Sans doute pour célébrer les 1ers jeux olympiques de l'histoire organisés en Amérique du sud, le thème choisi en 2016 pour les émissions de timbres America-UPAEP est intitulé "Olympiades" !
Un thème plus festif que la "lutte contre la traite des êtres humains" en 2015...
Pour rappel, l'UPAEP (Union Postale des Amériques, de l'Espagne et du Portugal) est une union restreinte de l'UPU, créée en 1911, regroupant une trentaine de pays et territoires.
A l'image des timbres EUROPA, des timbres UPAEP sont émis chaque année depuis 1989, par une quinzaine de pays chaque année.
Un grand merci Luis pour cet intéressant FDC ci-dessous, avec TAD de Madrid (envoyé le 24 juin 2016) concernant le nouveau timbre UPAEP émis le 23 juin 2016 par la poste espagnole (Correos) !

As a reminder, UPAEP (Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal) is a restricted union of the UPU, established in 1911, bringing together about thirty countries and territories.
Such as EUROPA stamps, UPAEP stamps are issued each year since 1989 by a dozen countries each year.
A big thank you Luis for this great FDC below, with cancellation from Madrid (sent on June 24, 2016) regarding the new UPAEP stamp issued on June 23, 2016 by the Spanish Post (Correos) !
Ce timbre (1,30€ - envoi jusqu'à 20g hors d'Europe, tirage : 220000) rend hommage au français Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937), rénovateur des jeux olympiques de l'ère moderne (1ère édition en 1896 à Athènes) et fondateur du Comité international olympique (il en sera le président de 1896 à 1925).
L'emblème du comité olympique espagnol est également présent sur ce timbre ainsi que Jesse Owens (1913-1980), quadruple médaillé d'or lors des jeux olympiques de Berlin en 1936, des jeux en Allemagne Nazie alors boycottés par l'Espagne qui a préféré organiser des olympiades populaires à Barcelone...
Sauf erreur, la poste espagnole est la 1ère administration postale a émettre un timbre UPAEP cette année (le Costa Rica a émis un bloc-feuillet le 15 juillet 2016).
That stamp (€ 1.30 - letter up to 20g sent outside Europe, print run : 220,000) is paying tribute to French Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937), who revived the Olympic Games of the modern era (1st edition in 1896 in Athens) and founder of the International Olympic Committee (he was president from 1896 to 1925).
The emblem of the Spanish Olympic Committee is also present on that stamp as well as Jesse Owens (1913-1980), quadruple gold medalist at the Olympic Games of Berlin in 1936, games organized in Nazi Germany and then boycotted by Spain, which organized a People's Olympiad in Barcelona...
Unless I am mistaken, the Spanish Post is the first postal administration having issued a UPAEP stamp this year (Costa Rica issued a miniature sheet on July 15, 2016).
