Les "Lions de l'Atlas", le surnom de l'équipe nationale marocaine de football, a participé pour la 5ème fois de son histoire (après 1970, 1986, 1994 et 1998) à une phase finale de Coupe du monde de football, organisée en Russie (du 14 juin au 15 juillet 2018).
Lors de cette 21ème édition, le Maroc n'a pas franchi la phase de poule, terminant à la dernière place d'un groupe relevé (avec l'Espagne, le Portugal et l'Iran).
Pour célébrer la participation de l'équipe nationale à cette Coupe du monde 2018, la poste marocaine Barid Al-Maghrib a mis en circulation, le 20 juin 2018, un joli timbre (9 dirhams, imprimé en France par Phil@poste) simplement intitulé "Équipe nationale du Maroc".
The "Lions of the Atlas", the nickname of the Moroccan national football team, participated for the fifth time in its history (after 1970, 1986, 1994 and 1998) in a final phase of a FIFA World Cup, organized in Russia (from June 14 to July 15, 2018).
At this 21st edition, Morocco did not pass the group stage, finishing in the last rank of a tough group (with Spain, Portugal and Iran).
To celebrate the participation of the national team in this 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Moroccan Post Barid Al-Maghrib put into circulation, on June 20, 2018, a nice stamp (9 Dirhams, printed in France by Phil@poste) simply entitled "National team of Morocco" in French and Arab.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir le joli FDC numéroté officiel ci-dessus concernant ce timbre, envoyé le 12 septembre 2018 depuis Rabat, la capitale. Merci beaucoup Pierre !
Ce timbre montre des joueurs de l'équipe nationale marocaine de dos, célébrant un but, avec la mention "2018" sur leurs maillots ainsi que le drapeau national sur fond de cathédrale Basile-le-Bienheureux sur la Place Rouge à Moscou, un des symboles du pays (également présente sur l'enveloppe).
L'emblème de la Fédération royale marocaine de football est également inclus en haut à gauche sur le timbre.
A noter également sur cette enveloppe à droite ce hashtag #DimaMaghreb (Allez le Maroc ?) utilisé sur les réseaux sociaux pour accompagner le parcours des "Lions de l'Atlas" en Russie.

That stamp shows players of the Moroccan national team from behind, celebrating a goal, with the mention "2018" on their jerseys as well as the national flag with the Saint Basil's Cathedral in Red Square in Moscow, one of the symbols of the country (also present on the envelope), in the background.
The emblem of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is also included at the top left on the stamp.
To note also on this envelope to the right this hashtag #DimaMaghreb (Go Morocco?) used on social networks to accompany the "Lions of the Atlas" in Russia.
