Présidence du G8/G20 sur timbre français

With its slogan "Nouveau Monde - Nouvelles Idées" ("New World - New Ideas"), the French Presidency of the G8 and G20 in 2011 is setting the tone...
You've just to add a stylized Eiffel tower and the blue white and red colors of the French flag and this Presidency's logo is ready !
I'll let you make your own opinion through the square stamp below (€ 0.89), in general sale on July 11, 2011, issued for this occasion.
Thank you very much Joël for this interesting first day cover with postmark from Paris ("Carré d'Encre") dated July 8, 2011 :-)

So it is my country that is and will be on the front of the stage with the G8 Summit (held on May in Deauville) and G20 Summit (that will take place in Cannes in early November) !
The G8, formerly G7, was created in 1975 and includes the most powerful economies in the world. The G20 was established in 1999 during a financial crisis (already !), bringing together the G8 members and the main emerging countries (India, China, Brazil, Australia, South Africa...) + the European Union, i.e. 85% of the world economy.
Economic initially, the G20 has become over the years much more political and even social and should have to replace the G8 in the medium term...
The priorities of the French Presidency of the G20 are : reforming the international monetary system, strengthening financial regulation and the social dimension of globalization, combating commodity price volatility, working on behalf of development... Good luck !
