Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2020 (Anciennes routes postales) sur lettre de Gibraltar

La poste de Gibraltar n'est pas officiellement membre de l'association PostEurop qui gère l'émission chaque année des timbres EUROPA. Gibraltar émet toutefois des timbres EUROPA depuis 1979, utilisant le logo officiel uniquement depuis 2012 (sauf en 2013)...
Pour illustrer le thème des anciennes routes postales, la poste de Gibraltar a mis en circulation, le 8 mai 2020, 2 timbres représentant des bateaux à vapeur utilisés pour transporter le courrier à destination et en provenance de Gibraltar au 19ème siècle.
Ces 2 timbres, conçus par Stephen Perera à partir d'illustrations de l'artiste basée à Gibraltar, Beatrice Garcia, ont été imprimés (par BPost en Belgique) chacun en feuillet de 8 timbres ainsi que dans un même bloc-feuillet, utilisé pour affranchir la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 6 juillet 2020. Gibraltar Post is not officially a member of the PostEurop association managing the issue of EUROPA stamps each year. Gibraltar has been issuing EUROPA stamps since 1979, however, using the official logo only since 2012 (except 2013) ...
To illustrate the theme of the ancient postal routes, Gibraltar Post issued on May 8, 2020, two stamps depicting steam packet ships used to transport mail to and from Gibraltar in the 19th century.
These two stamps, designed by Stephen Perera from illustrations by Gibraltar-based artist Beatrice Garcia, were each printed (by BPost in Belgium) in sheetlet of 8 stamps as well as in a unique souvenir sheet, used to stamp the letter below sent on July 6, 2020. Thank you very much Joseph!
 

Le timbre ci-dessus à gauche (1,66 £) représente le navire "Lady Mary Wood", un cargo à vapeur à roue à aubes (49 mètres de long) construit en 1842 (exploité jusqu'en 1858) par Thomas Wilson & Company à Liverpool.
Ce navire, portant le nom de l'épouse de Sir Charles Wood, le premier vicomte Halifax, fut le premier bateau à vapeur envoyé en Extrême-Orient (exploité par la Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company), arrivant à Singapour le 4 août 1845. 
L'autre timbre (2,86 £) est consacré au "SS Iberia" de P&O, un autre bateau à vapeur (47 mètres de long, équipage de 41 membres) construit en 1836. Ce navire, exploité également par la Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (créée par Brodie McGhie Willcox et Arthur Anderson), fut spécifiquement destiné à faire valoir les droits de cette compagnie sur le contrat postal de la péninsule ibérique.
Exploité jusqu'en 1856, le "SS Iberia" assurait le transport du courrier entre Londres et l'Espagne (y compris Gibraltar) et le Portugal. 
The stamp above on the left (£ 1.66) depicts the ship "Lady Mary Wood", a paddle wheel steam cargo (49 meters long) built in 1842 (operated until 1858) by Thomas Wilson & Company in Liverpool.
This ship, named after Sir Charles Wood's wife, the first Viscount Halifax, was the first steamboat sent to the Far East (operated by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company), arriving in Singapore on August 4, 1845.
The other stamp (£ 2.86) is dedicated to P&O's "SS Iberia", another steamboat (47 meters long, crew of 41) built in 1836. This vessel, also operated by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (created by Brodie McGhie Willcox and Arthur Anderson), was specifically intended to press their claims to the Iberian Peninsula mail contract.
Operated until 1856, the "SS Iberia" ensured the transport of mail between London and Spain (including Gibraltar) and Portugal.
