlfahrtspflege"), the Deutsche Post is starting this year a cycle devoted to different Brothers Grimm's fairy tales.
This tale, bearing resemblances with Charles Perrault's "Hop-o'-My-Thumb", features a brother and a sister lost in the woods by their parents, coming into conflict with a cannibalistic witch.
That stamp (self-adhesive version) reproduces an illustration from the book "Children in the Forest" ("Die Kinder im Wald") by Astrid Grahl and Lutz Menze.
As usual, these three stamps were each issued in sheet of 10 stamps with margins including the slogan "Gutes Tun - Mit Briefmarken helfen" ("Doing good - Help with stamps") !

Une dizaine d'administrations postales étrangères étaient également présentes lors de cette exposition, en particulier la poste tchèque qui, comme l'an passé, a célébré sa participation en émettant un entier postal spécial (tarif permanent 'E' jusqu'à 50g vers l'Europe, 25 CZK actuellement) incluant un timbre reprenant l'illustration d'un timbre tchécoslovaque (diligence postale sur le Pont Charles) émis en 1966 lors d'une exposition philatélique à Prague. 
C'est cet entier postal ci-dessus que Bret a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer avec une oblitération de Prague du 1er jour d'émission :-)
Cette carte, comportant la mention "PostFila Prag" (la branche "Philatélie" de la poste tchèque), inclut une illustration à gauche rappelant des images de cartes postales anciennes...
A dozen foreign postal administrations were also present at this stamp exhibition, in particular the Czech Post which, as it was the case last year, celebrated its participation by issuing a special postal stationary (permanent rate 'E' up to the 50g to Europe, currently 25 CZK) including a stamp reproducing the design of a Czechoslovak stamp (postal stagecoach on the Charles Bridge) issued in 1966 at the occasion of a stamp exhibition in Prague. 
It is that postal stationary above that Bret was kind enough to send me with a cancellation from Prague applied the first day of issue :-)
This card, including the words "PostFila Prag" (the Czech Post "Philately" special department) is featuring to the right an illustration reminding some old postcard's pictures...

Le 22 mars 2014, la poste de Moldavie a émis une intéressante série de 2 timbres dans le cadre des émissions EUROPA dont le thème cette année est consacré aux instruments de musiques nationaux.
Ces 2 timbres, émis chacun en feuille de 10 timbres ainsi que dans un carnet (j'en reparle plus loin), figurent sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessous (tirage : 300 exemplaires !), mis en page et illustré par le concepteur des timbres, Vitalie Roşca.
Merci beaucoup Nicolae pour ce pli avec le TAD Premier Jour de Chișinău, reprenant sobrement le logo des séries EUROPA :-)
Il s'agit de la 1ère lettre que je reçois concernant les timbres EUROPA 2014, j'espère en recevoir beaucoup d'autres !
On March 22, 2014, the Post of Moldova has issued an interesting set of two EUROPA stamps whose theme this year is devoted to national music instruments.
These two stamps, each issued in sheet of 10 stamps and in a booklet (I speak about later in this post), are included on the nice official FDC below (print run : 300 only !), laid out and illustrated by the designer of the stamps, Vitalie Roşca.
Thank you very much Nicolae for this cover with the FDC cancellation from Chişinău, soberly featuring the logo of these EUROPA series :-) 
This is the first letter I received with EUROPA 2014 stamps, hoping I'll receive many others !

