20 years of the Andorran Constitution

Le 2 février 1993, le parlement d'Andorre (Conseil Général) adoptait la 1ère constitution dans l'histoire de la principauté. Elle fut ensuite approuvée par référendum le 14 mars 1993 par 74% des habitants.
Le 28 avril 1993, elle est signée par le syndic général et les deux coprinces andorrans, l'évêque d'Urgell et le président de la république française (François Mitterrand).
Cette constitution, composée de 107 articles, entra définitivement en vigueur le 4 mai 1993 et permit alors à la principauté de se définir politiquement vers l'extérieur et de devenir un état indépendant, de droit, démocratique et social, avec ce régime politique particulier de coprincipauté parlementaire.
On February 2, 1993, the parliament of Andorra (General Council) adopted the first constitution in the history of the Principality. It was then approved by referendum on March 14, 1993 by 74% of the population.
On April 28, 1993, it was signed by the syndic général and the Andorra's two co-princes, the Bishop of Urgell and the President of the French Republic (François Mitterrand).
This constitution, consisting of 107 articles, finally entered into force on May 4, 1993 and then allowed the Principality to have a political line outward and to become an independent, constitutional, democratic and social state with this particular political system of co-principality.

Pour commémorer le 20ème anniversaire de cette constitution, la poste française en Andorre a émis, le 15 mars 2013, un timbre spécial (0,63€, tirage : 70000) conçu par Père Moles.
C'est ce timbre, avec cet arbre stylisé ayant 7 branches (comme le nombre de paroisses andorranes), qui a été utilisé sur cette jolie lettre ci-dessus postée le 10 mai 2013 de la paroisse d'Escaldes-Engordany. Merci beaucoup Olivier :-)
Le TAD a été émis spécialement à l'occasion de l'assemblée générale de l'association philatélique Philandorre organisée ce jour-là dans cette paroisse.
Ce cachet représente un des trésors situés dans cette paroisse, l'église romane (12ème siècle) Sant Miquel d'Engolasters avec sa petite nef son impressionnant clocher de 17 mètres de haut.
A noter que la poste espagnole en Andorre n'a curieusement pas prévu cette année d'émission de timbre consacré à ce 20ème anniversaire de la constitution alors qu'elle avait commémoré son 10ème (en 2003, idem pour la poste française) et son 15ème anniversaire (en 2008)...
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this constitution, the French Post in Andorra issued on March 15, 2013, a special stamp (€ 0.63, print run: 70,000) designed by Father Moles.
It is that stamp, with this stylized tree with seven branches (such as the number of Andorran parishes), that was used on this nice cover above posted on May 10, 2013 on the parish of Escaldes-Engordany. Thank you very much Olivier :-)
The postmark was specially issued on the occasion of the general assembly of the Philatelic Association "Philandorre" held that day in this parish.
This cancellation depicts one of the treasures in this parish, the Romanesque church (12th century) Sant Miquel d'Engolasters with its small nave and its impressive 17 meters high bell tower.
To note that the Spanish Post in Andorra has curiously not expected this year the issue of a stamp devoted to this 20th anniversary of the constitution while the 10th anniversary (in 2003, the same by the French Post) and the 15th anniversary (in 2008) were commemorated...
