The Centenary of the Battle of the Somme celebrated by the Isle of Man

During official commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme on July 1, 2016, the Isle of Man post office was present at the Albert town hall along with the French Post which put in preview sale a special miniature sheet.
This July 1 marks the first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and the most tragic day in British military history with 57,000 losses, about 120 soldiers from the Isle of Man will be killed during this conflict.

This July 1, 2016, the Isle of Man post office released a special cancellation dedicated to these ceremonies, in particular at the Franco-British Thiepval Memorial, dedicated to fallen British soldiers during that terrible Battle of the Somme.
In the military cemetery of this Memorial, a Remembrance stone bears the inscription "Their Name Liveth for Evermore" in English, included on this postmark of July 1, 2016 applied to the special envelope above. Thank you very much Axel !
The stamp above (£ 0.77) is part of a series of six stamps issued on February 17, 2016 devoted to the 100th anniversary of this battle, here showing an aerial battle scene between a German plane piloted by German flying ace Werner Voss and a French Nieuport, over a field of poppies.

The Isle of Man post office also issued on this occasion this beautiful envelope above (limited edition : 100), including the two stamps of the French souvenir sheet to the left (with FDC cancellation from Albert) and a special sheet including the 6 Isle of Man stamps dedicated to this Battle of the Somme (with the postmark of July 1, 2016).
