Timbre EUROPA 2018 (Ponts) sur lettre de Pologne

Le 2 mai 2018, la poste polonaise a mis en circulation son timbre EUROPA consacré cette année au thème des ponts, montrant une vue originale du pont de Tczew ("Most w Tczewie").
Conçu par Roch Stefaniak, ce timbre de grande taille - 62,50 x 39,50 mm - (5 PLN, tirage : 180000), imprimé en feuillet de 6 timbres, a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 31 octobre 2018 depuis la ville de Łosice (centre-est du pays). Merci beaucoup Gregorz !
La petite ville de Tczew, située dans le nord de la Pologne (au sud de Gdańsk), est en particulier connue pour ce pont routier construit sur la Vistule entre 1851 et 1857 (première pierre posée par le roi de Prusse Frédéric-Guillaume IV).
A cette époque, ce pont était considéré comme un des plus longs ponts du monde (837 mètres de long) et situé sur un axe stratégique entre l'Allemagne et la Russie.
On May 2, 2018, the Polish Post put into circulation its EUROPA stamp devoted this year to the theme of bridges, showing an original view of the Tczew bridge ("Most w Tczewie").
Designed by Roch Stefaniak, this large size - 62.50 x 39.50 mm - stamp (PLN 5, print run: 180,000), printed in a sheetlet of 6 stamps, was used on the letter below sent on October 31, 2018 from the city of Łosice (center-east of the country). Thank you very much Gregorz!
The small town of Tczew, located in the north of Poland (south of Gdańsk), is particularly known for this road bridge built on the Vistula river between 1851 and 1857 (first stone laid by the King of Prussia Frederick William IV).
At that time, this bridge was considered as one of the longest bridges in the world (837 meters long) and located on a strategic axis between Germany and Russia.

Le pont avait initialement dix tours et deux portes d'entrée avec de beaux portails.
Certains historiens considèrent que l'attaque de ce pont par les troupes allemandes le 1er septembre 1939, marque le véritable début de la 2ème guerre mondiale. Les soldats allemands ont été repérés par l'armée polonaise qui a alors ordonné la destruction du pont pour empêcher les allemands de traverser le fleuve...
Le pont a été reconstruit en 1940 mais détruit à nouveau en 1945 par les allemands. Sa reconstruction finale a eu lieu entre 1958 et 1959, avec uniquement 4 tours conservées (longueur totale : 1052 mètres).
Ce pont, en particulier la ligne de chemin de fer qui traverse Tczew et relie Varsovie à des villes telles que Gdańsk, Bydgoszcz ou Szczecin, reste une voie logistique extrêmement importante en Pologne aujourd'hui.
The bridge originally had ten towers and two entrance gates with beautiful portals.
Some historians consider that the attack of this bridge by the German troops on September 1st, 1939, marks the real beginning of the 2nd world war. German soldiers were spotted by the Polish army who then ordered the destruction of the bridge to prevent Germans from crossing the river ...
The bridge was rebuilt in 1940 but destroyed again in 1945 by the Germans. Its final reconstruction took place between 1958 and 1959, with only 4 towers preserved (total length: 1,052 meters).
This bridge, in particular the railway line that runs through Tczew and connects Warsaw to cities such as Gdańsk, Bydgoszcz or Szczecin, remains an extremely important logistics route in Poland today.