Ces 2 timbres (tirage : 100000 chacun) évoquent deux instruments typiques de la musique folklorique moldave et roumaine : le cymbalum (3 L) et le cobza (5,75 L).
Le cymbalum ("țambal" en moldave), ou "piano tsigane", est un instrument à cordes frappées faisant partie de la famille des cithares sur table. Il est constitué d'une caisse de résonance en bois en forme de trapèze, serti d'une centaine de cordes métalliques, frappées à l'aide de petits marteaux.
Cet instrument d'accompagnement harmonique traditionnel est mentionné au 18ème siècle en Moldavie, probablement d'origine perse ou indienne.
L'autre timbre représente un autre instrument à cordes (pincées), le cobza, une version locale de oud apportée par les ottomans, que l'on retrouve en Moldavie, Roumanie ou Hongrie.
These two stamps (print run : 100,000 each) are featuring two typical instruments of the Moldovan and Romanian folk music : cimbalom (3 L) and cobza (5.75 L).
Cimbalom ("țambal" in Moldovan), or "Gipsy piano", is a hammered dulcimer instrument that is part of the table zither family. It consists of a large, trapezoidal wooden box with one hundred metal strings, struck with small hammers.
This traditional accompaniment harmonic instrument is mentioned in the 18th century in Moldova, probably of Persian or Indian origin.
The other stamp shows another stringed instrument, the cobza, a local version of the oud of Ottoman origin, found in Moldova, Romania or Hungary.

Ces 2 timbres ont donc également été émis dans un carnet composé des 2 feuillets ci-dessus, composés chacun de 3 timbres + 1 vignette.
Ces 2 vignettes montrent des musiciens, jouant respectivement de ces 2 instruments, membres de l'orchestre de musique populaire "Folclor" de la Radio-Télévision nationale, fondé en 1968 par Dumitru Blajinu afin de redonner vie à des centaines de chansons et de danses populaires moldaves.
Cet orchestre fait partie du philharmonique national moldave portant le nom de Serghei Lunchevici (1934-1995), violoniste et chef d'orchestre de renommée internationale.
These two stamps were therefore also issued in a booklet composed of the two souvenir sheets above, each consisting of 3 stamps + 1 vignette.
These two vignettes show musicians, playing each of these two instruments, members of the folk music orchestra "Folclor" of the National Radio-Television, founded in 1968 by Dumitru Blajinu in order to revive hundreds of folk songs and dances in Moldova.
This orchestra is part of the Moldovan National Philharmonic named after Serghei Lunchevici (1934-1995), violinist and conductor of international renown.

Cette couverture montre un cobza à gauche ainsi que cet orchestre de musique populaire "Folclor" à droite, dirigé par Petre Neamțu (né en 1950) depuis 1985.

Un grand merci Bret pour cette magnifique lettre recommandée envoyée le 5 mars 2014 de Prague !
J'ai déjà évoqué sur ce blog la plupart des timbres utilisés ci-dessous, en particulier les 2 timbres (13 Kč) en haut à droite, émis le 5 mars 2014, consacrés à des véhicules historiques.
Le même jour, la poste tchèque a émis le timbre en haut à gauche, évoquant le 150ème anniversaire des pompiers dans le pays.
Le timbre en bas à droite (14 Kč) fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres émise le 7 mars 2012, faisant partie de la série annuelle "Beautés de notre pays" consacrée au patrimoine historique et architectural de la ville de Kuks.

I've already mentioned on this blog most of the stamps used below, in particular the two stamps (13 Kč) at the top right, issued on March 5, 2014, dedicated to historical vehicles.
The same day, the Czech Post issued the stamp in the upper left, referring to the 150th anniversary of the firefighters in the country.
The stamp in the lower right (14 Kč) is part of a series of two stamps issued on March 7, 2012, being part of the annual series "Beauties of our country" dedicated to the historical and architectural heritage of the city of Kuks.

