Timbre "Personnalités illustres - Marco Polo" sur FDC du Kirghizstan (KEP)
Marco Polo (1254-1324) était un marchand et explorateur vénitien qui entreprit l'un des premiers voyages européens en Asie.
Comme elle le fait pratiquement chaque année, la Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP),
le 2ème opérateur postal désigné du Kirghizstan, a mis en circulation,
le 10 mars 2025, une intéressante série (4 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet, avec millésime 2024) consacrée à
différentes personnalités internationales du monde de la culture et des sciences dont un timbre à l'occasion du 700ème anniversaire de la mort de Marco Polo.

Marco Polo (1254-1324) was a Venetian merchant and explorer who undertook one of the earliest European journeys to Asia.
As it is the case practically every year, the Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP),
the 2nd designated postal operator of Kyrgyzstan, put into circulation,
on March 10, 2025, an interesting series (4 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet, with year 2024) dedicated to different international personalities from the world of culture and science, including a stamp celebrating the 700th death anniversary of Marco Polo.

sent from Bishkek, the country's capital, concerning this stamp!
Ce timbre (150 KGS, tirage : 7000), conçu par Daria Maier et
imprimé en Moldavie par Nova Imprim, montre un portrait imaginé de Marco Polo. Le portrait sur l'enveloppe étant inspiré d'une mosaïque (par Antonio Salviati, 1867) située dans le Palazzo Doria-Tursi à Gênes.
Marco Polo décrivit son périple dans son "Livre des Merveilles du Monde", qui eut une grande influence sur le développement de la cartographie, de la navigation et sur l'exploration ultérieure du continent asiatique par les européens.
Marco Polo passa 17 ans en Chine. C'est grâce à lui qu'un large cercle d'européens découvrit le papier-monnaie, le sagoutier, les pierres noires qui brûlent, ainsi que l'artisanat et les traditions culinaires typiques de diverses régions chinoises.
En route vers la Chine, Marco Polo visita les régions d'Asie centrale. Son itinéraire passa probablement par le territoire de l'actuel Kirghizstan.
This stamp (150 KGS, print run: 7,000), designed by Daria Maier and printed in Moldova by Nova Imprim, shows an imagined portrait of Marco Polo. The portrait on the envelope is inspired by a mosaic (by Antonio Salviati, 1867) located in the Palazzo Doria-Tursi in Genoa.
Marco Polo described his journey in "Book of the Marvels of the World", which had a great influence on the development of cartography, navigation and further exploration of the Asian continent by Europeans.
Marco Polo spent 17 years in China. It was thanks to Marco Polo that a wide circle of Europeans learned about paper money, the sago palm, black stones that burn, as well as typical crafts and culinary traditions of various Chinese regions.
On his way to China, Marco Polo visited the regions of Central Asia. The route of his journey probably passed through the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan.

La Kyrgyz Express Post a également mis en circulation le même jour la
jolie carte-maximum ci-dessous (MC-137, tirage : 400) concernant ce
timbre.
A noter que l'Italie, la Bosnie-Herzégovine (HP Mostar et Sarajevo), Djibouti, la Guinée ou le Liberia ont également émis des timbres en 2024 consacrés à Marco Polo.
