"Polar Adventures Exhibition" in Ouistreham, France - special postmark and personalized stamp

Salon des Aventures Polaires à Ouistreham - TAD et MTAM

Les 26 et 27 novembre 2016, le Club Philatélique de Ouistreham organisait le 62ème congrès de la région Basse-Normandie (Groupement XVIIA - 19 associations des 3 départements de la Manche, du Calvados et de l'Orne).
A cette occasion, une exposition intitulée "Salon des aventures polaires" était organisée, en collaboration avec le CEPP (Cercle d'Études Postales Polaires) et l'UFPP-SATA (Union Française de Philatélie Polaire), rendant hommage au Commandant Jean-Baptiste Charcot (1867-1936), médecin et explorateur polaire, et à ses compagnons disparus lors du naufrage du "Pourquoi Pas ? IV" il y a 80 ans, au large de l'Islande.
On 26 and 27 November 2016, the Philatelic Club of Ouistreham organized the 62nd Congress of the Basse-Normandie region (Groupement XVIIA - 19 associations from the 3 départements of Manche, Calvados and Orne).
In collaboration with the CEPP (Circle of Polar Postal Studies) and the UFPP-SATA (French Union of Polar Philately), an exhibition entitled "Salon des Aventures Polaires" ("Polar Adventures Exhibition") was organized, paying tribute to Commander Jean-Baptiste Charcot (1867-1936), French medical doctor and polar scientist and explorer, and his companions who disappeared during the sinking of the "Pourquoi Pas ? IV" 80 years ago, off Iceland.

A l'occasion de cette exposition, un collector composé de 4 timbres personnalisés MonTimbraMoi ("Lettre Prioritaire 20g") et un TAD spécial étaient proposés au public.
Un grand merci Stéphane pour ce joli pli incluant ce timbre et ce TAD, tous les 2 représentant un portrait de Charcot, à bord du trois-mâts "Le Français" sur le timbre, utilisé par Charcot lors de la 1ère expédition française en Antarctique entre 1903 et 1905.
A noter que la poste islandaise a mis en circulation cette année un joli bloc-feuillet consacré au 80ème anniversaire du naufrage du "Pourquoi Pas ? IV".
On the occasion of this exhibition, a collector composed of 4 personalized "MonTimbraMoi" stamps ("Priority Letter 20g") and a special postmark were offered to the public.
A big thank you Stéphane for this nice cover including that stamp and the postmark, both representing portraits of Charcot, aboard the three-masted "Le Français" on the stamp, used by Charcot during the first French expedition in Antarctica between 1903 and 1905.
To note that the Icelandic Post has put in circulation this year a pretty souvenir sheet dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the sinking of the "Pourquoi Pas? IV".
