Retrospective exhibition of the work of Giacometti in Morocco

From 20 April to 4 September 2016, the Museum Mohammed VI of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI, opened in Rabat in 2014) is organizing, in collaboration with the Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation, the first major retrospective exhibition of the work of famous Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), a first on the African continent.
On this occasion, the Moroccan Post issued on April 27, 2016, a special stamp (9 Dirhams) devoted to this exhibition.
Thank you very much Pierre for this letter sent on May 6, 2016 from the city of Meknes, franked with that stamp !

That stamp depicts one of the best known bronze sculptures of Giacometti, "The Walking Man" or "L'Homme qui marche" (1960).
This unprecedented retrospective brings together more than 100 major works (46 sculptures, 19 paintings, 30 drawings) of the artist, from the rich collections of the Foundation, and allows visitors to follow the entire career of one of the great masters of art of the 20th century.
This exhibition has in particular a thematic section highlighting the important influence of African arts on Giacometti, then marking the beginning of his mature work.
