L'ouvrage "Le Petit Prince", publié en 1943 (aux États-Unis) par l'écrivain et célèbre
aviateur français Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944), est parfois
considéré comme l'un des livres les plus connus dans le monde, avec la
Bible et "Le Capital" de Karl Marx...
Sous l'apparence d'un conte pour enfants, "Le Petit Prince" se veut un
conte poétique et philosophique avec une écriture simple et dépouillée
mettant l'accent sur le comportement absurde des adultes.
Lorsque le Petit Prince quitte son astéroïde B 612, il découvre sur
terre la solitude et l'absurdité de l'existence et raconte son histoire à
un aviateur qui, à la suite d'une panne de moteur, a dû se poser en
catastrophe dans le désert du Sahara...

published in 1943 (in the United States) by the famous French writer and pioneering aviator
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944), is sometimes considered as one of
the most famous books in the world, with the Bible and "Capital" by Karl
Marx ...
Under the semblance of a children's
fairy tale, "The Little Prince" is intended as a poetic and
philosophical tale with a simple writing emphasizing the absurd behavior
of adults.
When the Little Prince leaves his
asteroid B-612, he discovers on Earth the loneliness and absurdity of
life and tells his story to an aviator who, following an engine failure,
had to crash-land in the Sahara Desert...
"S'il vous plaît… dessine-moi un mouton !", "On ne voit bien qu'avec le
cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux" sont quelques-unes des
phrases extraites de ce livre, faisant partie aujourd'hui de notre
imaginaire collectif.
Curieusement, peu d'administrations postales
ont déjà émis dans le passé
des timbres consacrés à ce personnage du Petit Prince : Israël,
Croatie, Nouvelle-Calédonie, Pologne, Guinée équatoriale, Allemagne,
Thaïlande, Japon, Argentine, Bulgarie, Serbie ou France (1998, 2021).
Le 15 juin 2026 (vente générale),
la poste française a mis en circulation un nouveau timbre ainsi qu'un carnet (12 timbres "Lettre Verte") à
l'occasion du 80ème anniversaire de la parution de la première édition française du Petit Prince, le livre le plus traduit au monde avec plus de 650 traductions officielles !
Deux timbres autocollants du carnet (tirage : 2060500, conception : Studio Pekelo) ont été utilisés sur la carte ci-dessus avec TAD Premier Jour de Paris daté du 11 juin
2026.
"If you please... draw me a sheep !", "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye" are some of the sentences taken from this book, today being part of our collective imagination.
Surprisingly,
few postal administrations have previously issued stamps featuring this
character of The Little Prince: Israel, Croatia, New Caledonia, Poland,
Equatorial Guinea, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Argentina, Bulgaria,
Serbia, or France (1998, 2021).
On
June 15, 2026 (general sale), the French Post issued a new stamp
(€2.25; print run: 705,000)—printed in a sheetlet of 15 stamps with
illustrated margins—to mark the 80th anniversary of the first French edition of *The Little Prince*, the most translated book in the world, boasting over 650 official translations!
Two self-adhesive stamps from the booklet (print run: 2,060,500; design: Studio Pekelo) were used on the postcard above, with First Day cancellation from Paris dated June 11, 2026.
Ces 2 timbres représentent respectivement le Petit Prince sur un lit d'étoiles et le Petit Prince et renard (un guide spirituel qui permet au Petit Prince de gagner en sagesse) dans un carton regardant le ciel.
Cette carte postale, mise en circulation le 19 mai 2026, fait partie d'un lot (4 cartes différentes, prix de vente : 7€) commercialisé par Philaposte et consacré également au Petit Prince.
Toutes ces cartes mettent en scène le Petit Prince avec la Tour Eiffel, avec également la rose sur la carte ci-dessus, une fleur qui joue un rôle essentiel dans l'histoire, car sans elle, le petit prince ne serait pas venu sur Terre et n'aurait jamais rencontré l'aviateur. Elle symbolise les difficultés de la relation amoureuse et fait l'objet de toutes les pensées du Petit Prince.
Une citation emblématique de l'ouvrage est également imprimée (avec une encre dorée) sur chacune de ces cartes, "On ne voit bien qu'avec le
cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux" ici.
These two stamps depict, respectively, the Little Prince resting on a bed of stars, and the Little Prince with the fox (a spiritual guide who helps him gain wisdom) sitting in a cardboard box and gazing at the sky.
This postcard, released on May 19, 2026, is part of a set of four different cards (priced at €7.00) sold by Philaposte and also dedicated to the Little Prince.
All these cards feature the Little Prince alongside the Eiffel Tower; the card above also includes the rose—a flower that plays a pivotal role in the story, because without it, the Little Prince would never have come to Earth or met the aviator. It symbolizes the complexities of romantic relationships and is the constant focus of the Little Prince's thoughts.
An iconic quote from the book is also printed (in gold ink) on each of these cards: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye" here.