Bret a également utilisé, en bas à gauche, 2 autres timbres dont celui à 12 Kč, émis le 9 février 2011, également dans la séries "Beautés de notre pays", commémorant le 950ème anniversaire de la fondation de la ville de Cheb, située à l'extrême ouest du pays.
Ce timbre représente une maison caractéristique du quartier de Špalíček (13ème siècle), l'église Saint-Nicolas ainsi que l'intérieur de la chapelle romane (12ème siècle) du château de Cheb.
Le dernier timbre (10 Kč), émis le 20 janvier 2011, est consacré à la tradition de la conception des timbres en république tchèque, à sa gravure unique en particulier. C'est le graveur Josef Herčík (1922-1999) qui était honoré cette année à travers la reproduction d'un timbre pré imprimé (avec mention "Ceskoslovensko") sur une enveloppe commémorative émise en 1966 à l'occasion d'une exposition à Prague de l'union des philatélistes tchécoslovaques.
Ce timbre, qui représente une diligence postale sur le pont Charles à Prague, fait partie des plus de 400 timbres gravés par Josef Herčík, un des artistes tchèques les plus prolifiques après la seconde guerre mondiale.
Bret also used, at the bottom left, two other stamps including the 12 Kč's one, issued on February 9, 2011, also in the series " Beauties of our country", commemorating the 950th anniversary of the founding of the city of Cheb, located in the far west of the country. 
That stamp depicts a typical house in the neighborhood of Špalíček (13th century), the St. Nicolas Church and an inside view of the Romanesque chapel (12th century) of the castle of Cheb. 
The last stamp (10 Kč), issued on January 20, 2011, is devoted to the tradition of Czech stamp design, to its unique engraving tradition in particular. It is the engraver Josef Herčík (1922-1999) who was honored this year through the reproduction of a pre-printed stamp (with the mention "Ceskoslovensko") included on a commemorative envelope issued in 1966 at the occasion of an exhibition in Prague oragnized by the union of Czechoslovak philatelists.
That stamp, featuring a postal coach on the Charles Bridge in Prague, is one of the 400 stamps engraved by Josef Herčík, one of the most prolific Czech artists of the post World War II era.

En 2007, 2009 et 2011, les administrations postales européennes membres de l'association Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) ont émis des séries de timbres ayant un thème commun, à savoir des paysages caractéristiques de chacun de ces pays ou territoires.
Il semble que le rythme de ces émissions Sepac soit devenu annuel puisqu'en 2013, le thème était consacré aux animaux et les fleurs sont à l'honneur en 2014.
Il y a actuellement 14 membres de cette association postale, avec le Vatican qui en fait partie depuis 2011.
A ce jour, Saint-Marin et le Vatican n'ont jamais participé à ces émissions, caractérisées par la présence du logo Sepac sur les timbres.
In 2007, 2009 and 2011, the European postal administrations, members of the association Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) have issued a series of stamps with a common theme, namely some characteristic landscapes of each of these countries or territories.
It seems that the rhythm of the Sepac stamp issues became annual since in 2013, the theme was devoted to animals and flowers are in the spotlight in 2014.
There are currently 14 members of this postal association, with Vatican City joining in 2011.
To date, San Marino and Vatican City have never participated in these Sepac issues, characterized by the presence of the Sepac's logo on the stamps.

Le 26 février 2014, l'administration postale des îles Féroé a émis son timbre Sepac, représentant une fleur de rosier à feuilles molles ou églantier mou (Rosa mollis).
C'est ce joli timbre (14,50 DKK, photographie de Jens Kjeld Jensen) qui a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus postée le 13 mars 2014 de Torshavn, la capitale de cet archipel. Merci beaucoup Jia Yi !
Cet arbuste à fleurs, qui aurait été importé par les Vikings il y a 1000 ans, a été observé dans de rares endroits des Féroé (Vestmanna, Eiði et Haldórsvík) au milieu du 20ème siècle puis a disparu.
L'administration des forêts féroïennes (Skógrøkt Landsins) avait toutefois collecté des graines de ce rosier à Haldórsvík et la seule rose originelle y fleurit encore aujourd'hui, ainsi que dans un petit nombre de jardins, en particulier celui situé à Nólsoy.
On February 26, 2014, the postal administration of the Faroe Islands has issued its Sepac stamp, featuring a flower of soft downy rose (Rosa mollis).
It is that nice stamp (14.50 DKK, photography by Jens Kjeld Jensen) that was used on the cover above mailed on March 13, 2014 from Torshavn, the capital of this archipelago. Thank you very much Jia Yi!
