"The Bartered Bride" comic opera, Cranach's altarpiece and Fairy Amalka on Czech cover

Merci beaucoup Bret !
On May 18, 2016, the Czech Post has released three new stamps  respectively dedicated to a work of Lucas Cranach the Elder (38 CZK), part of the collections of the Prague Castle, the animated television character "Fairy Amalka" ("A") and the 150th anniversary of the comic opera "The Bartered Bride" by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana (16 CZK).
I'll write in more detail about these last two stamps in a future article.
These three new stamps were used to frank this nice letter sent by registered mail from Prague on the first day of issue. Thank you very much Bret !

To note the special postmark (design : Jan Kavan) put into circulation from 14 to 20 May 2016 by the main post office of Prague 1, featuring the crown of King Charles IV with the mention "700th anniversary of the birth of Charles IV" ("700. výročí narození Karla IV").

Regarding the stamp dedicated to Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472-1553), Bret was kind enough to send me also the official FDC (print run : 3400) above as well as the First Day Sheet below.
That stamp (engraved by Miloš Ondráček), printed in sheetlet of 4 stamps, reproduces the right part of an altarpiece painted in 1520 by German Renaissance painter and engraver Lucas Cranach the Elder, showing a portrait of St. Barbara (the left part of that work representing St. Catherine).
Lucas Cranach the Elder, official painter to the court of Saxony from 1505 until his death, adhered to the ideas of the Reformation from 1517. He painted several portraits (including his friend Martin Luther or Charles V), made engravings illustrating biblical scenes and altarpieces serving the ideas of the Reformation.

Ora virgotuos ille pane celi dignos effici".
The FDC cancellation (as well as the engraving to the left on the FDC) represents the coat of arms of Lucas Cranach the Elder (a winged serpent with a ring) that his patron, the powerful Elector of Saxony Frederick the Wise, permitted him to use in 1508.
For Latin lovers, here is the text on the scroll held by St. Barbara on this painting : "Barbaro populo manna verum in tuo sanctissimo utero mater beatissima c[on]fecisti. Ora virgotuos ille pane celi dignos effici".
