Carlos Ruiz Zafón (1964-2020) est l'un des auteurs les plus reconnus internationalement, étant l'écrivain espagnol le plus lu au monde après Cervantès.
Sa carrière littéraire débute en 1993 avec Le Prince de la brume, qui, avec Le Palais de minuit et Les Lumières de septembre, forment la trilogie du Cycle de la brume, une combinaison inégalée d'aventures, de mystère et d'émotions qui se déroulent dans des villes comme Londres, Calcutta ou Paris.
En 1998, il publie le roman Marina, l'inoubliable histoire qui a précédé L'Ombre du vent, l'un de ses chefs-d'œuvre qui lancera la saga du Cimetière des livres oubliés, avec Le Jeu de l'ange, Le Prisonnier du ciel et Le Labyrinthe des Esprits.
Cette collection est devenue l'un des grands phénomènes littéraires au niveau national et international, avec des millions de livres vendus et même un nouveau terme inventé pour cela : "zafonmanía".

Carlos Ruiz Zafón (1964-2020) is one of the most internationally recognized authors, being the most read Spanish writer in the world after Cervantes.
His literary career began in 1993 with The Prince of Mist, which, together with The Midnight Palace and The Watcher in the Shadows, form the Cycle of Mist trilogy, an unrivaled combination of adventure, mystery and emotion taking place in cities like London, Calcutta or Paris.
In 1998, he published the novel Marina, the unforgettable story that preceded The Shadow of the Wind, one of his masterpieces which launched The Cemetery of Forgotten Books saga, with The Angel's Game, The Prisoner of Heaven and The Labyrinth of Spirits.
This collection has become one of the great literary phenomena nationally and internationally, with millions of books sold and even a new term coined for it: "zafonmanía".
Javier Marías (1951-2022), diplômé en Philosophie et Lettres, a développé sa carrière d'enseignant en tant que professeur de littérature espagnole à l'Université d'Oxford et au Wellesley College (Massachusetts).
Javier Marías était l'une des voix les plus intimes et personnelles de sa génération dans le récit espagnol. Ses personnages naissent d'une intense complexité et sont exposés à des situations extraordinaires et incertaines de la vie quotidienne.
Ses références à la littérature anglaise sont nombreuses, dont il était un grand spécialiste et érudit, ainsi qu'un traducteur de grandes œuvres anglaises.
Son premier roman, Le Domaine du loup, est publié en 1971. Situé aux États-Unis et écrit dans un style clairement journalistique, il rend hommage à la fois au cinéma hollywoodien des années 1950 et 1960, ainsi qu'aux grands romanciers américains.
Javier Marías a été l'un des plus grands représentants de ce que l'on appelle la "nouvelle" génération, une nouvelle tendance esthétique qui a placé sa propre appartenance culturelle en dehors de la sphère ibérique.

In 2006 he became a member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
