Le 13 mai 2019 (vente générale), la poste française a mis en circulation son timbre EUROPA (1,30€, tirage : 800000) illustrant le thème des "oiseaux nationaux", décliné ici en "oiseaux de nos régions".
Contrairement aux autres administrations postales européennes, la poste française a évoqué ce thème de façon originale, artistique et plutôt abstraite, à travers cette création de l'artiste japonais Tatsuya Oka (né en 1961 à Wakayama, diplômé de l'Université des Beaux-arts d'Osaka).
Avec son épouse Maïa Maniglier au sein de l'agence "exprime inc." qui expose ses œuvres, Tatsuya Oka a créé une composition tricolore symbolisant les éclats du soleil avec des vols d'hirondelles, dans un style graphique inspiré des origamis.
On May 13, 2019 (general sale), the French Post has put into circulation its EUROPA stamp (€ 1.30, print run: 800,000) illustrating the theme of "national birds", described here in "birds of our regions".
Contrary to other European postal administrations, the French Post has evoked this theme in an original, artistic and rather abstract way, through this creation of the Japanese artist Tatsuya Oka (born in 1961 in Wakayama, graduated from the University of Fine Arts of Osaka).
With his wife Maïa Maniglier within the agency "exprime inc." exhibiting his works, Tatsuya Oka has created a tricolor composition symbolizing the splinters of the sun with flights of swallows, in a graphic style inspired by origami.

Cet oiseau, à la silhouette élégante, est un symbole du début du printemps, lorsqu'elle est de retour en Europe après une longue migration (elle peut parcourir jusqu'à 10000 km) vers l'Afrique en hiver.
Les hirondelles (rustiques ou de fenêtre pour les plus connues) sont des espèces protégées dans de nombreux pays mais leur population est en forte régression en partie à cause du réchauffement climatique, de la raréfaction ou de l'empoisonnement de leur nourriture par les insecticides et de l'altération de leurs lieux de nidification...
La prévente de ce timbre avait lieu le 10 mai 2019 à Paris et Strasbourg (comme de coutume pour un timbre EUROPA) mais également à Rochefort, siège national de la LPO (Ligue pour la protection des oiseaux).

This bird, with its elegant silhouette, is a symbol of early spring, when it is back in Europe after a long migration (it can travel up to 10,000 km) to Africa in winter.
Swallows (barn swallows or common house martins for the most famous) are protected species in many countries but their population is in strong regression partly because of the global warming, the rarefaction or the poisoning of their food by the insecticides and alteration of their nesting sites ...
The preview sale of that stamp took place on May 10, 2019 in Paris and Strasbourg (as usual for a EUROPA stamp) but also in Rochefort, the national headquarters of the LPO (French league for the protection of birds).

This bird has also been chosen to be featured on EUROPA 2019 stamps issued in Croatia, Estonia and Armenia.
Lors de cette prévente au siège de la LPO à Rochefort, l'Amicale Philatélique Rochefortaise a mis en vente de splendides documents philatéliques (FDC illustré ci-dessus, carte ci-dessous) concernant ce timbre EUROPA. Une partie de la vente de ces documents (prix de vente : 3,50€ chacun) était reversée à la LPO.
L'hirondelle rustique (Hirundo rustica) est à l'honneur ici, avec ces jolies illustrations par François Desbordes, "peintre de la nature" né en 1962.
During this preview sale at the headquarters of the LPO in Rochefort, the Amicale Philatélique Rochefortaise put on sale some splendid philatelic documents (illustrated FDC above, card below) regarding this EUROPA stamp. A part of the sale of these documents (selling price: € 3.50 each) was donated to the LPO.
The barn swallow (Hirundo rustica) is in the spotlight here, with these pretty illustrations by François Desbordes, "nature painter" born in 1962.
