Tribute to the Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev on FDC from Poland

Hommage au poète kazakh Abaï Kunanbaïev sur FDC de Pologne

Le 30 juin 2020, la poste polonaise a mis en circulation un timbre (3,30 PLN, tirage : 135000) consacré au 175ème anniversaire de la naissance du poète, compositeur, philosophe, traducteur et activiste social kazakh Abaï Kunanbaïev (1845-1904).
Connu sous le nom de Abaï Ibragim Kounanbaïouly, il est considéré au Kazakhstan comme l'un des pères de la nation et de la langue kazakhe et un très grand nombre de monuments lui est consacré et ses écrits forment la base de la culture kazakhe.
Il est en effet considéré comme un co-créateur de la langue kazakhe moderne et a introduit des thèmes sociaux et moraux dans la poésie et une nouvelle versification. Il a également traduit (en partant d'œuvres écrites en russe) en kazakh des ouvrages de grands écrivains comme Byron, Goethe et Pouchkine. 
On June 30, 2020, the Polish Post issued a stamp (PLN 3.30, print run: 135,000) dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the Kazakh poet, composer, philosopher, translator and social activist Abay Kunanbayev (1845-1904).
Known as Abai Ibrahim Qunanbaiuly, he is considered in Kazakhstan as one of the fathers of the nation and of the Kazakh language and a very large number of monuments are dedicated to him and his writings form the basis of the Kazakh culture.
He is indeed considered as a co-creator of the modern Kazakh language and introduced social and moral themes into poetry and further versification. He also translated (starting from works written in Russian) into Kazakh works by great writers such as Byron, Goethe and Pushkin.

 

Abaï Kunanbaïev a vu dans l'apprentissage de la langue russe (alors que les troupes russes occupent son pays) une porte s'ouvrant sur la culture mondiale à laquelle il souhaitait ardemment faire participer son peuple.
Merci beaucoup Vera pour cet élégant pli Premier Jour (TAD de Varsovie - ornement traditionnel kazakh) concernant ce timbre, en 2 exemplaires, représentant le poète avec une yourte dans le fond.
Conçu par Maciej Jędrysik et imprimé en feuillet de 9 timbres, ce timbre ne constitue pas une émission commune avec la poste kazakhe, qui a également émis un timbre cette année pour célébrer ce même 175ème anniversaire de la naissance de ce poète.
La poste kazakhe a déjà émis de nombreux timbres dans le passé évoquant Abaï Kunanbaïev, de même que la poste de l'ancienne URSS. Sauf erreur de ma part, ce timbre polonais est seulement le 2ème (après un timbre indien émis en 1995) consacré à ce poète kazakh, émis par une administration postale ne faisant pas partie de l'ancienne URSS...
La Pologne et le Kazakhstan avaient émis un timbre commun en 2017, consacré à l'Armée Anders, le nom des forces armées polonaises en Orient pendant la période 1941-1942.

Abay Kunanbayev saw in the learning of the Russian language (while the Russian troops occupied his country) a door opening on the world culture in which he ardently wished to involve his people.

Designed by Maciej Jędrysik and printed in a sheetlet of 9 stamps, this stamp is not a joint issue with the Kazakh Post, which also issued a stamp this year to celebrate the same 175th anniversary of this poet's birth.

The Kazakh Post has already issued many stamps in the past evoking Abay Kunanbayev, as has the Post of the former USSR. Unless I am mistaken, this Polish stamp is only the 2nd (after an Indian stamp issued in 1995) dedicated to this Kazakh poet, issued by a postal administration not part of the former USSR ...

Poland and Kazakhstan issued a joint stamp in 2017, dedicated to the Anders' Army, the name of the Polish armed forces in the East during the period 1941-1942.
