Les 8 administrations postales des pays ou territoires du nord de l'Europe (Åland, Finlande, Danemark, îles Féroé, Groënland, Islande, Norvège et Suède) émettent régulièrement des séries de timbres "Norden" ayant des thèmes communs.
Une série ayant pour thème "Le nord près de la mer" a été initiée en 2010 (vie sur la côte) et poursuivie en 2012 (vie en mer) et 2014 (navires en mer).
Ces séries comportent des illustrations différentes pour chaque pays, avec le logo "Norden" (inspiré d'un cor postal) sur les timbres ou dans les marges pour les bloc-feuillets.
The eight postal administrations of countries or territories of northern Europe (Åland, Finland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) are regularly issuing "Norden" stamps series having joint themes.
A series devoted to "The north by the sea" topic was initiated in 2010 (life at the coast) and continued in 2012 (Life at sea) and 2014 (Ships at sea).
These series have different illustrations for each country, with the "Norden" logo (inspired by a post horn) on stamps or in the margins for the miniature sheets.
Le 17 mars 2014, la poste d'Åland a mis en circulation le dernier bloc-feuillet de ce cycle "Le nord près de la mer" constitué d'un timbre à 3€.
Comme les 2 précédents bloc-feuillets, ce bloc-feuillet (tirage : 90000) a été conçu par l'artiste alandais Juha Pykäläinen (né en 1953) et imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing.
C'est ce bloc-feuillet qui a été utilisé pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 10 juin 2016 de Mariehamn, la capitale de cet archipel d'Åland. Merci beaucoup Liisa !

Le transport maritime (passagers ou fret) est de loin le secteur le plus important dans l'économie d'Åland (40% du PIB), près de 4000 personnes travaillant dans ce secteur.
On March 17, 2014, the Post of Åland released the last miniature sheet of this "The north by the sea" cycle consisting of a € 3.00 stamp.
Like the two previous miniature sheets, this one (print run : 90,000) was designed by the Åland artist Juha Pykäläinen (born 1953) and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing.
It is that miniature sheet which was used to frank the nice cover above sent on June 10, 2016 from Mariehamn, the capital of this archipelago of Åland. Thank you very much Liisa !
