Série EUROPA 2024 (Faune et flore subaquatiques) sur FDC des îles Féroé
Pour rappel, le thème choisi par l'association PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA émis en 2024, la faune et flore subaquatiques, mettait en lumière la biodiversité
des eaux européennes qui souffrent de la surpêche, de la pollution et du
changement climatique et qui doivent être protégées pour les
générations futures.
Le 27 mai 2024, la poste des îles Féroé (Posta) a mis en circulation une jolie série EUROPA (2 timbres) illustrant ce thème et en particulier des photographies sous-marines prises au large de cet archipel situé dans l'océan
Atlantique Nord, l'un des trois pays constitutifs du royaume de
Danemark.
Ces
2 timbres, imprimés (en Belgique par Bpost) chacun en feuille
de 20 timbres gommés ainsi que dans un carnet de 6
timbres autocollants (3 timbres de chaque), figurent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous avec TAD de Tórshavn, la capitale.
As a reminder, the theme chosen by the PostEurop association for the EUROPA stamps issued in 2024, underwater fauna and flora, highlighted the
biodiversity of European waters, which are suffering from overfishing,
pollution, and climate change and which have to be protected for future
generations.
On May 27, 2024, the Faroe Islands Post (Posta) released a nice EUROPA set (two stamps) illustrating this theme, particularly underwater photographs taken off the coast of this archipelago located in the North Atlantic Ocean, one of the three constituent countries of the Kingdom of Denmark.
These two stamps, each printed (in Belgium by Bpost) in a sheet of 20 gummed stamps and in a booklet of six self-adhesive stamps (three stamps of each), are present on the official FDC below with cancellations from Tórshavn, the capital.
Ces 2 timbres ont donc été conçus à partir de photographies sous-marines de Harald Bjørgvin qui vit à Tórshavn.
Le timbre à gauche (23 DKK) représente un nudibranche, "Facelina bostoniensis", qui se déplace vers son appareil photo, une photographie prise à Sund (petit village situé au nord de Tórshavn, sur l'île de Streymoy) le 19 mai 2020.
Les nudibranches comptent parmi les animaux les plus beaux et les plus colorés. Ce sont des bulots sans coquille qui se déplacent comme des escargots. Leur nom, nudibranche, vient du fait que leurs organes respiratoires, les branchies, sont exposés, à nu, dans leur dos. On les trouve dans tous les océans du monde, de la surface de l'eau jusqu'à des profondeurs de plus de 700 mètres. À ce jour, plus de 3000 espèces ont été recensées.
L'autre timbre (33 DKK) représente une photographie intitulée "Au-dessus/Au-dessous", prise à Akkersvík (village de Hvítanes, île de Streymoy également) le 7 juin 2021.
Cette photographie montre à la fois différents types d'algues (vertes et brunes) sous l'eau, à une faible profondeur, et un hangar à bateaux dans le fond.
These two stamps have been designed based on underwater photographs by Harald Bjørgvin, who lives in Tórshavn.
The stamp on the left (23 DKK) depicts a nudibranch, "Facelina bostoniensis", advancing towards his camera. It was taken in Sund (a small village north of Tórshavn, on the island of Streymoy) on May 19, 2020.
Nudibranchs, a type of sea slug, stand out as some of the most vivid and striking inhabitants of the marine world. These shell-less gastropods move in a manner akin to snails. Their Faroese name, "bertákna" (bare gills), is inspired by their exposed respiratory organs, the gills, situated towards the back on their spine. These creatures inhabit every ocean globally, ranging from the surface to depths exceeding 700 meters. To date, over 3,000 species of nudibranchs have been identified.
The other stamp (33 DKK) depicts a photograph entitled "Above/Underneath", taken in Akkersvík (Hvítanes village, also on Streymoy island) on June 7, 2021.
This photograph shows both different types of (green and brown) seaweed underwater, at a shallow depth, and a boathouse in the background.
